Yeah, people REALLY hate the ending, and honestly, I do too.
Why exactly? I mean, I have seen the ending despite currently playing the game and I still don't get the hate for it.

The world in TLOU is trash, humans are trash, everything is trash. The ending is an accurate representation of the state of the world in TLOU to me.

No actual details but I'm gonna spoil tag this anyways

The way I feel is that the best way I can describe why it sucks is that the intro and the ending were written before they wrote everything in-between.

Did you watch the actual ending or the leaked "ending"?

I won Dead Space 3. Didn't actually expect this whole thing to be real. Now I wish had won Dragon Age Inquisition. Not because I want to play it but because it is region locked for me and I have no other way of getting it on Steam.

Did you watch the actual ending or the leaked "ending" that's actually only 75% through the game? Because the actual ending is even worse.
I watched a video that ends with a shot of a guitar and assumingly Ellie walking outside the window leaving a house.

The scene before that is what everyone hates.

Abby kills Joel, Jessie, and paralyzes Tommy. Ellie goes on a rampage and kills everyone close to Abby (except Lev). Ellie gets in a fight and is about to drown Abby but gets a PTSD Episode and has an epiphany and spares Abby which makes absolutely no sense because her PTSD is what motivated Ellie to go after Abby in the first place.

Ellie kills an absolute fuck ton of people with no remorse and then decides "wow gee killing is bad" and goes home? Great writing.

Then you also have Joel and Tommy who decide to trust a group of complete strangers when they would have never done that in TLOU1

Personally I don't have an issue with Abby killing Joel or having to play as Abby for half the game. My issue stems from the overall message of the game coming off as extremely heavy-handed and pretentious. Which resulted in a super lame ending that made me groan.

Well I tried playing one demo that looked cool in concept until I got into the actual game when the sound effects for it turned out to be the dev making wind sounds of themself blowing into a microphone to sound like wind
I gave up after that point because the super serious tone of the game followed by someone heavy breathing into a microphone with like Woooooo Woooing noises was too stupid for me to try anymore

I hear you.

Im gonna play though the game to form my own view on the ending and the whole game. I won't have a problem calling the ending bad or mediocre if that is what I feel, nor if I feel the ending is good or great despite maybe not being a popular thing to say (I see people attacking people who liked the game and story on Twitter).

Im about 4-5 hours in and so far Im having a blast with the game, so I hope it keeps going that way. :)

Damn, guess I didn't win anything. Wouldn't have said no to Mirror's Edge Catalyst or Dragon Age: Inquisition. :(

I mean, my province is explicitly excluded from pretty much any giveaway of this kind but it sounds like I could've easily given them a bullshit address and been fine. :p

lol, All of that sounds a lot different than the reviews on Open Critic suggest.

Is the ending "decent" at least? I don't want to spoil myself (I have not even played the first game yet).

That's all i want to know because of "leaks"

Polarizing is probably the best way to describe it. Seems like its a love it or hate it with no inbetween sort of thing

damn, I missed the EA giveaway. Oh well, I'll get to play Sea of Solitude soon enough

anyway, a few more demo impressions

Relicta: first-person puzzler set on a futuristic moon base with a fairly polished presentation and some nice visuals. A bit slow (there's a tad too much story and some overly simple early puzzles), and it doesn't exactly reinvent the genre (you're still manipulating blocks to flip switches, here using antigrav devices and magnetic polarity), but it seems promising enough.
Anew: The Distant Light: sci-fi side-scroller with lots of shooting, a jet pack, and an interesting (if somewhat rough) combination of 2D and 3D art assets. the actual game is a Metroidvania, but the demo is just a series of linear sections that show off various features. seems promising though
TOHU and Papetura: these are both Amanita Designs (Machinarium et al)-style point-and-click games with little to no text and very nice art. not a ton to say beyond that

The fact that so many people on here won anything is amazing it was 100k+ Entrants for 200~ chances per game (as in only 200+ games total per winnable game)

More over you ruined my chances to get Inquisitor GOTY if there had only been 99.999 instead of 100k

My GPU jumps to 80 degree Celsius when playing Hardspace Shipbreaker hot damn (pun intended). It seems to be a bad idea playing this game in summer as I don't switch on the air-con often.

That game is a GPU killer. My GTX 1070 is screaming at 100% usage. I wonder if they use the GPU to calculate the physics. My CPU is bored to death at 50-70%.

My 3-year-old 1080 Ti was sitting around 80-85% usage. Yeah, I guess the physics are the reason. I have once caused a huge explosion and the framerate just dropped to around 10. Maybe I will drop the texture level next time just to be safe. Hopefully they will release more graphics option soon.
