Was looking for something to watch, so I went to the Anilist series page, filtered it by Finished Mecha shows and ordered things by release date and looked through that.

Watched Ancient Girls Frame and that was surprisingly entertaining. No high art, but everything about it was competently executed. Decent story, decent characters, pretty good art and music, some hype moments and some unusual non-humanoid mech designs. Main character got a bit annoying at times though.
CG mechs and enemies, but I'm not really a purist when it comes to that. It's noticeable CG, but it looked fine.

Currently going through another one, Juushinki Pandora - Last Hope and this one is 100% my jam. Fucking loving it.
It's a Kawamori Show by Satelight and it definitely does have some Macross DNA in it - transforming mechs and lots of insert songs (no actual singing while fighting or idols though).
It's basically a post-apocalyptic mecha show that uses quantum theory as a base for magic science. It's somewhat of a real robot/supe robot hybrid I guess?
Lots of fun regardless. Great characters with their own baggage and plenty development within a good story. A really cool setting. Hype action and lots of hype insert songs.
Great character and background art too, mechs and (most) enemies are CG again. Again noticeable, but pretty good once you get used to it. The first enemy looks pretty ugly though, which was an unfortunate way to start.
But I'm really into it right now. Just finished what could be considered the first part at 16 episodes, 10 episodes remaining.
Stuff gets pretty intense and there's plenty "collateral damage", but somehow the show manages to be pretty upbeat - which I like.

Great Bump of Chicken opening too!

Nice added both of those to my own planning to watch list.

Also signed up for AniList, and imported my MAL lists. AniList is so stylish by comparison and it has a dark mode. 👌

I never ever ever watch dubs but my god it looks like they've done an amazing job with Belle

The songs are a major part of Belle and it certainly seems they've adapted them impeccably

Apparently Bastard!! is 24 eps, the original OVA covered quite a bit with just 6 Eps if I remember correctly, so I wonder where this series will cover up to. Maybe long enough to get to the Kall-su fight?

Ghost Game 17

Whew. That was crazy intense :sweaty-blob:
Ruli teaming up with TeslaJellymon and shouting the attack name was hype as hell. The voice actors also did an incredible job selling their emotions, her shouting Physalist over and over again was really raw. Damn.
I feel a bit mixed on the whiplash between "everyone almost dies" and "oh, it was a misunderstanding, carry on!"
I wish they'd have at least given Frozomon a piece of their mind, but also Frozomons action are completely consistent with its official profile, so that's also kind of neat in a way. Hm.

Ghost Game 18

What the hell, a Peter Pan x Digimon crossover. That worked shockingly well to be honest.
Using evolution as a stand-in for "growing up" was really clever, the japanese forms are called Baby -> Baby II -> Child -> Adult after all.

Mushoku Tensei S2: 5/13
Attack on Titan: 37/??
Bakemonotgatari: 13/15
Castlevania: 2/32

Finished the re-watch of AoT S2 this morning. As expected... On a re-watch there is so much more depth to a lot of scenes...

Castlevania... i'm early, but so far it's not too flattering. I know it gets better as it goes, so I'll keep pushing.

Not entirely anime related but probably closest related thread on here

I'm a madman; I ordered 7 out of 8 of the Utada Hikaru vinyls from the upcoming JP only repressing.

I have finished watching Juushinki Pandora!
Man, I pretty much liked all about this. Such an enjoyable watch.

Now I guess I keep scrolling down the list to pick another random mech show I hven't seen yet, or I'll watch something else from recent seasons. Eyeing Ousama Ranking, and maybe I should also continue on with Aot (I'm still somewhere at the beginning of S2, that long break really didn't help)

The beginning episodes of Ousama Ranking are really, really strong. But recent ones are so weird and boring to watch... It's like the writer suddenly lost their touch. Personally I wouldn't recommend.

thank you!

everyone and their mum has been praising it to high heavens and i don't know why
it was really really strong at the start but its been glacial since about ep 8 or so

I'm not saying it's not worth a watch necessarily but by christ does it not live up to the hype

Mushoku Tensei S1 Part 2: 11/12
Attack on Titan: 44/??
Kizumonotgatari: 1/3
Castlevania: 10/32

Finished Bakemonogatari. As always, a classic. Kizumonogatari is new for me... It's very artistic.
Will probably finish Mushoku Tensei tonight before bed. It's been a real journey this one. And it just keeps getting more and more wild. I REALLY REALLY hope they announce a Season 2 soon.

Finished Mushoku Tensei. What can I say... It was just a great romp from beginning to end. Definitely one of the better Isekai out there, and that's definitely worth a note considering how flooded that genre is. Not to mention the production values for this anime were pretty amazing the whole way through. With this one you really get a bunch of everything, Action, Romance, Drama, and Comedy.

Also finished the 3 Kizumonogatari movies. These were new for me, although I knew a good chunk of the story from bits and pieces of the book. It was a wonderful trilogy and very artistic, about what you expect from SHAFT with a movie budget.

Been making some good progress. So now the list looks like this:

Attack on Titan: 50/??
Nisemonogatari: 0/11
Castlevania: 11/32
Abenobashi: 0/13

Dark Schneider is such a chuuni name. :flare_lmao:
It really is lmao. The manga was really fun, I'm sad it's been on hiatus for so long. (12+ years now i think?)
I'm really curious if the anime will inspire the author to start again or it's gonna stay dormant...

Saw that coming a mile away. Curious if it is the games story or will be new material. I actually kinda hope it is... different. An alternate route of some sort.

This Digimon Ghost Game episode is fantastic and horrifying! :fearful-face:
Yeah it was good. Surprisingly good action animation, plot movement and that opening section might have made this the darkest episode so far. Whew. While I'm pretty sure it wasn't the first human death, it was the first on-screen human death and ngl, that looked like an awful way to go

The atmosphere in the previous episode 19 was pretty dang good too. Gave me some existential horror vibes.
Very interesting way to end the conflict too. They straight up would have been wiped out of existence if Picklemon (is that seriouly the english name? lol) had tried to go for anyone other than Gammamon first. Whew.

Next episode seems to have Arukenimon so things aren't gonna be easy either.

Hey, nice! Now I only wish Crunchy would improve the app for SmartTV's. It's ok on Tablet/Phone, but on Android TV it is very slow and laggy for me.

Love Live new activities. I assume it's Animated even if it isn't an anime series as such?

lovelive! The virtual school idol activity, which will be developed as a new project in the series, will start in the fall of 2022! In this project, we will mainly distribute videos by members and cast, and develop in all media such as magazine development, music CD release, smartphone application, live event, etc. Traditional love live, such as the story development of the members and live events by the cast! While continuing to develop the content implemented in the series, we will provide users with new experiences on various platforms. Newly born love live! Please look forward to the new project!

BlackGalgomon. The Blackprefixmons seem to have something to do with GulusGammamon. The first time it showed up BlackAgumon was watching.
And BlackTailmon is also central to the plot what with it being the one that can create the gates to the Digimon world.

I don't really know where this is going, but I am intrigued!

Holy shit! Finally a second season, and the third season is confirmed as well. The story is pretty good, watch it!

The first season changed a lot of stuff, and wrote off the real main girl because she didn't have much story in the first three books. I wonder how they will put her back into the spotlight in this upcoming 2nd season.

Expected, but happy to hear it continues none the less. Season 1 was spectacular and quite fresh feeling despite Isekai being such an overpopulated genre.

Saw Inu-Oh today at Glasgow film festival

I have to admit I was a bit disappointed, but fwiw I’m not too familiar with the creator’s previous works.
It has a novel premise and I really liked the ending but otherwise felt it’s pacing frequently lagged and I found it difficult to keep up with some of the specifics of the world building

Kyoto Animation store and office is forever closed to the real world. From now, only the online store will be available.

It had been closed after the arson which killed 36 in 2019. They planned to re-open the store for in-person shopping, however as we all know Covid hit. Well, Covid isn't going away and the world has changed. So I guess it was Yesterday, KyoAni dropped the news.

Well I guess this only matters if you ever planned to visit Kyoto, but still.

The season is nearing its end so I'm starting to watch some more stuff, the first being Rust-Eater Bisco, which I caught up with today. I heavily recommend it.
It's really really good and just oozes style.

I remember Cacher posted the trailer some months back :steam_pigblanket:

Nice, I already toyed with watching anime again since Cacher glowing recommendation of Ghost Game, but this one interested me a lot when it was announced, too. Is it on CR ?
...yes it is ! only for me to shell out the sub and... face their trainwreck of a media player.

Ghost Game is very interesting. It started out very strong, then slowly introducing the main characters in the next 10+ episodes. When I started to feel the formula getting a bit stiff and dull, they decided to drop the bomb.

Every episode after the bomb is fantastic. Drip-feeding information of the main story line in-between side story, and the event happening just escalated more and more. Recent episodes I always asked the question when watching: wait, this show is for kids? How?

Hopefully Toei can recover from the attack asap. I need the show to come back into my life.

Yeah, Ghost Game is the complete opposite of Digimon Adventure 2020, which felt like it pretty much skipped the build up/character development, I ended dropping that one around episode 15 or so.

Somebody mentioned to me that the anime will end soon and the actual conclusion for AoT will come from a movie? If this is true, not gonna lie, I'll be a bit miffed. We've waited so long as is... The whole reason I watched the series from Ep.1 again was because I thought this was it, the final push so to say...

And they've wasted so much time this season. Multi-minute recaps at the start of some episodes, multiple minutes wasted on just screaming Titan faces when 5 seconds would have done. Etc... 😕

Feels weird man.

Judging by the name of next episode we are ending with chapter 131/132 of the manga. The animals did pretty consistently +-1.5 chapter per episode ... manga ended on chapter 139 .... so 7 chapters left is not really enough for another season but ideal for movie.

So let's the animators rest a bit .. the last few episodes were pretty damn tight

The movie is just a theory, nothing official has been announced yet.
That said, there's only one episode left, since this week will be skipped iirc, so there's clearly no way this is the end.
It's legit very frustrating, you'd think the final seaso nwas the final season, but then it was just season 4... with season 5 and season 6/movie coming after.

I really don't get why they named it the way they did
