Okay I lost six lbs and it stayed off.

New concept: poultry, fish, eggs, veggies, and fruits only. I also throw in some cottage cheese and plain yogurt if I'm feeling a little #sassy

If I feel guilty after eating a tortilla, I know I'm in a good place again. Sad but true.

Time to walk the dog more and force myself out of bed for short gym sessions prior to work

I've been eating a lot of mixed nuts, in fact I've been eating them every day after dinner for nearly a year and didn't skip a day... They're not killing me (or are they?) so I didn't stop

I guess general fitness posts would fit in this thread.

I've been working on my running speed these days, I run every morning and I've improved on my stamina over the past months, but could never seem to run fast consistently, some days I could run quick and feel as light as a feather but that's rare, I'm not sure if that's just a mental or physical thing, most days I struggle to keep up with some random old dudes who just fly right past me :p I like to imagine those are some highly trained marathon runners and they have been running their entire life or something to make myself feel better.

It's been almost a year since I quit alcohol and ran every morning, I'm not young so the one thing I learned from this is that the body is incredibly durable if you use it. Considering most of the people I see running out in the cold are old farts more than young teenagers.

I been putting off going to the gym for so long because it's so expensive, so now finally I just ordered two dumbbells at 15kg each, should be enough to start working out again. Later I think I'm going order one of those boards for doing sit ups. (yes I know one can do that just on the floor, but I can't, it messes up my back)

Also great news about the alcohol Anteater !

Congrats! That's a big change and something to be proud of! :)

And don't worry, you'll find that speed you're looking for more consistently with some more time. You're absolutely right that it can be a physical or mental thing though. If there's a day that I didn't get enough sleep or my depression is hitting me harder than normal then I have to keep reminding myself while exercising to pick up the pace.

Also I gotta say I'm a little jealous of those old folks that are still running around like that, always amazes me. Hopefully I'm still that spry at their age.

Congrats to you as well! :blobcheer:

Taking that first step to start or get back to exercising is always so tough.

My path was pretty similar, wanted to go to a gym for access to better equipment but where I live there's none nearby and as you said they're pretty expensive to begin with. So I picked up some weights, a jump rope and better running shoes eight years ago and never looked back.

So I find out soy milk actually works well with coffee, it's tasty and I think pure soy milk without added sugar has a sweet taste to it already.

Thanks!

Grats on starting out with the weights! I can't do sit ups on the floor either, it would probably mess up my spine/pelvis bone, I'm not sure why it's that way, I used to be able to do them when I was a kid.

Congrats! That's a big change and something to be proud of! :)

Thanks, I think those old folks will probably continue to run for many years to come, I'm going to try the same and plan to remain active, it's really good for my mental health for one :thumbsupblob:

I probably am.

It's been almost a month since the last time I had a lunch. Nowadays, I only have a heavy breakfast at 7AM, something like 3 slices of breads, a couple of eggs, and seaweeds. Then I only buy a small pack of fruits from the convenient store for lunch, and have dinner at 6PM. But I didn't really plan this. It just came naturally as we didn't really have the time to prepare for my lunch pack anymore in the morning these days.

My lunch:
I feel like 2 meals are enough anyway (obviously depends on the person and how much they need to eat each day), I haven't eaten breakfast since I became an adult unless I eat with my family or something, and I could spend over 2 hours outdoor in the morning jogging, I don't feel the need to eat before it. It's probably more logical to eat after waking up because you have energy for the rest of the day, but I will always feel hungry at lunch and I don't feel like breakfast makes much of a difference so I just skip that shit, small breakfast isn't enough and a big breakfast will just make exercising annoying so fuck it.

Another annoying thing is that if you eat out, restaurants mostly serve you bullshit in the morning that cost too much for what they're worth. Over here they literally serve 2 eggs with some instant noodles as a breakfast meal and it costs fucking 4-5 dollars.

I usually have my morning exercise before breakfast, but only 30 minutes or so of walking/jogging. I'm not really planning to become ripped or something like that, just trying to be healthy and fill the minimum 2000 steps each day. Then I have my breakfast right after that. 4-5 dollars for a breakfast is outrageous though, luckily I always make my own breakfast.

Man I'm not a fan of strength training, it's a year and I still hate doing them, and I only do bare minimum and nothing like going to the gym, I just do a few situps/pushups and a few reps of lifting a dumbbell every couple days, I sometimes get lazy and skip a week here and there too, I only do them just so I could some muscles so I'm not all fat/bones.

I skipped out on doing squats for a few weeks and started doing them again just last week (because I thought it'd surely make me run faster!) and I was in a world of pain when I do my morning runs, feeling much better after a full week though.

I'm tempted to get Ring Fit Adventure (and a switch) just to force myself to do some squats.

I'm on a 1600 calories diet, cheat meals are absolutely on a bi weekly basis but I still lost almost 7 kgs in 5 weeks. To be honest it doesn't feel like I'm on a diet and I lowkey love it

Im back! Lost a lot of (probably water) weight (4kg) these past two weeks and im past the "IM DYING" phase and now can actually run full 10,000 steps (im using the Google Fit recs lmao) without me wheezing and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. The entire household is full of nutellas, biscuits, fried rice, baked shenanigans, cakes, kakanin (sticky rice glorious foods), but you cant put that evil in me! Christmas in the Philippines is just over the top with this gluttonous shit. Starting tomorrow, I'm just going to run to the Church for the "Simbang Gabi", a nine-day mass celebrated at dawn to practice diligence to sync my sleep and to complete the 10,000 steps before the sun rises. Feels good.

This aint going to be forever, may be around the end of January, and I'll reintroduce the carbs but since I now have the discipline and control to what I eat, I'm not going to be obese again. Hooo!

Keto? It works like a gem. Lost 10 lbs a month doing that once. 50 total.I got too comfortable and fell back into old habits unfortunately.

I've been giving vegetarian a shot lately. Just sorta happened naturally with my increase of veggies and fruit.

Take my eggs away and I'll kill you though lol.

Managing calories is kinda a pain, been trying to keep at 1500-1600 so I can lose 1KG every week or two. Roasted Potatoes, Watermelon/fruits and meat makes me feel really full, but it does get boring at times.

Been sticking with vegetarian. Feels good. Lots of beans and eggs. Lots of fruit: apples, oranges, bananas

Girl who sits next to me in my office keeps bringing in home baked cookies and banana bread.

I'm tryna lose weight you devil woman

Man I've been eating like crazy these past few days, with zero exercise on top of that 'cause I was under the weather. Thankfully I have no weight issues but I need to slow the fuck down, festivities or not. Jeez.

Nuts and beans are better than cookies and bread. Although I'm not sure if nuts are good for losing weight as I was told they're a bit high in calories, but it's what I eat anyway.

I refuse to believe nuts and beans are bad for you.

Like I've never seen someone with a weight problem and thought, "boy, they must eat a lot of nuts and beans"

I mean, not all calories are created equal - right?

I'm groaning about being 180lbs (5'9") here. Just finished my dinner of 2 baked potatoes w/ salt and hot sauce + an avocado. Honestly, I think I can lose weight like this. Can't go back to keto, I just don't have the stomach for it any more.

And here I am thinking about getting some cookie dough ben & jerries while I watch The Witcher...

At least I try to light weights every day! Nice to actually feel my arm muscles again.XD
Hey we have the same favorite ice cream 🙂

Muscle retention has been difficult for me. ive got noodle arms, and have never been able to shape up in that manner

I'm already bald. I dont have enough personality to be fat and weak also lol

What do you lift? You do it at home or a gym?

I basically gave up on body building, I don't like to lift.

I just do some quick lifting every few days to complement my running, as long as my arms aren't all fat I'm happy :p It's just too much effort for me and I rather do something else, I remember being in my teens I could gain some chest/back muscles just by halfassing some pushups, that doesn't seem to work anymore at this age so I said screw it.

I have 2 x 15kg weight, that I have set to 10kg now that I train with at home. I don't do that much yet, still figuring out how to do a good workout.

Day two of doing 50 push-ups a day complete. I'm seeing if I can go a whole month

I actually have been following this up with 50 kettlebell swings aftwards also

Every day at work, I bring a can's worth of black beans along with a banana, an apple, and an orange.

Lord help me, I wont let comfort food and depression win.

I want to lose a minimum of 15 lbs by spring.

My farts are brutal
