That's the point where I just turned on full god mode with the Bag of Tricks mod. Then just went on a full insta-death murder rampage to get through the last 2 areas. It was worth it to not just leave the game dangling.
That's a good idea. I already have bag of tricks installed so I just might go that route.

ETA: What games has everyone played the longest that they never actually finished? I think this one is a record for me.
FF9. The final boss is just so bad, and Grand Cross stoned 3 of my allies and berserked vivi so i actually couldn't do anything and for some reason the boss couldn't kill vivi cuz i think he had regen on, so I had to either wait a long time to die or soft reset. Told myself I was gonna go back and finish it, but honestly just didn't care enough to see it through and eventually lost my save file. Game went from one of my favorite FF's to one of my most "meh" ones in that moment.

Still don't even know how the game ends to this day lol.

That reminds me of my one and only FFVIII playthrough. I got to Ultimecia's castle, lost all of my abilities and then got constantly lost in the castle itself. I didn't love the game enough to force myself through it so I ended up bailing there. Maybe I will give it another go with the remaster someday.

Well I think I am throwing in the towel on Pathfinder: Kingmaker. I made it 139 hours but just can't force myself to do the final two dungeons when I have other stuff I would rather play. I guess I just hit a wall and losing a companion really kinda soured me on finishing. I will be cautiously optimistic about the next game and hope they fix some of their missteps.

ETA: What games has everyone played the longest that they never actually finished? I think this one is a record for me.
I can't actually think of anything significant. For a long time that was probably FF12 for me, burned out at the end back in the day. Then later emulated and played through.

But beyond that, can't think of anything. If the game takes me over the initial hump, I tend to finish it.

I never finished FFVII despite starting it many times. When It came out I was living abroad in a NTSC region and my Playstation was PAL. I bought it when I was back home for a short break and didn't notice the last disc was missing. So it got played right up until I was asked to insert the last disc.
Every other play through since then whether on PS or Vita or PC, I get close to to the end and just never seem to sustain the interest long enough to finally get there.

Finally they want people with business level English or better, which also makes people suspect these will be global products!
I really hope so, otherwise I have little hope we're getting the games localized....

PC is sold. You’ve serve me well, be good to your new owner!

You did the right thing.

In a couple of months Valve will kill off M/KB gaming for good with their VR exclusive Half-Life game.

Soon after they will kill off the need for hardware altogether with their cloud service.

Soon PC gaming will just become wireless VR headsets which stream your favorite trashy anime game.

Everyone better hug their desktop towers while they still can. PC gaming is dying and times are changing.

A heads-up: I was checking SteamDB, and I noticed there's a DLC for Megadimension Neptunia VII (Million Arthur) that was removed from Steam.
Probably the rights expired, since it's a character from another franchise.

If anyone is interested in getting it before it's gone for good, there's a few stores that are still selling it:

Always blows my mind that people can find a buyer for this kind of item. Did you take a significant loss on the sale price vs purchase? Was the buyer someone you know, online sale, etc?

I did take a loss all things considered but I sold it to a friend, so it doesnt bother me that much. I only sell electronics to friends in case something goes wrong, I don’t want psychopaths tracking me down if something doesnt work as intended.

Oh no, just realized that playing XB game pass games with the steam controller is going to be a problem!
Steam can set a global Desktop setting your controller. I use that for controlling the mouse and some shortcuts for the browser, but you can also just set it to normal Xinput bindings. That should make it work with gamepass games, just need to have Steam running in background

Mm I tried to use a steam controller config but didn't work, I can look around and some buttons work. Sure I could fiddle into it more but too tired this evening.XD I got spoiled with Prey that had native Steam controller support and it was so sweet!:D

Persona 5 is getting a bit boring now. Just took down the 4th villain/palace and Im in september.

Crossing my fingers I will finish it.
The 5th palace is the worst one in the game and is twice the length of any other palace, and story wise almost has nothing going on despite getting one of my favorite characters. I dropped the game for about half a year at around that spot.

Thankfully it does get significantly better after that, both the game and the palaces.

To add to the Windows Store hate, today it decided to reinstall Children of Morta by itself. It's not like it bugged out when I removed it, no. Apparently two days later, I should play it again.

Huh.

So this data is wrong?

Or Superdata doesn't count Rockstar Launcher number?
Either SuperData doesn't count Rockstar Launcher numbers at all or their original "407K in first month" figure was in fact for all sales (the wording was confusing), and the new 1M+ number is for all sales once more, in which case our data conflicts with theirs in a major way. We can't know for sure who is right, SuperData never says how they got any particular piece of data and lists many methods under their methodology like tracking credit card statements and even "being friendly with the publishers".

As for our Windows numbers, as with all of our numbers they are sample-based research, which means they aren't just "raw data" from XBOX Game Bar. The estimates are calculated by extrapolating percentages from our sample to the overall userbase. Take political polls for example - they poll 1000 people in a place with a million people and they don't tell you that 700 people will vote for Blue candidate and 300 for Red candidate, they tell you 700 thousand people will vote Blue aka 700.000 people or 70%.

It's true that this sample is Windows 10 users only, but that only affects the accuracy of the numbers if a game is unusually more or less popular on other platforms compared to Windows 10. This is a flaw in all sample-based research, applies to any other possible sample bias, and is why confidence levels and margins of error exist for this data, and why we have an ever-growing database of confirmed sales data that feeds an AI that detect biases in our sample and corrects estimates.

To conclude, mathematically speaking we are 90% confident that the real figure for RDR2 is somewhere 4-4.5M owners right now (the quoted tweet was from a month ago). We have no idea how much of that is EGS - we were just relaying VideGameBiz's report of SuperData's findings.

Even if all these people are using better metrics...I still find it hard to believe they would all of a sudden have accurate data from individual storefronts on a month by month basis. Seems like too big a of a leap for it to be happening as of late.
It's happening as of late because I got into it as of late. The developer of SteamSpy sure as fuck has no reason to post these numbers, and SuperData has been around for a while but their service is expensive as fuck and they rarely put out any concrete info outside of it.

EPIC and Valve are both private companies. Anything coming out of EGS should be looked as noise until they themselves post infographics. And even then those infographics need to be carefully examined since they fudge numbers using free game accounts, moneyhats, fortnite etc. And with Valve the only legit data we have is # of reviews + their end of the year platinum, gold, silver and bronze lists.

With something like Rockstar game launcher I don't see how anyone would have their data except Take-Two right now. Their earnings call in a few weeks should be the only reliable source. Assuming they even mention and not fudge their numbers too.
As for how we get the data, I refer to the method described above or our official about page. I use both Epic's official info graphics and Valve's publicly available data (reviews, concurrent players, end of year lists) and even individual developer/publishers sale data statements, but these things mostly already fall in line with our estimates.

Just smile and nod. You are in console space.
Haha, well, the only thing I will miss is Crash Nitro-Fueled online(give me a PC version, Acti!) and be able to access PS Plus discounts (not like I really used them much).

I play all online games on PC and the Plus games I already own or can buy on sale sometime.

Just gonna leave some impressions of Bloody Spell here for people who are interested.
  • The game is definitely a Souls clone, even down to the difficulty options referencing Souls games!
  • The combat is fun and it seems like the weapons have enough differences and combos to be interesting
  • A lot of the game is still in Chinese, I think I am nearing the end of the current available content though, but the first 2 or so hours are mostly in English
  • You cannot recover your Souls from your place of death, you have to get a skill which allows you to retain a percentage of them when you die, which is pretty damn frustrating when you lose 5k or more
  • The animations look good, and I really like the style of the armor items for the main character, fans of Fashion Souls should be happy with that
  • There are skills for everything, including a perfect dodge, and even to use the game's version of Estus requires a skill (Yes, you read that right)
  • The checkpoints are too far spread out for my liking, I think I have only seen 2 "bonfires" in the whole game and both of them were right before bosses
  • You play as a male character by default and there is an item to switch yourself to a female (complete with bouncing breasts) pretty early in the game, my issue with that is the clothing is locked when playing as the female character so you lose a lot of the customization aspect this way
  • The game has workshop support (which is mostly filled with female model swaps for the MC) which could lead to some cool mods down the line
Overall I am enjoying my time with it, and I'm looking forward to playing the finalized version at some point. $8 seems like a very good price for this, and I think the final game could shape up to be much improved.

I tried Gris... really tried.
It's a wonderful, wonderful animated movie.
It's an awful, awful game.
There is just no gameplay for 97% of the game... and the little there is is only interesting against the "antagonist" (and even then... not all of them). Everything else is just a complete bore of "casual" (that's being kind) platforming. If that, the underwater encounter made me stop, it's just a "playable" cinematic where you... don't do shit? Uncharted Raider sequences are more engaging than this.

Also... a touching experience? There is zero story at any point... except in the secret cut scene if you 100% the game. Like holy shit, what a sad fucking joke that is, glad I didn't bother.
And yeah, sadness yadda yadda, I've seen thousands of games talking about grief in a more interesting manner.

It's the indie equivalent of the AAA cinematic experience, with even less gameplay... and even less story. It's one sentence, and hours of pretty visuals and music to fill the void.
If you want videogames to be art, you'll have to do better than a student project in watercolors. Pretty, but almost meaningless.

"I've heard stories of your kind... You go into strangers' houses, helping yourselves to the content of their drawers and smashing all their pots"

This is what Japan has taught me.

Even Square Enix admits to its own wrong doings in DQB2.

I wonder where did you learn that this is something that you can do in RPGs? It's second nature when ever you play a JRPG to check everything

Finished Gris. It's dreamlike and looks great, but I wish there was more challenge or story. That underwater chase though 😱

So we should stop shitposting about any other place. Reddit, Twitter, Gaf, Steam, Facebook, PCGamer, etc.

Everything is fine, we just have to close our eyes.
You can do what you want, I'm nobody's boss or father. But if this is gonna be like one of those forums that keep track of what members of other forums are saying to talk shit about them, I'm out.

Don't like all the other-place-posting but given they involved members here directly by name it's natural it was discussed a bit this time...

Also that stuff is pages old by now, why bring it up again in the latest page just to say that rather than simply skip past it... Just saying...
I mentioned it because it happens way more often than I'd like, and it makes me uncomfortable. I don't want Meta to be seen as another forum obsessed with specific sites.

It's Skyrim, freaking Skyrim.

I've put 500 hours in it probably, spanning from the first release to the special edition. Main reason is, as you may have guessed, mods.

I don't shit on random Twitter or Reddit people either, and I can't recall seeing that here. I know many people react to what Tim Sweeney, for example, say on Twitter, but that's because he's an important figure in the industry, not a random member from another forum.

Remember me's Memory sections can make for an entire game on its own.
Yep, it's criminal how few of those sections there are. I would have paid good money for a memory remix DLC full of those puzzles.

Seeing how I like Samurai Jack I ended up buying the complete series on Blu-ray. It only cost me $45USD.

Jack never got his own game I think and instead was just a features character in games focused on CN shows.

There is a PS2 samurai jack game, dunno if any good. Also a GBA game.

Edit: Tartakovsky has a new promising looking series, I've not watched yet, I saw a facebook ad and the style was instantly recognizable somehow:

I am thinking I might take advantage of the sale to grab one of the many "favorite" games I don't own, like D:OS2 or Sekiro or even Witcher 3. It actually looks like there might be as many or more best-sales from my wishlist as the holiday sale so I need to skim through that too.
