Watched some of the movie Passengers (lol I don't like the two main casts) and wondering what birthday drink did Author (the android) make? It looked like Champagne and olives? What did it add to it?

I don't like Umbrella Academy Season 2 as much as Season 1. To put it easily: It's to slow.

So Disney+ didn't work in my country even with VPN. The first season was okay, was able to watch when I was visiting my family in the states, so don't want to put much effort. How can I watch it?

It all becomes clear near the end. I think they rushed the ending but i'd rather that than drag it out.
I enjoyed Stargirl, it wasn't perfect but it was much better than i thought it would be.

Hadn't read any stories featuring him, but I am intrigued

We are almost in October.
It's that time of the year were film fans usually embark on horror marathons, with many going for a "31 days of Horror" marathon: 31 days watching Horror films and TV shows.

How many in here usually do that?
If enough people are planning to watch Horror-themed content, maybe we should start a thread to list of watched content, and maybe some feedback on what we watched. ;)

It might also be an idea to plan an attempt to co-ordinate watching a movie and voice chat over discord for a laugh too.
Though that's probably doomed to chaos given how random we all are :D
Sadly, since I have no mike, I'm out of that one. :confounded-face:

But, I have big plans for the month. :blobcheer:
It's a perfect storm: the weather is relatively crappy, a lot of places remain closed or with limited attendance, plus last year I got married, so my month of October 2019 was spent doing a different sort of preparations. This year, I plan to make up for it.
With a collection of around 3000 titles (all still completely unorganized, and pretty much still in boxes since last year, so it's a chaotic mess :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:), plus a lot of crap I ordered in recent months that I'm yet to watch (and some I ordered just for the occasion, the latest order placed earlier today), I'm preparing to have a good time.
I'm planning to watch everything from 70's Italian Gialli, Classic Universal Horror films, Scooby-Doo animated films (I just ordered the latest one, Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo!), a few recent Horror films/remakes (which I really dislike, but since my wife constantly asks me "don't you have anything more recent to watch?", when I watch my old films, I thought I would throw her a bone ), Mexican slasher flicks, ozploitation, and a whole lot of Euro Cult titles.
Plus, I have this big boy pre-ordered:

Going back to Halloween, and watching horror films, someone needs to take my credit card away from me. :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:
I have been going a bit overboard, and not counting that Friday the 13th boxset I have almost 30 Blu-Ray releases on their way to me (most arriving this week).

Tonight, it was a big haul from Amazon.de (I can't browse German stores; they have a lot of titles unavailable anywhere else, and I can't avoid buying a whole lot of them).

I'm not big on watching things these last few years, sadly. I was pretty big on movies during the DVD era so that makes me sad.
I suppose the combo of everything being Disney and playing video games for too many hours a day are the culprit.

On a more OT note, what are good Horror movies without torture or gore ? I was thinking yesterday about how I love a good suggestive horror film. Things like The Exorcist, the original Ring, It Follows (I loveddd this one, very divisive even in my household). There is also The Witch but I must admit it felt flat for me.

Can't help you on that. :)
There's a big reason why most of the stuff I'll watch is from 1930's to 1990's: I can't stand those torture porn flicks as well, full of dull colours (these people know they can add a bit of colour to it, instead of everything grey or dark blue, right?), devoid of any "fun". They are just plain mean-spirited. And I really have no desire nor patience to watch a film where a character is tied and being tortured and mutilated for a significant portion of the film. I see the name "Eli Roth" anywhere in the credits, and I run like hell. :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Like you, I also did dig It Follows (watched it on Halloween when it came out!).

The last recent horror film I watched was Color Out of Space.
You may enjoy it, if you dig Lovecraft's mythology.

One of the last films I watched at the cinema was Ready or Not, an enjoyable horror/comedy (nothing brilliant, but it entertains).
It does have some gore, but it's not overly graphic, and it's mostly played for laughs.

If you like a decent slasher film, without much gore (there's a bit, but nothing very graphic), I actually rather enjoyed one of Wes Craven's last films, My Soul To Take. The film got mixed reviews, mostly because people thought it was unoriginal (many felt the film was kind of a cross between A Nightmare on Elm Street, with Scream), but I actually liked it. It translates well a certain melancholic Autumn mood, in a quaint small town, that works well in this season. Plus, a minor detail, but the animated end credits are very well done. And the cast was very likeable for the genre (and, unusually, these weren't 30 year old men/women playing 15 year old kids ).

I'm kind of interested in checking a recent horror-comedy called You Might Be The Killer, since it kind of sounds fun, plus it helps that I find Alyson Hannigan to be utterly adorable. :giggle:

(Re)Watched the Godfather (part 1) this weekend. Only saw it once as a young teen, and I don't think I appreciated the movie fully back then.
Marlon Brando's performance and presence drives the movie into excellent territory. That said, not mentioning Al Pacino, the supporting cast, music, and cinematography would be a sin. Great art stands the test of time and the movies still excels today.
I'm sure more intelligent and observant people have drafted essays about it, so I'll spare you my further ramblings.

Maybe give it another watch if you haven't in a long time. Or not at all...

Watched the old Fright Night film for the first time and didn't like it at all. A few good moments but It didn't age well.

The remake with Colin Farrell was much better imo.

Also watched Pitch Black with Vin Diesel for the first time in more than like 15 years and yea...that movie is still an underrated gem. Strongly recommend it for anyone in the mood for some syfy horror.

Didn't think they could do better than season 1 but it was in almost every way.

Easily the best and funniest show out there today. The cast has been perfect!
