Pretty sure Zen Studios are going to do the same with Pinball FX3 in the near future, they are hinting at platform changes but not answering their increasingly angry fan base.

I wonder how Timmy feels about the closed nature of the PSN store and the fixed 30% share over there, now that he and Sony are business partners.
He is giving Android, iOS and Steam a hard time for that and EGS exists to change the world and make it a better place.

He probably hates Sony's 30%, but also realises he has no leverage there.

Epic overplayed their hand against Google, for whom gaming is but a tertiary interest, on an open platform. There's no way they're going to force any of the big console players to change their cut on more closed ecosystems.

I wonder how Death Stranding is doing on Epic Store. It's been on top 1 on Steam 95% of the time for 9-10 days now and all I see on Twitter and Reddit in regards to Death Stranding on PC is in regards to the Steam version.

I don't think Tim or whomever else at Epic had a hand in crafting EGS' original PR care about that 30% at all. They just want to be on the receiving end of it, not paying it out.

I don't think he cares about it personally. he saw it as an "easy" gotcha against Steam and built the whole narrative around lowering the cut on other open platforms to further pressure Steam.

EGS top seller just updates, DS on 5th. Horizon isn't on top 20 at all.

DS is actually behind Snowrunner which is a 3 month old game and not on sale (don't think it's ever been on sale, but might be wrong).
This is the picture, first update since June. (4 weeks)

In that time this has been the weekly top seller list of Steam (yes, 4 weeks)

This week:

July 12 week:

July 5 week:

June 28 week (summer sale end)

Anyway, my thoughts about this data if you want to know.

We don't have numbers (unlike Steam in which we can get data through external services) so it's impossible to determinate how much volume is each game in terms of sold copies or relevance for players. As it's impossible to determinate their impact and split, I'm unable to compare with trending and projections with Steam numbers, so while I have an already potential projection for DS on Steam, I'm unable to see a projection with EGS version.

In any case, at least it got updated although it's kind of pointless for analytics. :blobweary:

Do we know if the best sellers list from EGS is by revenue or copies sold? Either way, if Ooblets is top seller, everything else is selling really poorly.

Unknown except for the fact that the process is, at this very moment, manual, so we don't exactly know what's the criteria, maybe revenue with their internal data, but that's not public knowledge.

Sorry, I wish I knew :(

Yeah Ooblets being top seems to imply pretty poor numbers to me. Its a niche game in early access. I dont know how many regular people buy early access games but i bet its lower than a normal release. I dont really buy early access games and im a 'gamer'.

Even still, I highly doubt Ooblets is having the mainstream appeal Untitled Goose Game had - which is the only way it could be outselling Borderlands and GTA. I haven’t heard anything about it outside of actually gaming-dedicated communities, UGG had normal people who don’t even own a gaming platform talking about it.

The fact that an old title like Snowrunner, which hasn't been on a sale since end of June is outselling Death Stranding or that Horizon isn't showing up is pretty much telling about the state of EGS. Heck, Ark is in the top sellers, in front of AC Valhalla. Either the game is seeing a big surge of sales... or it's just a top 20 of bomba of epic proportions.

EGS top charts updated yesterday?
Kojima Pro thanked PC players for buying the game on Steam today.

One might think Kojima Pro isn't impressed with EGS sale numbers.
Or the statement was prepared in advance and they had no clue where their game was sitting on the EGS themselves (relative to other products).

I doubt Kojima cares that the game is being sold on EGS, he probably don't even knows what an EGS is, the only reason we have Kojima Games on PC now days is because:

Only use galaxy 2.0 to check what games are available on gamepass, as it is faster than the xbox app. Otherwise, not much functionality other than seeing your collection on a single launcher I s'pose.

It's in early access right now, only accessible by buying the game or a key. Game should be free when it leaves ea.

So far, GOG has been the only store working on this matter, with GOG Connect.
the problem here is that the vast majority of devs (ESPECIALLY big ones ... and pretty much all publishers) don't want to do it ...

As someone who has been following more of the GOG stuff and less of the Epic stuff the official integrations for GOG Galaxy are: Microsoft and now Epic

What that basically boils down to is that your account doesn't constantly have login problems/logout

I've logged in once into my Microsoft account and never had to do anything else every other integration has just sort of stopped working after that because they're not official. They're basically just a temporary login token that lasts for X amount of time and then requires you to re-verify after awhile. That's my basic understanding of it at least.

Also boo epic

Adding a fancy shortcut is now "universal ownership".

I don't mean to demean what GOG is doing, but the GOG Galaxy 2.0 implementation of one launcher to rule them all needs some serious work.

And frankly, I think if you're taking the universal launcher path, having an app that's entirely separate from any of the launchers is probably the way to do it. Playnite and Launchbox have a better realisation of the "multi store future" when compared to anything GOG or Epic have done.
