It looks like this games online servers were shut down.

RIP Vita

Between 2015-2017 I was a Vita Fanboy.

I still have a decently sized Vita physical collection.

My Vita has drift but I do plan to buy another one, sometime in the future

This was done in error and the servers went back up the next day

anyone played Timespinner?

its pretty cheap with the "complete your collection" thing
It’s very much an Igavania, so if you’re a fan of SOTN et al, you might like it. I felt Bloodstained did that specific style of game much better, though. found the mechanics and level design kinda dull and repetitive (and while level design has never been any Igavania’s strongest point, it’s particularly boring here) and dropped it midway through. Nice pixel art, though

I've been doing a complete playthrough of the original Unreal - I haven't played through the entirety of the game since its release in 1998 - I would just dabble in the first half or quarter of the game at most (it's quite big).

I love the game, it still looks great to me, it sounds incredible. The combat is a ton of fun...

But boy oh boy this level design is really not great. I mean it would be great if I wasn't getting completely lost several times in each level starting in the 2nd half of the game. I just stooped to looking up a walkthrough and I was supposed to notice a single bar in a barricade underwater is broken half-way through in this one level. I literally spent an hour trying to find that one gap. These levels aren't linear so you could be searching all over a rather large level to find that one little thing that allows you to progress. Sometimes it's cool and there's a log where a character writes how they escaped a jail or something, but in this case I was just supposed to stumble upon it.

And the funny thing is I don't think I had any problem with progressing in any of these levels in the day. I was completely tuned into this kind of design, with less than zero handholding, where simply making your way through an empty level was supposed to be a maze or a puzzle. I remember pretty much blowing through this game in the day.

So I don't know if I'm soft now or if it's objectively bad or what.

But I still love the game when I'm not lost.

Nothing beats coming out onto that cliff side after being terrorized by the Skarjj in the dark. or taking on the Titan for the first time.
Ive gone back a few times, and the sign posting is minimal and yes some levels can be confusing, but like you, I still greatly enjoy the original. Had a ton of fun with the botmatch too, back in the day before my parents internet connection could handle gaming

Catching up on the Indie Live Expo stream and wow at Craftopia. Completely bonker. I don't know if it will give us something good but there is potential in this mad mix of half a dozen different genres.

Did they say that the guy doing Gensokyo Night Festival lost his code ? Or was it unrelated to this game, I can't say I followed the constant rambling of the two guys too closely.

Probably the closest metroidvania to SotN (beside Bloodstained).
Nice pixel art, good combat with interesting weapon mixing, tons of enemy variety and bosses, nice feeling of progression and fast pacing; plus the story and characters are everything that a conservative would hate.

Level design is super lazy though, and its main gimmick (minor spoiler: time travel) is really used once in the entire game, otherwise it's just here to make more linear levels.

It's very good despite its pretty glaring fault.

Satisfactory finally tommorrow.
You've nearly made it. Wish you lot's of fun.
I'm still torn on this one. Just like Kerbel Space Programm, this game pushes many of my buttons.

But the devs seem to be troublemakers, so to speak.
But than again, I also believe that buying on Steam/GOG after the exclusivity periods have ended is kind of important to send the message that people are deliberately avoiding EGS and that consumer choice is a thing.

As said, I'm torn.

I've always only had one rule: if it's a timed EGS exclusive, I will wait for Steam release.

Once it hits Steam, the game will be advertised everywhere so much, with such a high review Steam score, that you won't be torn for long.
I expect "Overwhelmengly positive" with thousands of reviews after a very short time.

The game is/seems great which is a big reason why it's one of the games that actually has sold alot on EGS.

I just did some background research for an article I'm writing. I'm not even sure if I'll use it yet, but it was a bit of work and so there you go:

This is manually counted and "curated" for actual genre accuracy and minimum notability (after pre-filtering using tags).
If you just search for "JRPG" on Steam right now you get >800 results.

Regarding EGS exclusive, the two games that I am really looking forward to are the Sinking City and the Outer Worlds, especially the former. Reviews and impressions are pretty polarized and some said it is mediocre, but a detective game without much handholding sounds really attractive to me. I have a feeling that I am going to love it despite the flaws.

Absolutely CRAZY! this is how much the scene has changed in the last decade. love it. :cat-heart-blob:

Unfortunately it is not guaranteed that we will see Sinking City released on Steam and GOG this month, we have the suspicion that they are trying to get it self-published and one movement has been made in the package since the removal so it's not entirely dead, however, keep in mind that the game might take a bit longer, Sherlock games took 4 months from removal to self-publishing again and this might be the same. we will see.

Instead asking for Persona you should ask Atlus about Shin Megami Tensei

It honestly isn’t worth it to wait for Outer Worlds sadly. One of the bigger disappointments of the last years. If you happen to have Gamepass and the Microstoft Store/the Xbox App work good enough for you, your better off going that route

I will reserve my judgement as they are also making DLC. Maybe they can still improve the game? :)

I'll even take Demikids at this point
I have not heard of them until today. They don't look so bad. I will play them if they do the ports.

BTW, I am playing Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE (basically FE x Persona instead of SMT) right now. Fun game with solid combat mechanics. Very, very Japanese (as in themes, dialogues and general vibe). I lived and worked in Tokyo for a while and the team has replicated the environment and atmosphere pretty well. I would recommend it to all people who have a level of acceptance towards Japanese pop culture.

I asked in the Discord.

Items don't transfer from world x to y (your character is not a persistent character).

To join your fellow Steam friends you do it via the main menu.

Im not 100% sure of everything, but we'll now when the game is out tommorrow.

Edit: And when you start the game up the first time you can choose between logging into your EGS account or not. Logging into your EGS account will make sure you can crossplay/invite your EGS friends, if you don't, you can only play with Steam friends. So I personally won't use my EGS account as I don't have any friends on it.

2014 was when the PS4 and Xbox One line debuted wasn't it? Curious correlation....
Have't populated the highlight .txt file with any indie games or releases yet :minos_sleepy:

Have some Dirt Showdown screens instead

Probably patching something out
It seems like it forgot that i moved the game files to another HDD and so it wants to download the whole game again onto my main SSD.

EDIT - yep. I moved the files back over to the main SSD, deleted the update folder and verified it and then it downloaded a 79mb update! It was downloading the whole game before. Thats rubbish. Ive wasted 10GB download on it whilst it was on in the background.

Just played another session of Beat Saber when something really dawned upon me. Most people probably already realized but Beat Saber is basically a dancing game for nerds.

I wish there were more dancing games on PC in general but it looks like those games are just more popular on consoles. The last Just Dance release from Ubisoft on the PC was the 2017 version.

I feel like there would be so much potential for a Just Dance 2021 VR version. For example you could make a mode where you are a newcomer to an existing dance crew and learn a song by just imitating them from the back lines. Seeing the models in 3D next to you with proper proportions would really elevate the experience.

Guess I'll have to wait for PSVR2 to take off before we'll get anything like it. I'm sure there's some indie VR dancing games on Steam but I think a good dancing game needs a proper budget for music licensing and overall production quality.

That may work for people with full motion rigs?

WhyNotBoth
Atlus works in Absolutes. Given how they are it's is one or the other. Just like Persona 5 (mainline) Is only on PlayStation and SMT V is only on Nintendo.

By the way I wonder if SMT will keep on being a N/S exclusive. With the 3DS games it sort of games sense as to why they are exclusive but if they don't really make uses of the unique features of the N/S then you could also just have it on other systems.

I have not heard of them until today. They don't look so bad. I will play them if they do the ports.

Is Tokyo Mirage more of a P4/P5 X FE:A game?

I don't think it does a lot with FE other than the weapon triangle and also having characters from FE:A basically being your persona?
---
I'm guessing that the Steam releases of certain MS and EA games have been doing well?

I was thinking of buying some EA games but for now I think I will wait until the subscription service rolls out and just try the games. It's not like this will be their all time low price

I've been going through my backlog but doing it wrong. I'm replaying a bunch of old games instead of new ones. It has stopped me buying anywhere near as much as i used to. Which is great for my bank account not so much for the developers tho.

Also, emulators and Origin have kept me away from Steam and groupees, fanatical etc so unless i start playing a Steam game soon i might miss most of the sales like i did with the Spring Clean thingy. It's really helped with my impulse purchasing habits.

Play your games, people!

I have hundreds of games in my backlog so I say to myself ''don't buy more games''

Yet probably the first day of the Steam sales I'll be sharing all the games I bought.

:dizzy-face::dizzy-face:
Summer seal could potentially be brutal.
I have got it into my head a while ago to finally buy some more Atelier, or I'll never ever "catch up".
And with KT's pricing, I've come to the conclusion that buying one of the remastered trilogies at once will ultimately be the cheapest - thanks to the bundle discount, but that's still going to be ~50 bucks just like that :grimacing-face:
We'll see whether I get cold feet or not 😅
