also I have years of prep and experience with no AC life.
Most people don't have AC units in central Europe.
It wasn't necessary. I was surprised during my first trip to the U.S., because everybody I visited, and every store had one. And they were making full use of them, blasting temperature down below 20°C.
For temperatures, we are hitting 40°C (104°F) regularly now during summer. Sleeping at night became troublesome, often for weeks. But you see more AC units outside of houses now (still the exception). The situation is worse for people in apartments/flats: Even if you own the apartment, the whole community of owners must agree to you getting an AC unit with an external thermal converter (the only option if it wasn't planned from the beginning), because it changes the look of the building.
So even if everybody in the apartment building wants one, one owner's veto is enough to stop the whole project.

yay, will wait for reddit benchmarks! :p
Hmm, huge jump in version number. I freshly installed windows last week and the drivers were version 446.14 back then.
Anything interesting with the DX12 Ultimate update?

Yes. We in the US are spoiled with AC and even in the northeast AC is everywhere. Its expensive and its an energy guzzler. Yes, some people need it for their region and health. I feel for the people getting screwed by building owners when they need AC. We're used to seeing AC "window warts" everywhere. Do you have a window fan with air exchange?

The best seasons are all the ones which are not summer.
I shouldn't be surprised at all of the summer hate. Its a PC gaming focused forum and overclocking isn't happening in the summer months.

Solution? Play when it gets dark and live it up/use your cellphone when its light out.

I really wish I could enjoy game pass, but I hate the notion of renting games and the thought that 3rd party games will leave the service is stressing me out.
I like it. I don't really have it in me to play much lately, so it keeps me from buying games I won't play at the moment. I get to save money and build my library via bundles. It's also nice to get Epic exclusives (new and old).

This one also has support for hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling, and Vulkan 1.2.

The large version number jump is justified IMHO.

So I was thinking today, since I'm a big fan of the original trilogy if it would be worth to buy the Mass Effect games on Steam during the sale (it would be like my first double dip ever) or just wait for the remaster and buy that instead?

I don't know what to do :dizzy-face:

Do you plan to play them right away? If not, I'd wait to see if they'll actually announce this remaster or not.

I've never seen one of those over here. But you'd also need everybody in an apartment building to agree with you installing one as it is a change to the aesthetic of the building. As said, german law is strange.
On a personal note: We moved a couple of years ago, when my wife decided that our rented apartment was getting too small with two kids. I only had two demands: I wanted easy access to nature (short walk/drive) and the ability to eventually install AC. Something we finally managed to get last year. Still hate how summer turned from nice to scorching hot and dry though. People are regularly filling up buckets to privately water public trees because they would otherwise die during the hot phases. The city is even filling up mobile swimming pools and driving around to get everybody the chance to cool down. It's a bit crazy.

Can anyone tell if the start of the Steam summer sales would be the best time to BUY or SELL Steam cards?
:wd_comfy:

hmm.
Do I buy a bunch of stellaris DLC for 50 to 60% off on Fanatical? They normally don't go down more than 50% on Steam

There is or was a 10% voucher discount (STEAMGIFTS10) on Fanatical for orders above 1$/€/£. Not all purchases were eligible so you might want to try and see if it works on those DLCs.

Also discover this little game today. It might be something good or not, yet it looks promising. Still a long road before 2022

Trap or not a trap?? Suddenly 95% 1 day before the Sale.

Reason: added Sea of Stars + Sonic

My favourite season is autumn. Not as hot, long mild evenings, best for mountain hiking.
I love autumn storms, they are my favorite, just after spring storms.
Summer rains are cool, especially when you are camping.

Am I weird? I just love to sit in the wilderness (or the backyard of the village where I grew up in) and experience the raw power of the elements. Autumn storms were especially cool, because we could get out our gliders and race through the vast meadow behind our house.
My father came into possession of an old constructor's wagon when I must have been 9 or 10. It was maybe 8 meters long and 3 meters wide with two compartments, we kids restored it and made one side of it completely out of glass panes (old greenhouse wood-enclosed panels that were nearly 90% of the height of the interior of the wagon, so we just had to enclose the rest of the 10% with wood) A LOT of construction foam was used into getting the whole wagon weatherproof, and it was the only real expense we had on that project.

It was a beauty (well, inner beauty) when it was finished. And our clubhouse year-long and camping ground in the summer. (We had surrounded the wagon with fences, the wagon was still in visual range of my parents house, but we could pretend we were in the wilderness because we were located in a meadow near a lake.)
We either slept in the wagon or in additional tents if we were too many kids.

And the storms? They were awesome when you sat in the wagon with one wall completely out of glass windows and outside raged a storm.

Can anyone tell if the start of the Steam summer sales would be the best time to BUY or SELL Steam cards?
:wd_comfy:
If you mean the Steam cards specific to the event:

Usually, it is better to sell early, because:
  1. most people are not into summer badges and will offload their daily free cards on the market,
  2. more supply will lead to cheaper prices.

If you mean Steam cards in general:

It is the best time to craft badges, because you will get a summer card instead of a coupon. This should lead to a higher demand of cards.

However, people who craft badges specific to the event might get items which can be turned into gems. This will allow bot networks to farm gems for free, which will crash the gem market, and thus which will lead to a decrease of card prices in general, albeit with a delay.

So, my guess would be that:
  • you should be able to sell your cards more easily (at least for popular games) at the start of the summer sale,
  • you might want to purchase some cards to craft a few badges near the end of the summer sale.
Personally, I intend to craft summer badges to get experience and reach Steam level 100.

I will also try to purchase massive amounts of gems with Steam wallet once the market has crashed. The price was 0.40€/sack recently. In anticipation of the summer sale, the price has decreased to 0.37€/sack. Hopefully, we will see sacks sold for 0.30€ each, or cheaper (0.25€ would be awesome).

Anyway, do not invest real money into it. I only use a bit of Steam Wallet which I already had on my account and try to make something out of it. I personally find this whole system funny, but it is not an efficient use of your time if your goal is to get some money. It is merely a meta-game with wallet money.

Feel free to correct me if you disagree, madjoki.

Maybe wait for a stellaris bundle

Humble has had bundles for cities skylines, Crusader King and Europa before
Yeah, I was on the lookout for it but it never seemed to come into fruition. And it is also the only Paradox Game were I don't already have like 50% of the xpacs :/

will check it out when I decide to buy on Fanatical :)

Nature is BIG. Love living by nature myself. Well, what passes for nature. In NYC we have special "cooling centers" for at risk people, same in nearby Newark NJ. People at risk, I get it. But hey, winter can kill you too.
My favourite season is autumn. Not as hot, long mild evenings, best for mountain hiking.
Autumn in my part of the world lasts around 4 weeks, from the second week of oct until the second week of nov.

I hate winter so much that autumn is rapidly becoming one of my disliked seasons. Pretty trees last about two week to three weeks at 'peak', the number of actual nice days is usually around half of that and the odds of you getting a nice day when you are off/free, not excellent.

Overratted AF.

Ok seasonal rant over.

Well, that's rough. What kind of airflow do you have set up?

My twin bro taught me the art of the window fan, been helping a ton.

I dont really have any windows. Ive got a balcony door that i can open and so AC or window mounted fans just aren't an option. This building is just a complete oven at this time of year. Its a converted office building. It will be sticky hot for the next 3 months.

My cooling strategy is...

Big fan on high
3 little fans pointing at me
Freezer blocks to cuddle
Magic cooling towel thing that i wrap around my head
Lots of cold beer

Myself, I have this beauty:

The front mesh can blow the air in a wide cone. It is very powerful, even on the lowest setting. Will help me cool down even with the worst summer. Sadly, with a 1-room apartment I can only blow the air around in the room, instead of refreshing it.

That's with the new Nvidia Drivers?
Do I need to activate something via command line or Nvidia Control Panel or is it a "just run the game" thing?
You need to activate GPU hardware scheduling in the windows graphics settings (which needs the new driver and 2004).
Note that I think that particular result is towards the top of the end of the scale of what to expect.
