I think the opinion is pretty polarized because of bad pacing in the first half and the story doesn't feel like a One Piece movie in some places. But all the fight scenes are beautifully executed. Also the ending is perfect.

Sucks to hear that some fans got mad towards Ado. Some lyrics are pretty weird but the songs are cool to listen to so I am totally fine with them.

Personally I really enjoyed my time. Wouldn't call it masterpiece but it is pretty darn good and I am sure it will become a classic to some fans while a trash movie to some others.
Yea the last few films weren't exactly great anyway so my expectation for the films aren't as high as others, like Stampede just felt like a fanservice film and feels more like a dragonball movie than one piece, it's a fun time albeit a bit too long, so I could see that kind of bad pacing carried over to film RED again, but people need to remember Oda didn't do the screenplay for these things lol, they're mostly fan service and just want people to have a good time.

Yo, today's Ghost Game episode went hard :sweaty-blob:
Really intense, but Gammemon still managed to still be precious.

Preview for next week looked intense as well.

Opinions on Netflix Ghost in the Shell series? (2045)

Personally, I've enjoyed every GitS to date. Including ARISE, and the 2004 Innocence movie.
The only thing I didn't like was the live-action Scarlet Johan movie... 😓

I wish I didn't hate the character designs, but I really do. They had such a great design language in the origin SAC that it's just a shame we didn't get them at least closer to that.

So I'm interested to hear answers to this as well. I guess I'd be willing to give it a shot if I heard that the story was really good. My girlfriend watched it without me during the pandemic and didn't seem all that excited, so I'll see.

I finally watched Eva Rebuild 3.0+1.01 on the weekend. I don't mind watching Farmer Ayanami for half the movie. It's quite relaxing. The “quiet apocalypse” thing they had going on remind me a bit of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, which I love.

I laughed a lot at the leap of logic when they were discussing Shinji's synchro rate. Like the rest of Eva in general, most of the science jargon is just word vomit, but we're not here for that, aren't we?

As a long time fan, it's nice to see the callbacks to the original series as well. There are obviously a lot of service scenes and the ending is open for interpretation, but it's also a good sendoff for Eva. It's a fair bit of departure from EoE, obviously, but a welcome one.

Kakeguruii Twins still weirds me out as a concept, cuz why would you do this instead of continuing the story arc the last season only reached the halfway point of? But it was in itself a nice watch. The OP is wildly disappointing tho, compared to the two before.

I wouldnt really call it a departure, much more of a b-side.
It's basically the same story, basically the same themes and messages, but wrapped in an all around more positive, optimist package.

I watched The Witch from Mercury Prologue earlier tonight.

It was alright. The mecha design looks great in motion, and the story hook come rather strongly. I hope it's not just going to be another revenge story, though.

I'm looking forward to the series premiere next month.

Finished my re-watch of Ghost in the Shell ARISE and the new movie.
Really wonder why people hate these so much. Does it do anything revolutionary? No. But it doesn't really do anything bad either.

If anything it's a net positive to the overarching GitS Universe given how much pre-SAC background building it offers. :thinking-face:
=====

Lately I've been wanting to catch up on some Gundam stuff too. But it's really split across different streaming services...

I think once I get used to GitS ARISE's character designs, I enjoyed it a lot. :flare_lmao:

I might give the new SAC series a go at some point. I remember not being too keen on the whole 3D-ness of it.

Ah yeah. I'm getting there too. Gonna re-watch the movies and SAC(2000's) first though.
SAC 2045 is the latest one chronologically. I think the designs and character art is fitting, but the realization of those designs was let down by the 3D instead of more traditional animation. Unfortunately it doesn't look like 3D is going anywhere, in-fact more and more studios are adapting it or using it more frequently in anime.

... So we can only really hope 3D artists/programs get better at adapting anime style. 😓

SAC 2045 season 1 kinda sucked (although it got better towards the end). I enjoyed season 2 a whole lot more... It improved a lot from a visual stand point. One of my biggest complaints however is that they introduced too many new characters and focused on Togusa and Batou quite a bit, so it felt like Motoko took a backseat this series.

As for Edgerunners, I'm enjoying it so far but goddamn do I hate the music they used for it.

I knew it was gonna happen. I saw everything a mile away.

I'm only halfway through the series myself, and it's already death flags by the wholesale :flare_lmao:

It's still a great series, though. I really loved Yoh Yoshinari's designs in this. Becca is such a gremlin lmao.

Is The Witch from Mercury related to the main Gundam canon or is it something else ? Can I watch it without having watched any Gundam ?

Yesterday I ressubed to CR on a whim, I’m in one of those period when I don’t know what I want and try things, so in this case try to watch anime for more than one evening. And yeah, I never finished Gridman, ashamed.

Mercury started bad then came out great. I didn’t feel that much interest in a fucking prequel you see the main points of far in advance, but the first episode was surprisingly great.

Mob Psycho 100 first two episodes were great too. Not a fan of the constant talking or screaming, with relatively no pause. It makes for a tiring experience, particularly with subs. And I’m not in love with One blending in existential drama, but maybe it hit too close to home. But yeah, extremely solid, and unlike the manga you don’t bleed from your eyes while looking at it.

I have just a final word for Cacher and Ascheroth
Are you paid by TOEI ?

Kidding obviously but I watched the first two Digimon after your months long PR campaign and, globally, meh ? It has some cheap art but it has its charm, the characters are alright, the opening is very Scooby Doo (so great) and I see it invokes some horror vibes but globally, it was really childish.
But I may not be the target audience at all, I never watched a Pokemon (let alone Digimon) anime, I have zero pre existing sympathy for the concept. The worst part for me may have been the monster design, while Mommymon with a machine gun was pretty stupid, nothing could beat Clockmon lame design.
All of this being my early feedback, I’m not opposed to continuing, just not sold.

Mob Psycho 100 episode 3 was great. Enjoyed it far more than the manga.
Digimon is beginning to be a decent watch with 3 & 4.

New season picks! Still catching up with some of the last season's leftovers, but still keen on the following:

Gundam Utena
Urusei Yatsura 2022
Muv-Luv Alternative S2
Neue LoGH - Collision S2

There's a couple of CGDCT shows as well, but that can wait until later.
