I just realized CnC generals might finally be on steam 🙃

we’re any of you guys on SteamGaf back in like 2015-2016?
Got bored, earliest I can find for me was in the 2011 steam holiday sale thread. Moaning about Shogun 2 not being on sale yet. Oddly I still don't own it.

Did find a pic of Poppy though! Must have been 3-4 in that pic. She'll be 13 at the end of next month.

I cannot remember all the games which I own but could not play in good conditions, but I am trying to. From the top of my head:
  • The Witcher 3,
  • Yakuza 0,
  • Spyro.
Once I get my connection sorted so that I can use the Ethernet cable rather than the Wifi, I might finally be able to finish these decent games with Geforce Now.

I might purchase the Humble Choice more often as well.

Just wanna say that the Trump case is an absolute disgrace, if he was in west Europe, he would have been kicked out on his all powerfull ass long time ago.

Also, the Iowa caucus is really embarassing.

And lastly, every Norwegian I know wants Bernie as next POTUS, so that's nice to hear.

Other than that, Im download Scourgebringer on game pass, gonna try it before I buy it.

Scourgebringer plays really well, there's craaazy combos to pull in that game. Really nice.
On the other hand... as much as the skill tree is actually quite relevant, giving you brand new active skills, the rogue-like progression in suuuper bland... and you gain so few items that it's not very relevant.
Because there's so little content, it will last you a couple of hours if you're bad. Few zones, extremely limited room variety, few different ennemies, always the same bosses (again, why make rogue-likes if you always fight the same things all the time?).

Could be a very good game once fully released, but as it stands, it's hard to recommend for 15 bucks. It's on Gamepass though.

I can't even process that circus anymore, I literally don't have the energy, it's just beyond absurd, to the point where it doesn't feel real anymore.
I'm sorry for being so blunt but right now America is a fucking joke. This presidency is a disgrace and an embarassment for the USA on a level that is beyond anything I ever thought possible.

Anyway, I played through RE7 and the dlc through family sharing but it wont let me play one of the dlc's, Not A Hero, which was actually free. Anyone know the reason for that?

I'm a huge Metro fan but the game will run like shit on my PC, I'll have to wait on that one. I was going to wait until it's dirt cheap anyway because of the Epic stunt. Fuck'em.

Polititians in general are embarrassing. The difficult truth in American politics, and I'm sure elsewhere as well, is that each and every president is a horses ass. The good thing about this one is that he is so obvious about it. The next one will be an ass. Bernie Sanders is an ass. Obama was an ass too. Bush was a bigger disaster than any of them. The problem is having a short term power seeker be such a fixation of our political system and in the media. Everybody thinks the world changes on whether or not their guy is in charge, but the difference between candidates, parties, and the resulting "change" is extremely superficial. It doesn't matter who is president. Bottom line, people need to stop begging entrenched ruling classes for change.

Phew. Can you tell I hate the neverending election cycle in the US?

Edit: Err, I mean. Something something about steam. Go steam!

They’re bringing it back to Steam the minute the deal ends I guess lmao
The Steam version is already patched and functional since they had to support it for the people who preordered, relaunch this game is as easy as flipping a switch, you bet your ass they gonna flip that switch the second the deal expires, they have DLC to sell.

So they only plan to update the mobile app to add more security measures and not to make it more. Convenient and useful to end users?
I don't know what it's like i iOS, but the android app I feel is garbage. While security is always a plus for mobile apps, that's not the biggest issue with the steam app as it is now, so hopefully one day we'll get a redesign... then again we just got a new library layout after 14ish years.... im not holding my breath.

metro back on steam
I managed to read the 3rd book in anticipation (in less than a month, so quick for me), so yes I will be picking this up at some point. This is truly the one game I was bothered by the publisher's deal.

You know, Parsnip, context matters.

As the person who posted the tweets you speak of, who you never called out by name (something I personally find "impolite"; if you want to speak about me, or the content of my posts, don't do it indirectly, feel free to @ at me, or send me a PM, I'm more than happy to reply, and explain my point of view, and assume I'm wrong, if that's the case), but whose tweets you mentioned several times, even going as far as to call it "peak system warrior shit", allow me to correct you on something.

I don't have an "unhealthy" need to defend Valve. I'm probably the only guy in here that posts links to itch.io games, I own thousands of titles on GOG, I buy direct downloads all the time, and I pretty much use every legal PC store or launcher on the face of the planet (except the EGS, for reasons I frequently mentioned, directly related to what they did with several games I helped crowdfund, or pre-ordered).
On the last couple of Steam sales, I think I was a bit vocal on my disagreement on how they handled things, in terms of vouchers, in terms of rewards, and so on.
So yeah, I really don't think that's correct.

If you actually bothered to follow the sequence in which I posted those tweets, you would see that I was "calling out" Andrew Bado not because he said some bad things about Valve, but because he crowdfunded a game 7 years ago, with a delivery date of 6 years ago, and since then has worked on everything, but the game he crowdfunded. He is working on his 3rd game since then, plus yet more ports, but the game he crowdfunded is still not released, and frankly there's no expectations of it being released any time soon. The "Valve tweets" were posted as a reply to prudis, since he linked and quoted his last kickstarter update (dated 2017), and my reply had him using the same arguments about Steam being no longer viable two years later, which comes into play in the sense that he used that as a sort of justification for not working and releasing the game he ran a crowdfunding campaign for.

As for the Satisfactory tweet , it was posted, again as a follow up to other tweets, as a minor example of developers who previously antagonized, or even ridiculed, their potential customers, when they complained or voiced their disappointment about the game being exclusive to a single platform.

And my point for that, as I previously posted several times, is that in a time where indie developers and games struggle to have some visibility, I prefer to reward those who treat their customers right, and release their games on as many platforms as they can, instead of the ones that "lock" their games in exclusivity contracts, or who even go as far as to antagonize the people who are supposed to buy their games.
That's my personal opinion. I know many people disagree with it, and will run to buy the games of these developers as soon as they launch on Steam, or on whatever store they use, and that's fine. Like I also keep saying, I'll never try to tell anyone how to spend their hard-earned money.

But, I think I can still say, hopefully without being labelled a "system warrior", that it sucks to see developers who treat their customers well, offer excellent post-launch support, and still struggle to sell their games, and then a few spoiled brats, who signed exclusivity deals, antagonized their potential customers (as if they no longer needed to sell them their games), still being rewarded with constant free publicity, and then, when the exclusivity ends, with healthy sales. I'm not an apologist of rewarding "shitty" practices.
I didn't call you or anyone else out by name because system warrior doesn't describe anyone here as far as I know. It was just a general notion of stuff that I see out there. So I feel like you may have read too much into my post if you though I was doing that. Sorry if it seemed like I was doing that, wasn't my intention at all.

I also backed Legend of Iya (which I mentioned earlier as well) but it's 7 years later I just can't seem to care enough to be upset about it anymore. If it comes out, great, but I wrote that money off several years ago. There are never any guarantees with KS and I sure have learned that with MN9, project phoenix and such.

Which is not to say Bado or anyone else gets a free pass for that, like I wouldn't trust him with another KS. But I'm not going to put him on some list of people I'll never support or anything of the sort. Just doesn't feel like it's worth my time to lend him another thought.

I'm a huge Metro fan, I really am. But after pulling Metro Exodus from Steam two weeks before release, and selling the Shenmue 3 backers to Epic, I can't possibly give my money to Deep Silver anymore. These actions go straight against my vision on treating your customers with respect. But I guess Deep Silver doesn't give a shit about that...

I was up for Metro but over the last year ive bought a ton of games so have plenty to play and to be honest my interest in it has faded. I also dont feel like paying full price for a year old game so it will be interesting to see where they price it. If its cheap i might get it but i suspect it will be one that goes on my list to buy in a year or twos time.

I'm in the same boat there. I've got a pile of games I'm trying to do anyway, and it's not like this year is short on new purchases. I bet I'll pick it up in a bundle in a couple years.

Yeah it's the problem with delayed release. People lost interest over time.

Yeah that 70k per day is mind boggling. It is interesting that steam reviews look useless at a glance because they're mostly drive-by and simplistic. Even the good reviews get buried. That approach doesn't exactly generate great literature, but it certainly lets public opinion evolve over time instead of the traditional approach of review on day 1 and abandon. Which is more useful if you're looking to buy or not buy.

I already own Metro Exodus on Steam. I had a weak moment last year when the exclusivity was announced, caved and bought it. Dont get me wrong, its a good game. But despite being very pretty, its not as much of a masterpiece as some people wanna play it. I enjoyed some of my time with it, but never finished it and never had intentions to go back to finish it. Plus, when I played it, I occasionally just had to think of how Deep Silver treated their costumers with the exclusivity and how that deal went down. I despise exclusivity in general, but how Epic did their deals was the bloody worst.

Anyway, if I didnt own it yet, I wouldnt bother, because I also, like Ge0force, dont wanna reward shitty behaviour / exclusivity deals. The only other exclusives I cared about are Control (which I most likely wont get either) and Other Worlds, which I played on GamePass (but also didnt keep me hooked for long, tbh)

I was waiting to get Ori 2 closer to release, but then MS decide to jack the price up here from R$99 to R$129, and my interest is now gone.

I am guilty of doing stupid reviews, but I base 99% of my purchasing off of reviews on Steam. I don't go to MetaCritic, and I damn sure stay away from most video game "journalism" sites. It is beyond rare I buy something with mixed reviews; I'll typically take a mixed review game (that I don't have) from a bundle, but I typically stay in the blue. Lastly, I don't have any negative games in my account.

Ori 2 is at the top of my list, the first was such a memorable experience.
I liked the first one, visually it was stunning. Great...i dont know what you call it...atmosphere...story...but i struggled with the actual gameplay. I think its because im getting old and couldnt really time all the jumping/buttons/shooting stuff. I did finish it but i felt like it was maybe a bit difficult for me.

Love that these games are being made though and hope the sequel does well.

Maybe should finally play the first ori before the second one comes out. Not really a fan of platformers though .
It's a spectacular game. Very emotional and features one of my favorite video game soundtracks.

But yeah, like Joe Spangle said, it's a difficult game (not unreasonably so, à la Dark Souls or even Super Meat Boy... not at all).
