Oh boy, it looks like I've come to this stage in my life. Remember to do occasional exercises/stretches with your hand when sitting behind a PC for long periods of time. Preferably before your body decides to send pain signals whenever you lay your hand on a mouse :blobevening:

Really hope it’s more like the first
if it’s more like the second then hard pass
More like the first, and with actual level design instead of corridors. Which actually also applies to the second, how the randomly generated levels bullshit got green-lit, I'll never understand.
The loot vomit more so, Borderlands had a big influence. But the rogue-lite aspect...?

Now I've played two stages, the second one was marginally better than the first one.
The biggest problem with Doom 2016 is the lack of weapon feedback: the shotgun sucks, the plasma gun is kind of decent, the chainsaw so far has been the best implemented weapon. The gameplay devolves in kiting and taking enemies one by one. Other arena FPSs like Painkiller, Hard Reset, Shadow Warrior and Serious Sam have better stage design, enemy encounters and weapon design. Ammo conservation, which is a big part of older arena FPSs is meaningless here. Were it not for the upgrade points it would be pointless to search for secrets.

I'll probably complete it anyway, but I have this feeling that the emperor has no clothes.
While I really liked Doom 2016 I always thought it was hugely overrated. It became especially apparent once they released Eternal which irons out most of it's flaws and while adding so much more to the experience. Movement, pacing, combat loop is so much more exciting in Eternal it's impossible for me to go back to 2016 after this.

Speaking of Eternal. Wasn't there supposed to be a campaign add on planned for release? Also where the RTX update at?

Serious Sam have better stage design

Didn't play all of them, but especially the early Serious Sam games overstayed their welcome too quickly for me. Most of the time it was strafing, while holding the fire button. I'm overexaggerating, but there wasn't much to do there.
Remember having similar feelings about Painkiller, though I haven't played that in a long, long time.

I have $40 in my Steam wallet and was looking at stuff in the sale but I might hold onto it now. I swear if Sony waits until the sale ends and announces some far off date like Late August imma be rotted though.
Buy the games you want from this sale. If Horizon releases sooner than later, you can simply refund them and buy Horizon.

Problem solved.

As I said in the Coop thread, I kinda want escapism right now. MMO, GAAS, the type of shit where you put countless hours in a different world. I also noticed that I tend to gravitate toward these in the summer. But man there aren't that many recent ones :anguished-face:

So while I know F76 is coming to Game Pass in a few days, I have the strangest urge to play it. Or I don't know, I just saw Conan Exile, a game I always turned my nose on due to the stupidity with dongs, slaving, invoking deities and other puerile or edgy shit.

pls be more like 1 and not like 2.

Yep, SW2 is just an utterly baffling game.

From the inane, nonsense of a story (obviously the first is no high watermark by any stretch, but at least it was coherent; it's hard to tell what's going on in the second), and the completely shit level and combat design where you can just run away from almost any encounter you're not forced to face.
A HUGE disappointment.

Preorder is also live. $50USD.

I wonder if the regional pricing here is an error? Only $57CAD seems too good to be true for something from Sony. I'd expect $65 normally.

EDIT: Its $55 on EGS so maybe its the actual pricing?

There has never been a game announced (and put up for preorder) on both EGS and Steam only to go EGS exclusive later on. Every game announced for EGS exclusivity wasn't announced for EGS prior.
Metro Exodus was never announced for EGS; but it still got a last minute exclusivity deal a month before release or so

But I am only joking around now. I hope there is no exclusivity deal at all...

That's what I said. Every game that was announced for EGS exclusivity was not announced for release on EGS in any form prior to the exclusivity deal.
