Didn't know that the port was shit. Thought it was a nice deal for a gem so I posted it
That wasn't a rag on you and it was appreciated with the deal, It was more of a it sucks that the port was so bad. Maybe it's worth picking up that they fix it in the future since it came out pretty recently but It's kind of a toss up

Like I keep mentioning, there's a significant amount of free student games available on Steam, most of them of surprising quality.
Since many of them are short, or prototypes, they won't take much of your time, and they are great to try out in-between other games.
Do consider checking them out, and post your feedback to the teams behind these games. ;)

There are many institutions posting student games, but I just noticed the DigiPen Institute of Technology now has a curator page, which makes it easier to track the games that come from their programs. It's well worth following it:

---

Here's a few examples of some of the recent student games they've posted:

And here's a very cool looking game that's coming out next week:

It kind of is. The idea is the same: doing missions where players do complementary work, one is a hacker (so a more "passive" role, although there's plenty of mini-games for the hacking bits) while the other does the on location work, and players need to communicate and do their part in order to succeed, but Operation: Tango is a bit more streamlined and "accessible" (in a good way), and the presentation is equally polished.

Think of it as a flashier, prettier, Clandestine, with a bit more diversity, and easier to pick up and play. ;)
I may just have to look into this, thank you for the quick rundown

Of fucking course they are

As an old Man, Discord is pretty bad for anything text based, scrolling through channels is a nightmare, archiving is fucking impossible, If It wasnt for the fact that IS a free Voice chat service and everyone I know now uses It, I would still be using teamspeak, simpler and cleaner.
Same, but Mumble.
And I still use it with most of my friends.

That said, I feel like Discord is a significantly better (text and voice) chat service than anything else I've been forced to use over the last 2 decades because it was popular, so it has that going for it.

i know my priorities are kinda weird but i wish discord was more customizable beyond "bland light" and "decent dark" themes. nobody i know uses telegram for a thing, but the color themes are super lovely. meanwhile im still waiting for discord to remember their original plan to have themes available, or risk getting banned for using betterdiscord or w/e

it's still the best of the modern electron-based chat apps but just let me have Colors tyvm

As possibly one of the older people on this forum (50 creeps ever closer) I have to say that I only really use Discord as a chat based client for when I want to chat to mates or I am playing some sort of online game. Outside of that I am on a couple of servers for 3D printing patreons I support and thats about it.

However I also hated that trend a lot of websites went through where they couldn't post news anymore and they had to hide it in youtube videos instead. Not great when your in the office and want to just quickly check something out.

So to that end Forums are perfect for me.

do CS3 and Cs4 have actual quest tracking or do those games still stick to the hidden quests formula with the latter hidden all over the place without anything to help you track them down?

“Hidden” quests appear on the minimap (green exclamation marks).

I may have my first Game Pass issue, I suppose. GP says there is an update for Marvel Avengers but fuck if I can download it. Nope. There is an update but fuck you.

I've encountered this annoying issue a few times. Try opening the Microsoft store and checking the Downloads/Updates section and it might start the update.

I suppose you can install each Halo separately in the Steam version ? Would be a huge advantage as the GP version is redonkulously large.

Yes, you can. Each game (and its MP content) has a seperate DLC entry on the DLC Tab, and by selecting/disabling entries you can install what you want.

My disk is small, so whenever I had it installed, I always has a single game or two installed, not the whole thing.

Who thought it was a good idea to put this ugly lion on their store banner?

:lul:

It is a bit better-looking when the image ratio is correct, but still problematic with regards to the head/body size ratio.

In-game screenshot for comparison:

Vs. a real lion:

I was checking the new releases tab on Steam last night, in search of the name of a game I briefly glimpsed that looked cool (which ended up being a game called satryn deluxe), and I noticed a few more "retro" titles that are worth a look:

The one I was looking for was, like I mentioned, satryn deluxe, and it looks hectic and fun:

---

Then, there's this 8-bit looking game, from the developers behind the Monster Prom series of visual novels (talk about doing something different!), that was released last week and I totally missed it:

---

And finally, this very cool looking retro FPS, that kind of reminds me of the Blood series (visually), was also released last week, and I totally missed it!
I remember seeing some gameplay footage from it years ago, but didn't follow it closely, and the game is now out, and is getting good reviews:

Thanks for the warm welcome lashman !

I am 36 with 2 kids, so not sure if that qualifies me as old but I don't understand Discord. It's like Twitch chat - just endless streams of nonsense.

I'll also say I am trying to find my way back to gaming and part of that is figuring out SP vs GaaS MP. I like the structure and pacing of MP games (you get the whole game experience in 10 minutes) but the FOMO and progression is too time consuming. So I am trying to find my way back to just appreciating single player campaigns. Metroid Dread is helping a lot, and hopefully a Steam Deck will really help.
If you need any help to find good SP experiences for your Steam Deck, just ask, there are a lot of people here who loves good SP games. Im one of them. I do enjoy playing MP games, but the best games for me are games are SP games. There is a reason why Alan Wake, Bloodborne and Crysis are some of my favorite games.

MetaCouncil is also great for finding hidden gems ( FunktionJCB ) and finding good deals ( Tomasety ).

Tagging you because I appreciate your posts.

A game changing moment that just happened at the The International

A couple of questions to anyone who finished bloodstained:

1- Is there any reason to replay the game as zangetsu?
2- What's the point of the shadow ability you get from a boss?

Didn't see anyone else respond so I will.

1- Not in terms of like.... story or anything, but Zangetsu is similar to Richter from SotN where he has a fixed moveset and is crazy strong at the outset if you know all the moves he has. He's an interesting way to play, but not really anything there from a story standpoint.
2- Its a copy of you, and so it will copy all your moves (I don't think it copies shards though). You don't need the ability for progresion, but it does have some fun applications for like letting you get double hits in on monsters and so forth. Not essential, but a fun thing to play with.
