I think the reason Gears 5 didn't do all that well is because Gears 5 is the only Gears game on Steam, it has mixed Steam reviews, lots of people only interested in the campaign (like me) so they just played through it on game pass, Gears 4 is only on Windows Store and is neither very good (played through it).
None of my friends and colleagues bought it because it's heavily overpriced here in Europe. If Microsoft keeps charging €70 for their games, the success of the Xbox brand will be limited to the USA on PC as well.

Haha yeah some Nioh side missions are intense.
I'm in region 4 now, after the ninja mansion mission and the Lv 70 sidemission at the end of region 3 was :sweaty-blob:
That Onryoki without the chain-balls, it literally killed me with a single hit with every attack.
Wait until you get to a mission in a bathhous. I hope you like the Tengus... :besorgterfrosch:

After I've put a Sloth talisman on them, then maaaaybe. :02dead:
Magic is something I haven’t looked into at all. Because after the first two level I didn’t think it was that hard. Apart from the end of the mission I just did there was no real obstacle for me. But I thought about respecing for some buffs.

Yo, the X1 Fold looks really slick. Being able to use a Windows machine like a tablet and quickly switch to a laptop mode sounds super useful.
Very cool to see foldables gaining traction. Still remember years and years ago seeing a Youtube video of Sony I think demonstrating a prototype folding display.

One character route finished in SaGa SG, onto Urpina then the other 2. I expect each playthrough to be at least 20 hours long @_@

Welcome to the second PC Gaming MetaCouncil GOTY (Games of the Year) awards! This year, we will also vote for the Game of the Decade 201X (2010-2019), as well as the best ongoing game, the best Early Access game, and the best VR game. It is also possible to vote for the most disappointing game in a separate category.

Previous Year's Results: Community - MetaCouncil's PC Games of the Year Awards 2018 | Results

To cast your ballot, read the rules first and send me a PM to ask for a link to the Frama form.

The categories for voting are:
  • Game of the Year 2019 Award
  • Game of the Decade 201X (2010-2019) Award
  • Ongoing Game of the Year (optional)
  • Early Access of the Year (optional)
  • VR Game of the Year (optional)
  • Turd of the Year (optional)
GOTY Award:
  • Up to 5 choices can be submitted (ranked voting without point):
    5th Choice
    4th Choice
    3rd Choice
    2nd Choice
    1st Choice
  • For the 1st Choice, you will need to write a short text to explain why you have chosen it as your GOTY. It could just be a sentence, do not worry.
GOTD Award:
  • Up to 10 choices can be submitted (ranked voting without point):
    10th Choice
    9th Choice
    8th Choice
    7th Choice
    6th Choice
    5th Choice
    4th Choice
    3rd Choice
    2nd Choice
    1st Choice
  • For the 1st Choice, you will need to write a short text to explain why you have chosen it as your GOTD. It could just be a sentence, do not worry.
Other awards:
  • Ongoing, Early Access, VR, and Turd of the Year are all optional voting criteria, one vote for each criterion.
Eligibility:
  • Any game fully released on PC in 2019 is eligible for Game of the Year. This includes remakes and remasters, provided that there is a new executable. Episodic content is eligible for GOTY if the last episode was released in 2019.
  • Any game fully released on PC between 2010 and 2019 is eligible for Game of the Decade. This includes remakes and remasters, provided that there is a new executable. A remake/remaster/update of a game released during that time frame will count separately only if both versions are currently available to purchase on Steam, e.g. DARK SOULS™: Prepare To Die™ Edition is not eligible, as it is no longer available to purchase, you should vote for DARK SOULS™: REMASTERED instead. Episodic content is eligible for GOTD if the last episode was released in the correct time frame.
  • Any game released prior to 2010 which received content updates between 2010 and 2019 is also eligible for Game of the Decade. New content can be in the form of patches, DLC or general updates, but not bug fixes. (i.e. League of Legends and Minecraft are eligible)
  • Any game fully released prior to 2019 which received content updates in 2019 is eligible for Ongoing Game of the Year. New content can be in the form of patches, DLC or general updates, but not bug fixes.
  • Any game released into Early Access (or equivalent) on PC in 2019 is eligible for Early Access of the Year.
  • Any game fully released on PC in 2019 which requires or recommends the use of a VR headset is eligible for VR Game of the Year.
  • Any game fully released on PC in 2019 is eligible for Turd of the Year. We're looking for the worst games.
  • As MetaCouncil is a predominantly English language website, any game getting an English translation in the correct time frame can be eligible.
To prevent mix up, please copy the title of the game you wish to vote for from Steam (or other platform if only available there) precisely, including trademark notices, e.g. if you want to vote for RE7, put 'RESIDENT EVIL 7 biohazard / BIOHAZARD 7 resident evil' into the voting form, or if you want to vote for Witcher 3, put 'The Witcher® 3: Wild Hunt' as that's what it comes under on Steam. I will be parsing the votes to try to get everything counted, but this sort of consistency will help.

Do not...
  • Do not choose a game from previous years (Ongoing ) or from future years (Early Access) as part of the GOTY section.
  • Do not choose a game from future years (Early Access) as part of the GOTD section.
  • Do not submit the same game more than once in the same category. This only applies to GOTY and GOTD, separately.
  • Do not vote twice, if there is a problem contact me.
You can...
  • You can choose VR games for the GOTY/GOTD sections.
  • You can submit games from any PC store front (Epic, GOG, Origin, Steam, etc.).
  • You can submit less than 5 games for GOTY, but you must submit at least 1 game.
  • You can submit less than 10 games for GOTD, but you must submit at least 1 game.
Other small notes
  • Any rogue ballot or tampering will result in the ballot being disqualified.
  • Do not share the link, it is only for you and it is to verify who has posted.
  • If there is a problem, please contact me.
Deadline: Sunday 19th January at 00:00 GMT / Saturday 18th January at 19:00 EST.
Guess I will quote this so that people remember to vote.

Man, RE7 is fantastic. I'm playing with headphones and I nearly shit myself a couple of times. It's really useful though, you can tell very accurately where the enemies are by the sound of their footsteps, the cat and mouse games get incredibly tense, haven't felt like this since Alien Isolation and I love it!

I wish I haadn't taken so long to play through Witcher 3. Owned it for however many years and it's finally taken me this long to sit down and put 100+ hours into it.
Beating up the Wild Hunt is really satisfying, even if, three games in, I stlil enjoy the switching combat styles of part 1 the most.

Well, this is neat. Turns out for some titles there's actually a small performance improvement between using 2 RAM sticks and 4 RAM sticks in dual-channel. Interesting!
Until this video I'd only ever heard the opposite, but the rank never came up.

So this is only true with single rank DIMMs, which is interesting because I don't buy extremely costly RAM but my DIMM are dual rank (according to CPUID)... yet this guy says most consumer RAM is single rank. Maybe most meaning budget builds and OEM?

If it's 8GB DIMMs or less, it's probably SR. 16GB DIMMs, it's DR.

Well I've reached my limit for boring BS in an ubisoft game far quicker than usual in New Dawn. I've gotten sick of the stupid enemy tiers and like all of their other games since ac odyssey it's obvious why they do this. They're doing it for MTX reasons and not because it makes the games better. In New Dawn there's not even any changing stats on guns or customization options, the entire game's structure is based around the 4 tiers (grey, blue, purple, yellow). You can shoot someone in the face with a rocket and it can do 10% damage if it's a lower tier weapon. It's the most lazy tacked on rpg mechanic they've ever done.

Oh and of course you can buy the best weapons in the game well ahead of time or even at the beginning with "far cry coins". They're not even trying to hide why they did this shit.

Hopefully if it tanks on Xbox they release the PS4/Switch/PC versions instead of jumping straight to “guess nobody wants pso2 after all” and shudders it.

Ubisoft has had a rough year. People didn't like New dawn that much. Division 2 didn't do that well compared to the first and Breakpoint seemed to be a shit sandwich altogether. Also they delayed a lot of the early 2020 games.

They've been so up and down this entire gen. I wonder how long this phase of turning singeplayer games into live service works out for them. They are so inconsistent. The strategy is too risky as your long term profit/service design becomes shit unless the game is really really good.

Funny how the most successful thing they've done this gen turned out to be Siege. A game that is not some giant open world grindfest. Nope just a basic multiplayer/competitive esports game. Probably the cheapest thing they've done and wound up making the most money off of it.

It has a lot of good passives.
The only active one I've been using so far has been the Guardian Spirit Talisman, which I really like. It's effect depends on the equipped guardian spirit, so it's basically a bunch of skills in one.
I did the 15 Magic Dojo mission yesterday and that's where you had to fight a Tengu and were provided with a Sloth Talisman - I've decided that will be my next purchase once I've got some skill points.

Last Ubi game i bought was Anno1800 and it may well be the last one for a long time. Their games just dont really interest me anymore. I enjoyed the Far cry games but have 5 and have only played an hour or two. Bounced of AssCreed Origins after about 10hours of grinding levels. I dont play multiplayer games so Division etc dont interest me. Havent fired up the Uplay client for a long time.

Besides being a little too obtuse at times (really, why the FUCK was the echoing flute in the middle of the GODDAMN OCEAN), I actually really enjoyed Dragon Quest II. Now I'm pretty excited for Dragon Quest III, since everyone and their mother says it's still in the top 3 DQ games (well, depending on who you ask). Can't wait to get started!

CoD MW2 so far is...OK?

I got to the US town mission and man that mission just made me roll my eyes on this game's themes;
Every other house has an American flag on its porch
You battle around a fast food joint called 'Burger Town' and its surrounding area
The music is sombre early on

The overall setting is just off, kinda hard for me to take its themes too seriously when my last line of defense is a burger joint
In America

Meanwhile is South America, let us not feel bad for the poor sods who are caught in the fire fight between armed militia and US sanction military unit

Visuals wise, Some textures are low res, but Acti obv. improved on that in later COD games

Xbox is getting exclusive access to the closed beta, but I haven't heard anything about a delayed PC version yet, SEGA's official PSO2 twitter account is still saying that the PC version is coming this spring.
While it's possible the XBox and PC launches are not simultaneous (with how vague they're being about release dates), if there's any delay for the PC version, it'll be a short one.

About barely any talk from SEGA, the official twitter account for the game has been pretty active lately:

Also I wouldn't count on a switch version. They ended going with a cloud/streaming only version for the JP switch version because of how big the game is (60~70+ GB on PC and growing).

Scarlet Grace unironically has the best turn-based battle system of essentially any RPG I've played. Seriously.
