Man, that twitter thread really soured me on the Golden Axe prototype. That's a depressing read.

Wait, Aloy wasn't walking straight in the PC version of HZD? Wut?

I expected this to be Epic exclusive as they received money from Epic.
It seemed possible or even likely, yeah. But maybe their appearance on the Steam game festivals put an end to such plans? Plus, I think the Epic MegaGrants program doesnt mean you have to sign an exclusivity deal or anything, I think thats really just Epic giving out money for not much in exchange?

Anyway, from August on the topic of Raji An Ancient Epic exclusive:

@ Golden Axed: aye, same. However, at least these guys' work gets seen now, and its not like Sega or those inept managers from back then will get any money out of this free release.
But yeah, its disheartening to read a story about shitty managers making workers' lives miserable, especially when you know people that live through that shit right now :disapproval-blob:

@Aloy: I never noticed that, but a bunch of people reported it, yeah. Quite odd. I wonder if the port is in a good enough state now to live up to the game... and I wonder why they didnt manage to release it in a better state.

because sony farmed it out to a cheap studio ... and didn't give them enough time to make it decent

so now Guerrilla have to fix everything themselves

At least Guerilla seems to be doing a good job. I just really wonder what kind of QA they - that cheap studio that did the port - had, if any :disapproval-blob:
I love that game, really, but the amount of times it crashed on me ... I wouldnt tolerate that for any other game.

i'm sure the biggest problem was the time they had to do it ... and the budget

there's no way QA missed any of that stuff ... it's just that they didn't have the time (and money) to fix it

Epic MegaGrants are no strings attached grants given to promising UE4/UE5 projects. No exclusivity involved. They’ve been doing them for years now.

Just to be sure: you get the 2 bonus katanas (including the one for Steam) if you pre-order Ghostrunner anywhere (as long as it's a Steam copy), right?
I first thought it was exclusive to the Steam store, but I see all other stores (that sell Steam keys) listing it as a pre-order bonus.

thanks :)

I'm fairly certain of it, yeah... Humble definitely listed it, so they better deliver :p
But even if you preorder on GOG or other places, there will be preorder katanas, just in different colours.

Yeah. With how God of War, Ghost of Tsushima and Bloodborne being at the final stage of QA (according to Queen), I have a feeling that all three of them are cheap and rushed ports like Horizon Zero Dawn. Hopefully they saw the reception of HZD's PC port and started smoothing out the rough edges.

Maybe they did plan to announce and release some of those games on PC during the 2nd half of this year, but the reception towards HZD made them put more resources and time into those PC versions?

Similar thing happened with November, but Superliminal somehow got the okay to release slightly earlier to spread it out a bit. Superlinimal/Rune 2/Yaga (delayed)/Shenmue 3/Bee Sim (lol) in a 7 day window

Agree. They probably need to release God of War asap though if their intention is really bringing PC players on board with PS5 because Ragnarok is a 2021 game.

Hah. Linus is right. Four separate directional buttons is a crime against d-pads. There's too much distance between them for my taste on the PS4's and the feedback on it isn't my favorite either. Sony had gold on their hands with the Vita's design and clicky feedback. If I could find one of those Vita grips that add R2/L2 buttons, I would use it as a PC controller more often.

Gonna have to try out one of these at a Mediamarkt or something before I commit. I really like the Xbox controllers for everything but their d-pad. Need to replace mine, and it's gonna be either the Series S/X's or one of 8bitdo's offerings this time around.

I was thinking of Gabriel Knight 2 (The Beast Within) and got very confused briefly :face-with-stuck-out-tongue-and-winking-eye:

Short interruption to show of DLSS in Avenger's:

1440p DLSS
1440p TAA

(best to open in two separate windows imo)

Game plays significantly more fluent. Everything is a bit more detailed; the fence is sharper with clearer outlines, the asphalt below Iron Man has more details, shutters in the windows are better, the art structure in the background appears to be differently lit, even some lights are now "on"... etc.
The tech is adding details that are not present at the original resolution?

Nvidia with its f* black magic DLSS. Now they need to add it to good games, lol.

I've always preferred good disc shaped d-pads but so many of that design have been terrible also so I just hope they got it right this time. It looks more classic Sega style than their previous attempts and if it feels that way to use as well that'll be great. I haven't been fully satisfied with any first party d-pad for a long long time. (Not that I've ever tried an elite because I'm not made of money).

Even though I'm no expert with the genre I'll be looking for what fighting game players think of it especially.

Epic megagrants are the good part of epic. They are not only for unreal engine games. It can be for anything in gaming. Hell they even gave one grant to Godot engine.
Yep, Epic isn't a Sweeney-shaped monolith. Their work on the Engine, in the previz and movies industry and the grants they give out are wonderful.
Sharper, more detailed, more fluent.
The bilateral upsampling filter still is terribly obvious with sharp edges against objects that have a large depth separation, contrasted with the overall blurry feeling of the image. DLSS still comes up on top, clearly.

I play Void Bastards today. Pretty lenient roguelike with decent progression system. Some of the dialogues are pretty funny as well. It seems that Humble Bundle has a great publishing team. I have played Slay the Spire and Void Bastards so far, while I absolutely love the former and now like the latter, all of their other titles also have great reviews on steam.

I don't have much faith in this, earlier they made it look ambitious, now it's edgy with splosions & deathmatch? It'd be nice to get a cool space underwater game.

I would still play it due to its theme and setting which is something we rarely get in gaming

I chat with some.peeps who know some peeps
But generally just assume a 1 year delay for a game to release on pc
You trust your sources that much ? How can you be so sure ? Do you check and double-check your sources ?

God of War on PC that was you as well as I recall.

I hope that one turns out true at least.

Has she given any updates at all since first post mentioning those games ? It's kind of hard to believe that Ghost could have been developped on PC all along. It's insane to me.

Regardless as rushed as Horizon was it's still a world above the PS4 version. I'm also confident future Sony PC ports will launch in a better state.

Man, it really has been a while since the last Bloodborne on PC related rumors surfaced. Hoping that some form of related news pops up soon. I've been itching for an announcement for far too long now
