It is kinda amazing and annoying to me that when I play a round or two of Underlords on my iPad it jumps to the first spot in the recent games so I could theoretically play it with just one click on my PC. Would be good for when I want to play Underlords on my PC. Sadly, that is rarely the case and keeps me one click more away from starting the game I want to play

I'm not so sure. The game is on Game Pass as well, so a lot of people will play through there (also, the regional pricing sucks in most countries).
Well Steam version elts you get both Steam and Xbox cheevos and you can mod the game.

I think you can unlock them ingame or through some kind of season pass now IIRC?
Which control scheme were you using? If tank controls aren't your thing, maybe try the remaster controls which are just normal 3D movement, or vice versa.
