Edit: Changed the poll so you get 3 choices.

It's been a while but I thought I should finish up the decade.

I’ve included the top 2 games from each thread in the poll above, or in the case of a tie, the top 3.

Also go ahead and list your top 10 games from the decade in a post below. If there are enough posts I will compile them into a separate ranking here:
  • Leave the games unranked and I will distribute 2 points each to the first 10 games in your post.
  • Rank the games using numbers and I will distribute points as 3-3-3-2-2-2-2-1-1-1 to your first 10 games.

Neat list! Sorry " The Secret of Monkey Island", but I had to cut you out. Out of that selection I picked :

"Castlevania: Symphony of the Night", "Sonic the Hedgehog 2". and "Final Fantasy VII".

What's funny is that there are games on that list that I still want to play but haven't got to them just yet! The struggle to clear them pesky backlogs is truly futile.

I voted for

1. Sonic the Hedgehog 2
An important game of my childhood and also an overall solid and lovely 2D platformer. Granted the end stages in various platformers can be irritatingly annoying, but until then, even this game offers a fun experience IMO.

2. Full Throttle
This was among the FIRST PC games I got hooked onto way back during the mid to late 90s. It may not be the greatest PnC made, heck it is pretty simple compared to many more worthwhile PnC Games, but I rank it #2 for me simply for how it was an important part of my PC gaming experience.

3. Curse of Monkey Island
The very first Monkey Island game I ever played. As a child, I asked my older cousin to play it for me, but the jerk only played the end game for me >=/
While I can concede to the first 2 games being better, Curse is a nice adventure all its own, plus it features the late Alan Young as Haggis.

4. Final Fantasy VII = Chrono Trigger
OK I am cheating here, aren't I? Well it's fine if they don't get counted, but I'd be lying if I said FF7 isn't a major part of my gaming experience as a child. I was VERY into this game and it got me interested in S-E's bigger jRPG library. I would possibly say that Chrono Trigger is the better game, but FF7 has an aesthetic and presentation that just grabs you and indulges you in its setting, characters and story.
Nowadays I am not all that into FF7, at least until an eventual playthrough, but I have to give FF7 credit, and commend CT for being a nice jRPG on its own esp. with its pedigree.

I'm terrible at ranking what I like the most... So I'm just going to go with the Monkey Island "trilogy." I don't think they are objectively the best games of the decade, but out of those listed they are definitely the ones I cared about the most during that time frame. Me and my brothers loved them at the time and worked together to figure out the puzzles so I have really warm memories of them.

This one really tough but I think its gonna have to be Sonic 2, Super Mario 64 and Half-Life.

I've been a massive Sonic fanboy since I was a toddler so gotta stick to my guns with this one.

SimCity 2000, Monkey 2, Duke Nukem 3D were my choices, without much hesitation. But the list is (naturally) missing some of my favourites... but these three games I will always easily stand behind anyway.

Lol, one vote for Doom. Like how in the fuck... One vote!

Has any meta member besides the two of us ever played it?

Genuinely curious, how do you vote for half life but not Doom? Memories only? Play them back to back this weekend, you'll see what held up.

Since DOTT (day of the tentacle) is missing, all votes for Doom.

1. Doom- Do you enjoy FPS games?
2. Doom- Is modding something your interested in?
3 Doom- Ever play a deathmatch game
4 Doom- Half Life isn't fun to play in 2020, Doom is fucking ageless.
5 Doom- Bill Gates hawked this in the 90s as a system seller for Windows
6 Doom- Doom 2 is amazing as well
7 Doom- Will play on any PC.

It's so hard for me to pick three games.

Even abandoning my undying love for Tenchu as it was mediocre in most people's eyes, Metal Gear Solid, Homeworld, and Heroes of Might and Magic 3 are high 9's if not 10s, each. And none of them are on the lists.

Castlevania: SOTN is a 10/10 IMO as well.
