The story is set in 1998, concurrently to the events of Resident Evil 2. Players control former police officer Jill Valentine as she attempts to escape Raccoon City during a zombie apocalypse caused by an outbreak of the T-Virus. She is hunted by an intelligent bioweapon known as Nemesis, who attempts to kill her and all remaining members of her police division, the Special Tactics and Rescue Service (S.T.A.R.S.).The game also follows the mercenary Carlos Oliveira, hired by Umbrella to help survivors.

Overcome chilling encounters in a constant fight for survival that ratchets up the genre-defining horror game’s intensity. Nail-biting exploration complements the gripping puzzle solving that fans have come to love.

Jill Imitates Wesker:

  • You can dodge away from zombies trying to grab you
  • A perfectly executed dodge helps you add distance to escape or fire your gun
  • You can button mash to escape a zombie's grab
  • The combat knife does not have durability

An over-the-shoulder camera and modernized control scheme update the 1999 survival horror classic, drawing players into every blood curdling encounter and horrific scare while they navigate the ruins of Raccoon City.

Tofu OR Sandwich

Capcom’s recently revealed Resident Evil 3 remake will include an asymmetrical multiplayer mode called Resident Evil Resistance, in which a team of four survivors must try to escape a deadly experiment overseen by an opposing player controlling a character known as the Mastermind.

Crucially, one of those survivors is named Martin Sandwich

It took me 9 months to get to RE2 last year because I was intimidated by Mr X, and he ended up being in like 10% of the game. I have no idea how I'm going to make it through this one.

I bought it, but I'm with Derrick, I probably won't be playing it much because it's gonna be some stressful shit :p I booted up the demo and quit before running into the Nemesis.

Someone will definetly mod the game and replace him with a cute teddy bear or something.

Seen some people bash the dodge and liken it to RE6? But the original also had a dodge (and introduced the quick turn too). Weirdos.

I was really happy with the demo, so I'm grabbing this and I'll get to it after I'm done with Alyx and FF7R.

DF has posted a video analysing the game's performance on consoles.

TL;DR:
  • PS4 - 1080P - Always under 60 FPS - constant dips to low/mid 30s.
  • PS4 PRO - 1620P Checkerboard Res. Mostly stable 60 FPS - some dips to low 40s.
  • XBOX One S - 1080P excluding cutscenes. Performance is same as base PS4.
  • XBOX One X - Native 4K. Slightly better shadows & DOF than others. Always under 60 FPS - some dips to low/mid 30s.

Same noisy SSR technique as RE2R. Which looked horrible. =/ This is something they should've improved on, honestly.
Half-rate animations for zombies far away retained.

theres an achievement for finishing on inferno theres also one for s rank inferno

inferno changes many things like item placement you get guns at different times, theres more zombies ( in one place theres 6 instead of 2) some places theres completey different monsters to before also nemesis pretty much runs all the time aswel;l

2.5 hours in, I like it for the most part so far. Surprising no-one, it looks and plays almost exactly like the RE2 Remake, which I liked. There are less puzzles so far. Zombies are still bulletsponges that keep on getting up after several headshots. Environments are great. Characters are likable, especially the playable protagonists. Story is engaging, but Nemesis is just as annoying as Mr. X was (maybe even more). I get that he is the main focus of the game and as a plot device it makes sense, but it is not a lot of fun having to deal with him so much (because you can only run away, he gets you anyway, pins you down, throws you around etc.) Thankfully there is still enough of gameplay without him. Oh and he isnt scary at all. None of the game is, at least to me... but I havent been scared by any game since the original Amnesia.

But yeah, so far I really like it, and I'm eager to jump back in.

I think it takes like 4-5 shots to take out a leg lol, and they become more annoying so I ended up just shooting them in the head and poke their head a few times with a knife, the dodge seems super unreliable close range for normal zombies, it's been working for situations where the zombie is trying to grab me at a distance.

Don't do headshots with a pistol, take out one of their legs and just run past them. :)
Yeah I could, probably, but I really like clearing out areas so I can search them in peace :)

Have you modified the exe in any way? I believe tampering with the game files locks out the interaction button in-game.

yup came to that to myself, its weird because itll sometimes work and then sometimes break hard, but after extensive testing of doing the same 5 minute segment in exactly same way its defo related to editing the exe or any file.

Played the intro a bit. I don't quite remember how the original was except that I liked it quite a bit other than some mundane puzzle near the end of the game (which might have been the only one, or one of very few) but did it introduce all that stuff right at the intro back then? It seems underwhelming here...

Meh game doesn't have proper kb/m + controller support so it took me a while to set up a steam controller config.

Just played a bit of the first area. I missed the safe and it was a pain in the ass to get back there after Nemesis spawned those parasites. They take quite a few shots with a shotgun and those tentacle attacks have huge range.

I assume I'd need to compile that myself or something or just wait for a release :p

nope i have a fix for reshade crashing, basically go to re3 install location, open re3.config file and look for setting under render MainMenu=

whatever is after the = change it to True

save and set file as read only

In RE2 at least I found that legshots were more effective at keeping the zombies down (but not dead) than headshots in the end. Though I guess RE3 will be different because the knife doesn't break so you can probably kill downed zombies more easily?

Finished it - some thoughts. I'll put them in spoiler tags just in case (even thought they really arent very spoilery):
5 hours "clear", 6 hours "total" (I assume that includes cutscenes). I think thats a good length for a game, especially since I might replay it. I didnt rush in any way, looked in every nook and cranny to try and get all items and did a bunch of backtracking to open previously locked things once I got the lockpick/bolt cutters. I didnt bother trying to shoot all those figurines scattered across the place, but I might do that in a second run.
I stand by my initial impressions on pretty much everything, and especially, unfortunately, the enemies: they're just annoying obstacles. They dont feel like a challenge, a frightening threat or anything, just something tedious to dispatch. Nemesis is the worst offender, I had to fight him numerous times, and it was never fun, it always just felt like a chore. But I am not a fan of boss fights in general / as a concept.

So I went a bit nuts and played through RE3 two additional times to get some achievements and stuff. The second playthrough was 2:06 hours, and the third was 1:29... I'm not a speedrunner though and it was the easiest difficulty mode, but anyway ;)

Doing a 4th playthrough on hardcore, albeit with a few "cheat" items that you can purchase in the in-game shop (currency is aquired via in-game challenges, no microtransactions or anything).

Did you already try Hardcore without those items? I'm curious how drastically they actually change things.

I started without them, and it feels way easier with them. Feels more akin to "Assisted" tbh.
Not sure I would want to play hardcore or anything above without them.

I'll probably play a Nightmare run next, curious how much the changed positioning of enemies and items alters the experience.

I've since also played it through Inferno with an S-Rank, but I used as many shop items as I could to make it easier, otherwise I would not have managed to. The end boss I had to actually use CheatEngine, it was a massive difficulty spike with no room for any error, and I just dont crave that sort of challenge. But overally, I had tons of fun with RE3, and played it through numerous times, I think 27 hours altogether according to Steam. A short game once you know what you're doing, sure, but with all its challenges it is highly replayable.

Finished my first playthrough yesterday, gonna do a few more with the unlocks soon. Really good game for me, I think I ended up liking it more than Re2 Remake. I wish Mercenaries was still in though.
