On Cage and his toxic studio Quantic Dream, I didn't like the media campaign to undermine the lawsuit (for work harrassment and sexual harrassment) they were dealing with on Venture Beat (and french magazine Le Point).

Lies, partially true facts... It was almost they asked for "journalists" to make them look better.

Quantic is indeed in bed with a few outlets, notably french ones from what I could garner. Not that it helped them, but it was scummy.

I'd still let people enjoy the games on account of them being allowed to do whatever the hell they want in their lives :p.

David Cage

PLS PLS PLS GIB GAEM ANNOUNCEMENTES PLS PLS💩

All these interesting games in my backlog, and I can't tear myself away from replaying Halo campaigns over and over, Monster Hunter or Tabletop Simulator. :surrenderblob:

David Cage and the like do give video games a bit of a "direct to DVD" aspect... not that there isn't plenty of fantastic writing in video games, but they tend to have absolutely zero budget.

I think it kinda sucks that we don't get more budget in visual novels or deeper RPGs... when all you get is Bioware, or zombie-story-Sony with a giant AAAA marketing budget, it certainly feels more like a confidential genre with pretty poor visibility.
Not unlike comics and their summer blockbusters that smell like doodoo in the eyes of the casual consumer: it's dumb fun and that's about it for them, because it's not like they'll hear about more interesting projects.

Damn I'm in one of those moments where if feels like I can't find anything to play. Tried a few but didn't get them to run well so now I'm just looking at all my games and not "feeling" any of them.

Who is this Cage? Why is there a love/hate for Cage?

CEO and founder of Quantic Dream (The Nomad Soul, Farenheit, Heavy Rain...). Got some funny ideas about "adding polygons in your game increases the emotions" and shit like that. French medias thinks he is a genius, french art ministery praises him (and gave him the Legion d'Honneur), not all players agree on that, and his studio have history of racism, work harrassment and sexual harrassment leading to lawsuits (some still in progress).

Reason: Unintended confusion

I played literally 5 minutes of Detroit's demo and I was welcomed by the usual subtle Cage's storytelling with a big-ass "ANDROID" written in capital letters on the back of the android character as first scene... and the mandatory "I hate your kind, you fucking 'ANDROID' android" scene about two seconds later. Yeah, I don't think this game is for me.

Not everyone can handle the raw amount of EMOTION that a David Cage game is throwing at you.

I assume july would be the month where some terrible natural catastrophe will happen that causes big consequences for the whole world.

The year will end with an alien invation in december.
I wouldn't be surprised if you are right.

My birthday is in July, so maybe that's the natural catastrophe of big consequences that you were thinking of? :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Don't know how many of you are in the US right now, but stay safe.

Images of police brutality during protests (and outside of protests) are spreading around the world, this is absolutely crazy, especially for a country so proud of his "freedom of speech".

Looks like it still doesn't apply if you're not white enough for police in some places.

Jesus, the US seem to be on the brink of a civil war, I guess this was bound to happen sooner or later, especially with this leadership.

Played a bit of LiS BTS, playing as Chloe is great.
Also started chapter 3 of TOCS3, chapter 2 was awesome, so glad I played Zero and Azure previously, I got emotional a bunch of times.

This looks nice:

And, affordable. It will be $6,99, with a launch discount of 25% (making it $5,25).

Is this the sequel? They went full 3D, I see.

I'm not sure what's the purpose of those live portrait on the top right. And what's with the zombie skinning mechanic? Are they edible or what?

By the way how much do "weebs" know about Japan?

Since they seem to think that Japan doesn't talk about politics in videos games.

I mean all MGS is, is politics.

Also Persona 5 talks about politics. The system that they have set up with their justice system more or less is why you have to move.
you even have people that want to kick out the prime minister to be
. It doesn't do the best job at talking about some of that stuff, but it's still there.

I'm not sure if it's true or not but supposedly the reason that the Phoenix Wright games exist is because of the judicial system in Japan and how If you are brought to court you are pretty much guilty and there for treated as such (and even when there are people that are innocent they still go to jail). Could people plant evidence during an investigation?

I'm currently playing through The Witcher 3 and the part that I dislike the most so far is the combat. I don't know if I'm not getting it or if I'm just bad but it kind of feels floaty.

Indeed, it's a (apparently stand-alone) sequel.

The portrait thing (it's dynamic; it's not always your portrait; based on other screenshots, it shows enemies, locations. ...) appears to be to mimic a comic-book panel look.

As for the rest, I'm afraid I don't know. :giggle:
I have been "following" this game very casually, so I'm not very informed about mechanics and stuff.

20 years after seeing the first Halo screenshots in German PC Player (rip) magazine, I finally got around to play the damn thing. I remember being so mad back then that the game "was stolen" away from PC by Microsoft that I never played it even when it released later on. It still holds up surprisingly well and I even like the original graphics a bit better than the Anniversary ones.

I just downloaded Halo 2 with the Xbox app and only got speeds of maybe 10-15 MB/s - I thought my Router was broken or maybe my neighbors stole my bandwidth. But no, it is just the app being shit, on Steam I get my usual 100-120 MB/s.

Anyone played Resolutiion?

The game is now in a bundle with CrossCode, making it cheaper for those who already own that game:

Also, I haven't followed Disintegration closely.

"Sell me" on the game.

Is it actually going to have some decent single-player content, or is it yet another multiplayer-focused game, with the single-player portion an afterthought?

thanks :)

It's difficulty to sell you on a game that's not even out. :P

Nah you got it allright. Witcher combat is shite.

Is not. I loved combat in 3.

It's not perfect but I fail to see how "shite" applies to it. At worst it is designed in a way that does not agrees with you and that's fine. I can definitively see the things that can irk, but saying this sort of thing is a little too meme-y for my taste :).

Also speaking of politics, can we try not to go down the road of the other place? You all haven't said a single thing I disagree with but the undertones of anger and verbal violence don't make me particularly comfortable compared to the usual mood of this thread.

I meant, what's the game supposed to be like? ;)

I see it's some kind of mech FPS (cool), with some RTS bits (?), but most things I find are about the multiplayer modes, which is not a good sign for a (mostly) single-player gamer like me.

Since the team is led by one of the guys that made Halo: Reach, and since I remember some people in here mentioning the game before, I was hoping those who have followed the game closely might have some more details on the SP campaign. :)

Well I found the beta to be "meh":

Just wait till it's out.
