so friend tries to became a yutuber to get epic shit
love his first reaction to EGS

this queue system is dumb
i cant move items in queue, unlike in steam
Oh
and game uninstalls are in the same queue as downloads
so you'd need to wait for downloads to finish
before you can uninstall game
you can press the X which like uh "cancels" the download
but you can resume a canceled download
that way you can change queue position if you cancel enough games till you get to the one you wanted to download
and if u wanna add old games back to queue, press resume on them
years in the making :face-with-tears-of-joy:

I'm not even an Epic Hater and I been with them on this Apple fight.

:/

So, if I'm not over simplifying, Apple is saying that Epic asked for more $$ and Free Fornite campaign is nothing more than attempt to shame them publicly and bring them to the table.

I can see it. Oh I can see it happening seven ways from sunday going down just like that.

they have an ingame llama that looks like someone dropped a pile of 2x4s down a flight of stairs when done in silhouette and that's what they use for their satirical logo?... yeesh

ah okay, thought that was some last minute scoop by epic.

wait a sec...

augmented steam what you doing? :face-with-medical-mask:

How could Epic believe Apple would make an exception for them ?
because tim cook himself said that special arrangements can be made for developers meeting certain conditions :p
Johnson also asked about a recent agreement that would allow Apple users to rent movies on Amazon Prime without using Apple’s in-app payment mechanism, which takes a 30% cut of sales, and whether other app makers could enter into the same arrangement.

“It’s available to developers meeting the conditions, yes,” Cook said.

Feeling real smug right now about all the people who I told Epic’s real goal is a settlement, in or out of court.

Strangely enough, if you really are on the side of “all megacorps are bad,” you’d want the previous arrangement to come back, because there’s no way in hell Epic would care about getting a lower revenue share for anyone but themselves.

This is old news for all of you but since I never visit this thread. so 7-10 million seems to be the number of people that claim the free games from EGS? Which seem to the the Troy and Ashes numbers of people claiming those games,

For a store that claims to have 61m MAU, 7 to 10m people grabbing free games is a pretty low #, isn't?

If those numbers are close to accurate, it'd still be under 20% of all accounts (11-16%) getting the freebies at max - that means either a lot of users never visit the store or some free games just don't grab the audience. I don;'t think we've had breakdowns on active accounts for store vs active accounts for players and what the venn diagram for those two is like. Not officially anyway.

Remember, you log in to fiddle with the Unreal Engine, you're account is active, but you may never use the store proper.

7.5 million claimed Total war in 24 hours, in the first hour they had 1 million people claim the game (so....out of those 7.5 million anyone want to take a guess as to how many will actually play the game? )

With ashes it did over 10 million in 1 weeks time.

Pretty sure Epic publically twittered or something about wanting to be on the Play Store without the fee (so, the devices and OS being open and allowing them to make their own store/install outside any store with just providing the APK in whatever means, is clearly not enough for them even if they claim to champion this), ie getting a special deal, so of course they asked the same of Apple for iOS, and of course neither of them are willing to cut them a deal as that will only make EA, Nexon, or whatever other company thinks they have any meaningful push for it, also ask for that deal and so on and so forth and soon enough they'd have to set up a department to make individual contracts for every company, not this catch all solution (which I'm not saying is ideal but, you have options, if you think what they offer is worth paying for, you do, if you don't think so, you don't and take your business elsewhere, I dunno why they're supposed to conform just because Epic thinks they should or something, take your business elsewhere and be vocal of the why and maybe they'll change to attract folks back, or maybe consumers don't care and will keep making a closed platform successful as it is, what else is there to do, somehow be the bigger bully and force your needs?).

I'm happy that developers don't get screwed today. But how long can a judge tell Apple who they must have a business relationship with?

That's complicated, especially as most systems were designed for normal retail and not online app stores.
In general, freedom of contract is given to everybody in the EU. But this freedom is restricted with increasing market dominance.
[UWSL]If market leaders were free to decide with whom to enter into contracts and with whom not, they could control the structure of trade and thus competition.[/UWSL]
[UWSL]Distribution systems and other factors play big roles here. It's complicated and exceeds my knowledge by a lot. [/UWSL]
[UWSL]But there are limitations to freedom of contract that are set in law. This goes for both retail shops and manufacturers by the way.[/UWSL]
[UWSL]One of the reasons why Apple Product may not be sold exclusively in Apple Stores here in Europe. [/UWSL]

Honestly I think Epic is getting away too easily here. They willingly used Unreal Engine devs as pawns for their stupid war against Apple and I dont think Apple should be forced to work with them. But its hard to argue that devs should be hurt in the process... but I would encourage them to ditch Unreal for an engine not made by a megalomanic with a messiah complex.

Good decision
Best decision possible. Epic continues to get fucked, Apple doesn't get to use innocent bystanders as cannon fodder.

I really hope Epic's claims that devs are fleeing UE are real.

Seems like a decent 7/10. Will download when :sweeney_ducktales: offers it for free.

Whilst I don't doubt a lot of that was hyperbole by Epic I do think there is a kernal of truth in it. Apple has pretty much indicated they no longer wish to work or do business with Epic. You can bet your life that Apple are now seeking any and all ways in which to end doing any business with Epic. For now the unreal engine is protected by the courts, but that won't last forever. If Apple can convince a court that the Unreal engine devs and fortnite devs are one and the same thing then a ban wil be back on the table for unreal engine. Any developer with sense will be thinking "hm perhaps starting this project on Unreal engine might not be the best idea because by the time the project is finsihed it may not be acceptable on Apples store".

Pretty much Epic has soured the Unreal Engine and I can see a lot of developers switching to alternatives now.

reading the problems mentioned in reviews sounds like the standard "unmarked early access" EGS deal
