Is there really nothing new to add to PC releases?
This is from this article about game engines on Steam that Wok posted before:

Before we had a lot of developers using different engine and then maybe trying new things. Now almost everything is either Unity or Unreal, so innovation has to come from them, or as you said, companies like Nvidia or AMD.

So... there is a lot less custom engines out there, and it's also way more costly to try something new.

That's not say they don't introduce new technologies, specially Unreal... but when you are making a general purpose engine you can't really do things that push envelope too much, since you have to keep thinking about the "mainstream market".

While I think things are still evolving, I get what you are saying that there doesn't appear to be anything really new in a while. Well... maybe Raytracing but AMD slow adoption (specially on consoles) really screwed that.

Man I should learn Unity
I dunno about unity. although I don't know how bad it is, but every new feature Unity introduces old features are left to be forgotten and never be supported again.
That means, that if you started a project in certain version of unity, you must stay on that version until your project is finished. New version of unity might break your project. Although this could apply to any engine

It would be only for educational purposes. I don't wanna do game dev, it's not for me.

Man fuck Tripwire, i feel so bad for the developers that work there.
John Gibson is one of those people who's always been extremely christian, so much so that it affects their games, like not wanting swearing in them and toning them down, christian metal music in Killing Floor 2, no blasphemy etc. It's a real shame seeing him support this anti-women bullshit though not particularly surprising. Funny thing is, this is the most attention I've seen Tripwire Interactive get in a long time, for all the wrong reasons.

There's tons of things! You just have to go looking for them on the tech articles and sites rather than general gaming sites.
Look at the nerdy software engineering videos and conferences, ... dammit now i can't think of examples to give you lol, but yes although many of these features are absorbed into game engines there are tons of atricles and dev blogs about the groovy things game devs do and tech that is invented, used and adapted.

It's just that most people have been conditioned to look for the big flashy pretty shit which glosses over things because people don't read that stuff.
Go find an engine or effects dev and follow their blog or twitter and you'll soon see the clever stuff they do.
There's also a lot of devs who stream their work and brainstorming on twitch and places. Lot's of it is shown after it's been protected by lawyers and stuff because much is done for employers etc but there's definitely tech articles and amazing engineering being done and spoken about.

That applies to any project in any dev environment like Unreal engine or Unity especially large projects. One of the big causes of "Development Hell" is switching engines or engine versions when development is solid and stable. You really don't know what will mess up in your code or workflow if you go changing versions on a big project. You will have a good idea but sometimes it's just not worth the risk or the time it will take to fix or adapt the code is just not worth it. You carry on with the version you have until it's done and then upgrade versions and pipelines and workflows and tools in pre-production on the next project.

I'm guessing Greedfall, Spiritfarer, or Ghostrunner. Ring of Pain as the Humble published title.

I kind of forget what else is out there. I imagine some previous or current Game Pass titles will show up.

Here is the list of GamePass games:

I would expect some of these, because they have DLC:
  • Wasteland 3
  • Neon Abyss
  • West of Dead
  • Streets of Rage 4

Nothing new about Trails or stuff that we haven't read about before, but Kondo having difficulty beating (Ys I) Dark Fact will always gets a chuckle out of me.

Toshihiro Kondo said:
“One day, I spent the entire day on the final boss and even after the sun went down, I still couldn’t beat him,” Kondo recalls. “Honestly, I think my skill level was above average, too. I didn't want to tell the development team that I couldn’t beat him, so as I was playing into the night; the executive sitting behind me said, ‘Kondo, enough is enough,’ tell the programmers to lower the difficulty.’”

Sonic Colors Ultimate...
I mean, that in and of itself is not bad IMHO. It shows someone was at least trying to improve the game. (And on modern HW that on its own really shouldn't cause any problems without larger issues elsewhere / in the code).

MC is the only place I'm social online, so you guys better stay as awesome as you are because I have no other place to go!:cat-heart-blob:
Same. Never been on facebook, twitter etc. Never even used a forum until a few years ago. I discovered GAF about 6months before it imploded and sort of followed the crowd over to ERA but never really felt like i was part of a community. Then came over to here where i am very happy.

Yeah, the user that made those tweets said the same, that it's not a bad thing, but in the case of Sonic Colors Ultimate it may have been overdone in some elements and could have been done more selectively?

The game has several bigger issues other than stutters and long loadings, the stutters/long loadings could indeed be caused by something else.

Will be starting the 2nd DLC for Valhalla sometime today, when that is finished I will take a break from AC games. I can't do anymore of those types of AC games anymore, maybe if the Odyssey devs developed the next one.

Did something happen? I was under the impression that it is his forum.
He often states that he is an user here like everyone. But I do think he takes care of some of the running this forum.

as to what could have happened, I have no ideas. Maybe something spiraled from wegot a bump of guest from era.

Happy Humble Choice Day.

Might we see Scourge Bringer? Hypnospace Outlaw? Disgaea 4? Bad Rats Show?
Whilst not likely I'd love it to be The Outer Worlds, bought the expansion yesterday off GMG at what I think was a misprice, so gimme that sweet steam key for the main game.
