In defense of people who find PC gaming difficult, I think that many of us have been doing it soooo long and have so much experience troubleshooting, that we've forgotten what the 'other half' sees. Think if it as if you didn't know anything about cars; the computer and its software are big black boxes. Black boxes scare people and with not insignificant amounts of money having been poured in the hardware/software of a computer..... the idea of poking into said box is stressful. We all get enough stress in other times of our life.

Hell, I've got experience and skills. Even I have run into shit that was absurd and difficult to fix, things that if I didn't have training and experience, I would've just ditched motherboards and GPUs.

As to Crunch, it sucks. However, the number of people ignoring crunch or downplaying it isn't surprising. In captialism, every product is a 'sausage' and you don't want to know how its made. From Amazon workers, slave labor in china and fishing industries, low paid and indebted long haul truckers keeping our stores stocked, animal cruelty.... it isn't alone. We all also underestimate the effectiveness of the carefully layered and constructed wrapping of marketing surrounding the shiny products sitting on themed shelves in bright stores. Flat out, you are not immune to propaganda. I'd also venture to say that the scope of these problems are not the kind of thing that can be solved by consumer awareness, free trade labels or boycotts. Policy solutions need to both implemented and most importantly enforced, to see change. In America we've done it before and we can do it again.

Nice video on the concept of 1-ups in video games and how Crash 4 handles them among other games

As it was more or less expected, Chrono is going away soon:

There's a series of short, 10 minute games from different developers available on Steam.
They are supposed to be 10, but 4 are yet to launch on Steam.

You can find them here:

Here's the bundle with the currently available games (the others will be added soon):

And, if anyone is interested in them, the full 10 game bundle is on sale at itch.io for $10 (all with Steam keys, even the games that are yet to launch there):

Getting rid of the coin shop killed my interest in the store. They rarely had worthwhile deals. I hope Nexus fares better.

There's a Halloween sale bundle of games on itch.io by developer/publisher Puppet Combo.
Besides including a game that is only available as part of this bundle (which is going away in about 3 days), one of the games, The Horror of Salazar House, launched today on Steam, and a Steam key for it is part of the bundle:

Phasmophobia has been killing it on steam for weeks now wtf.

Outside of RE games I don't think any horror title has sniffed the success of this game in recent years.

This better not release around Cyberpunk.

Pls EA don't do it.

Also Legendary Edition is a great name :coffee-blob:

Hmm.. how do I view hidden games on my library? I selected View->Hidden games, but nothing shows up. It tells me how many games are in this category
"click the category box at the right side of the search box in your game library and then select “Hidden.” To unhide a hidden game, right-click it here and then select “Remove From Hidden "

the answer is yes. next question

(seriously, I dig these videos and will watch this in a few, but... yes, of course they are, I don't mind if games leave them in as an option, but I find them to be a cheap and artificial way of increasing difficulty)

I was wondering if my Ryzen 5 1600 needs to be updated, but I'm not finding games that don't perform well at 1080.
Out of curiosity I was looking again at the Cyberpunk 2077 reccomended specs, and I still don't believe their accurate:

Recommended requirements:

OS:
64-bit Windows 10. DirectX 12 is necessary to run the game.
Processor: Intel Core i7-4790 or AMD Ryzen 3 3200G
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB or AMD Radeon R9 Fury

I'm not an expert, but I think the Ryzen 3 3200G is "lower" than the 5 1600, right?
How's that possible?
