Capcom Arcade Stadium now has the option to buy each game individually, as DLC:
Also, the full compilation, all the packs, and some of the individual games, are now on sale:
---
One of the main complaints I kept reading about this release, which caused it to have negative reviews on Steam, was the fact that the games were only available as packs. Considering the cost of each 10 game pack (less than one retro game frequently costs, especially, say, on Nintendo's Virtual Console services), I personally found the complaints a bit harsh, but now those who only wish to buy a couple of games can do so.
I only recently started properly playing this release, since I upgraded my OS recently, and this one didn't work with my previous OS, but from my experience the emulation is great (it's based on MAME emulation), the CRT filter is quite awesome (I never use it on these compilations, and I do so with this one), there's all sorts of tweaks and gameplay options for the games (you can even rewind the action, speed up or slow down game speed, with the press of a button), you have Japanese and English roms for most games, and a great looking arcade environment, that seeks to emulate the noise and feel of an arcade location. Plus, weekly events, online rankings, unlockables, save states, (...).
For fans of arcade games, this release is a great way to experience these games.
Particularly for shmup fans, you can now buy several classics for less than 2€, which is an awesome, affordable price.
For example:
VARTH, which I linked above, has 30 stages!
Steam :: Capcom Arcade Stadium :: Individual titles are now available as standalone DLC! Packs are also on sale!
All 31 titles included in Capcom Arcade Stadium are now available as individual DLC! The various packs are also on sale for the first time through Oct. 31.
