Well, it has happened, as I have been compiling the information week after week since Summer began I thought it would be great to share the thoughts and discussions in one single place once a week.

In this first post you will find a collection that goes from June 21 up to September 6, 11 weeks of top sellers in which you will see a lot of interesting patterns, from MS banking on steam like a monster to Fall Guys taking steam as hostage being the new king of this land (alongside Among Us)

11 weeks of data in this visual style, and from now on every Sunday it will get updated with the correspondent weekly top seller, so, let's begin, shall we?

So here's this week's top seller list.

As you can see nothing too exciting compared to other weeks.

We still have Fall Guys and Among Us as the kings of the moment.
Crusader Kings 3 still strong with 2 places on the top.
Craftopia keeps growing at a slow but steady pace.
Avengers holds up with just 1 position.
Re-reckoning goes in, same as NBA 2K21.

Divinity OS 2 DE comes in again after a good sale.

Very nicely presented!

To me the most interesting thing going on right now is Craftopia. Basically, when you look at the design idea behind that ("take elements from all games we like and make an online multiplayer open world crafting adventure!"), it screams "new companies' first failure".

But it's not failing, neither in sales nor in reception (judging from Steam reviews). I find that fascinating.

The visual data is really cool Mor

For this week I'm not surprised that Fall Guys still is in the top spot and Among Us finally hit #2 as it kept growing past weeks. Like looks these numbers, the top concurrent players was just 14 hours ago :sweaty-blob:

Thank you so much.

Yes, Craftopia right now is a potential juggernaut too, out from nowhere and all the sudden is in the top 10 for 2 straight weeks, the number of players is growing and the review system is indicating that the reception is really good.

About Among Us, well, let's say it's going to be a real challenger for Fall Guys but so far they seem to be fine coexisting which is absolutely amazing, so similar in objectives (having a very good time with friends) and yet both found their own market.

The Among Us train is pretty interesting to watch. Don't have much interest in the game itself, but hells yeah!

And thank you overall for doing this thread and charts and everything Mor . I've always appreciated your work on here and in the Discord, as I'm a bit of a slut for statistics myself :steam_cleanseal:

Is Avengers a flop?

It never made the #1 spot but stayed in the top 10 for a couple of weeks at least. It's out of the top 10 as of today.

Wish there weren't so many redundancies with the same game with different SKUs to get a better idea of different games that are top sellers
Yeah, I tried to make different versions, one was pretty much a non-duplicates version but I didn't like how it changed the format so I decided to keep the redundancies but with the correct SKUs:cat-heart-blob:

Weekly update, GOD GOT DETHRONED!

After 6 weeks in a row, Among Us gets the first place and dethrones Fall Guys as the new king of the week, will it hold there? who knows but it seems like the battle has just get started.

Index kit is back as new stock comes in, this is a very usual thing that happens from time to time.

Crusader Kings 3 still holding quite well with 2 places on the list which is kind of impressive.

Sea of Thieves comes back after 6 weeks out, all thanks to the pirate sale.

Medieval Dynasty is something new and well, quite welcome to see new blood in the top sellers.

Hades comes in again with the release of 1.0

Conan got a new DLC which make it come back too.

Craftopia is holding quite nice and the numbers are really great.

Among Us is becoming a new Juggernaut, here's a comparison between Fall Guys and Among Us in their own projections, and as you can see, this is really interesting.

Fall Guys it's getting steady while Among Us is in the peak of popularity, how will it evolve? we will have to wait and see.

The biggest surprises for me this week were Conan Exiles and Medieval Dysnaty.

What is interesting about Among Us is it's also available for free on mobile devices so besides PC they may or may not be also making some money with the mobile crowd.

This week is way more interesting, let's see what happened in this last 7 days

Among us is the new king of the place, the hot topic right now and as king it holds the first place again.

Fall Guys is selling less than last week and as so Index reclaims the second place and F.G falls to the third place, bronze for you, my bean.

Hades is the real winner of this week, from seventh place to fourth and keeps selling really well, game is out of Early Access and as so it keeps selling, reception it's getting is really good.

Mafia: Definitive edition enters in fifth position and while it's a really great number (and the CCU peak it did was stunning with over 36k players) I feel like the game won't be featured next week but we will see.

Medieval Destiny holds the sixth position in the chart, still don't know about this game but seems to be selling really well.

Now we start with the "easy to explain" section of the top 10

Nier Automata re-enters the top after god know how many time with a seventh position, this is due to the TGS sale event and I'm sure the replicant announcement had something to do too.

No Man's Sky re-entered due to the Origins expansion and a little sale, it will be out next week (happened before in July)

Red Dead Redemption 2 is on sale and well, it's back in ninth position.

And Cyberpunk 2077 had another City Wire stream this week and while the last ones didn't make it enter the top 10, the closer we get to the release, the higher it will get.

And that's it for this week, what do you think? any comments? share your thoughts in here. :cat-heart-blob:

Hades is doing phenominally well. It peaked at around 37k concurrent players on Steam alone, which is more than the other three Supergiant games combined. (Bastion peaked at ~4k, Transistor peaked at ~6.7k and Pyre peaked at 4k). Of course that isn't the fairest comparison since Steam was much smaller when those games came out. As of yesterday, it was also the #2 game on the Nintendo eshop overall charts, behind Mario 3D All Stars.
You can't also forget the dozens of sales on EGS.

Not surprised by Among Us staying in first place, that boom was so big the developers decided to stop working in the sequel and will bring all the sequel content to it.

I think Fall Guys will still lose some positions until the start of the new season.

About NMS the trailer for the new expansion was pretty cool and seems to bring a lot of content. They also have an interesting strategy as every time a new content update is released they put it on sale.

RDR2 and Mafia remake are not surprises as people like open world games but I don't think we will see them again in the next week.

The biggest surprises for me still is Medieval Dynasty as it kept #6 spot.

Currently it is #25 in the Global top sellers list. Unfortunatelly I can't say how it performed on the launch day.

While it didn't sold that much right now (It's a party game which had it's moment last year) if we take a look at the CCU peak we can see it did well with almost 2k players last week.

Number of reviews is also high so that gives us an idea of how it is doing well enough, right now it must have sold around 50k copies

Three estimation metrics indicate the same, Insight with a bit less of 50k, SteamSpy with a bit more of 50k and the review maetric with a max of a bit less of 50k.

So yeah, don't think it's selling at a bad pace, plus, what curi0usBystander said, it got a main page banner for 24 hours, that helped a lot too.

It's Sunday, it's time for the weekly top seller chart

Ok, so, this week is quite interesting for a few things so let's get started.

Among Us is still the king of the top seller list for third consecutive week, popularity trend is unstopabble at this very moment and while it peaked CCU last 9 days ago, the player pattern is quite interesting, but that will come later.

Star Wars Squadrons is doing really great numbers on the platform, not only in terms of pre-orders to get a second place on the chart but also a fifth place for the release copies without pre-ordering.

Phasmophobia is a really interesting one, you might don't know this one but, what if I tell you that it's the hot topic lately alongside Among Us and Fall Guys? well, that's right, Phasmophobia enters at third place but doing some incredible numbers, once I comment the trends you will see why it's so amazing, new juggernaut incoming? time will tell.

Index is Index, always banking due to high price but also it's great to see that once it gets stock, it sells well, VR is amazing and I sure hope it sells well always.

Fall Guys keeps falling down for fourth consecutive week, from first to second, from second to third and from third to sixth, the game is loosing steam in the streaming platforms and the cultural circle around it is getting cold however season two is coming in mere few days so we will see if it explodes in population again or not, in any case, Fall Guys has been one of the best sellers of this year and both Devolver and Mediatonic are absolutely amazed by the reception and the performance of the title.

RDR2 went up thanks to the current sale so, at a personal level, I'm glad that is doing really well because it's one of my favorite games of the generation so, yeah, happy with this.

Mafia DE doing also really well, it went down, however the interest seems to be somehow steady and the economical results must have been favorable, so yeah, really cool to see this too.

And now my favorite part of the chart, the indies, both Spelunky 2 and Hades are in, Spelunky 2 debuting in ninth position, it won't hold another week most likely however, I'm very happy to see that it did well enough to enter the weekly list, and Hades is holding quite well for second week, it fell in position but still doing great so I'm sure Supergiant Games are happy with the results, love to see this indie titles doing so well :cat-heart-blob::cat-heart-blob::cat-heart-blob:

The trends I was talking about are quite amazing, let's take a look at both Among Us and Phasmophobia trends and you will see how the pattern is not only noticeable but also predictable in a future projection.

This is Among Us:

I bet you already see the pattern (except exceptions like platform not working properly) but, can you see how the projection is steady for the time being? can you spot the time-zones by player numbers? :coffee-blob:

And let's take a look at Phasmophobia curves.

From nothing up to almost 60k ccu peak player and all thanks to the popularity of gaming platforms such as Twitch and/or Youtube.

And that was it for this week, if you want to comment, please, share your thoughts and we will have an amazing discussions about data :cat-heart-blob:
Have an amazing week.

Oh god, what a week!

Well, after 3 weeks, Among Us got dethroned by no other than Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access, we knew sales of this game exceded the expectations however this is insane, over 11k reviews as for this very moment and a CCU peak of 73,9k, this game is going to be huge in the long term.

Phasmophobia also went up as it got more popular no Twitch and YT but also because, well, spooky month, reviews are good too, not as big as Among Us or Fall Guys in his best moment but still a great trend and easy to track.

Among Us fell to the third place, game is not becoming less popular, on the contrary, it's getting steadier, however other hits moved it to the bronze.

Index kit is something interesting that I will comment later, no surprises here as the top is revenue based and the kit itself is over the 4 digits.

Star Wars Squadrons is holding really well since release, same position but the population is steady as for now, how long will it be there? unknown, but if it keeps doing well it could be one of the under the radar hits.

Cyberpunk 2077, second time it appears in the last 3 weeks, it will be going up the closer we get to the release date, the city wire events also help the game to keep a growing trend and better positions on the weekly top charts.

Fall Guys keeps falling, the update helped the CCU count and player numbers but it didn't busted the game in terms of sales, so, while the game won't die anytime soon, the FG trend is over, it's already the fifth week falling so, yeah, projection is what it is.

Fifa 21 did better than I expected due to the quality of this year's edition, it will be interesting to see how it does in the near future and if it's able to become a hit on Steam, at a personal level, I doubt it.

Hades and RDR2 hold on the top 10, first one's popularity is right now really good and people are jumping in quite well, the second one still has a sale on-going and well, it's my second GOTY of 2020 so yeah, no wonder why people are jumping in.

Well, about Index, it has been featured for the fifth consecutive week in high positions, not only that but the performance itself got steadier each week, so, what's the deal? well, production and stock got better so people can buy it more often, at the same time we can see that the results of the charts reflect on the monthly hardware survey and in the case of Index, it became the third most used headset of the platform.

So yeah, while I don't usually mention it due to the high cost of this hardware and the fact that the top list is revenue based, let's not forget that Index is doing REALLY WELL. :cat-heart-blob:

Avengers on this list after news this week that active player count on PC is sub-1000?

Another week, not that exciting as last one but still interesting in some aspects.

What was going to happen, it happened, Phasmophobia got the first place, the top seller of this week, the trend of this game was pretty clear and well, the only outcome for this week was Phasmo or Baldur but this last one was dropping positions later the week so, Phasmo is the spooky king and no better moment for that.

Baldur's Gate 3 is still doing well (FFS, it's second place hehe) and all the metrics are good for it, good reviews, good enhancement with community, while it will decline in position over time (maybe a week or two) time will tell what happens with it but one thing is for sure, the game is already a success.

Among Us holds the bronze medal and stays in a very comfortable third position, game is not declining in population, it's a consequence of the growth of the other two, I mean, it won't be there forever but it is pretty clear that it's still a juggernaut, while Phasmophobia reacts under certain circumstances, I think Among Us will stay up more time as it's not a thematical game while the other is, we will see, have my own theories about that.

Cyberpunk 2077 goes up by 2 positions, the closer we get to the release, the higher it will stand, I think it won't be a surprise when it holds the first place for one or two weeks (if there isn't any other juggernaut like Among Us all the sudden) and expectations are higher than ever.

Index stays in and while it went down by 1 position, the stock went in this week so MAYBE next week we should see reflected such thing.

Age of Empires 3: DE debuts at sixth position and still can't determine what behaviour will it have, the trend is a bit weird yet so, once I have more idea, I will comment about that.

From now on it's games holding place.

Fall Guys holds seventh place, Fifa 21 holds eighth position, RDR2 gets replaced by GTA V by the same reason, a new sale for the game and Hades holds the tenth position like a champion.

So... that's pretty much it, let's see some more interesting data.

Phasmophobia's trend was a clear one, it has been ascendant for 3 weeks and the player base has been steady since then (you can see the regions where the game is more popular as the pattern repeats over and over) and now this thread makes even more sense:

Some pics about this.

And the CCU daily peaks

I also wanted to highlight how Hades have stayed for 4 consecutive weeks in the top 10 weekly chart holding the position week after week, the trend is clearly a decline in daily players numbers but it's amazing how well is doing since 1.0 release with over 26k daily CCU peaks.

I'm surprised Baldur's Gate 3 is still doing as well as it is. I finally got around to playing for a few hours and while the framework is good, there's an unmistakable early access jank around the whole thing. I know things will be much more polished by the time 1.0 rolls around, but it's not a super pleasurable experience right now. Honestly it just makes me want to start a new Divinity OS2 campaign.

It's quite possible given the current trend, yes.

It is due the engagement of the community with Larian PR, it's doing wonders for the development and reception of the EA.

New week, new post, this one seems to be a good one for RPGs in particular.

Phasmophobia kept the first place and the crown as king of the week and the closer to Halloween, the stronger it gets as the theme of the game is perfect for such time of the year, plus, some very interesting observation will come after this commentary about the Twitch numbers and the player correlation, wait for it.

Cyberpunk 2077 went from fourth place to second place, last week Panda Pedinte asked me if I thought it would be the best seller prior the release and my answer was that given the trend and the projection it was quite possible, well, today I can affirm that yes, I indeed believe that the game will be next week's best seller (I could be wrong tho)

Among Us said he wanted to keep the bronze medal and so it happened, numbers have not declined in terms of players, popularity is once again very high but at this moment of the year the spooky feeling of the month and one of the most wanted games of the last few years got way better results, make no mistake, Among Us is going to stay strong for some time.

The extreme capitalist spacey adventure of The Outer World debuted on steam in fourth place after only 2 days of sales with a CCU over 20k players, we can safely say it has been a success in terms of reception after 1 year of mid-exclusivity of EGS and Gamepass, like Phasmophobia I will comment a bit of the projection and trend of the game but it's a very impressive release nonetheless.

Baldur's Gate 3 EA dropped from second place to fifth place, make no mistake, the engagement of the game is still very good and the feedback between community and Larian keeps doing well, however it is pretty clear that, even with such amazing results the game will benefit from big updates and while it might be dropping soon now, it will probably reappear from time to time, we will have to wait and see what happens.

Index got new stock and it's being sold at a regular basis, nothing to comment here for now (for now I said)

Grand Theft Auto V is still on sale so it is normal that the game went up in this week two places, from ninth to seventh, nothing to comment here but what a one-of-a-time juggernaut in terms of sales and reception.

Fall Guys keeps descending to the abyss, from seventh to eighth, new season didn't refresh the number of newcomers and while the player base stayed more or less steady, it hasn't bring fresh blood to the game, however, can we say it's a disaster? HELL NO, this game has been and still is a juggernaut and it will probably end up in the platinum category later this year with Valve's list of top sellers.

Hades on the other hand saw the abyss and said "NOT TODAY, YOU DEMONS" and just like that it has been in the top sellers limit for four weeks in a row shifting between ninth and tenth position, funny and amazing to see how well is doing.

Speaking of spooky, Amnesia: Rebirth debuted on the list on tenth position, lower than what you could expect from a big name such as Amnesia but we will have to wait and see if Halloween saves the day, in my most honest opinion, it won't and this will probably be the first and last time we see it in this chart.

Little update about the graph I shared last week about phasmophobia, this time I decided to check how it relates Twitch and steam users and, well, quite well, actually.

The movements as you can see do the exact same pattern as the peaks and decreases of daily population, really cool, huh?

And about The Outer Worlds.... well.... Let's just say that the trend is quite interesting and the engagement was a success, this is why you release on Fridays if possible, fellas.

It won't be growing ad eternum but at the very least it showed that it was a complete success in terms of sales and the, already known, theory of the weekend three days of expansion, plus it helped a lot being a big name and featuring an animated banner.

That was all for this week, any questions? will try to answer. Want to share something? please do do :cat-heart-blob:
Thanks a lot for your time.

Thank you for taking your time to make those posts Mor they are insightful.

I think we might see C2077 reaching the 1st place during the next week.

The most surprising thing about Phasmophobia in my opinion is even if game looks janky and is kinda ugly it seems to be very fun to play.

I'm surprised by The Outer Worlds being there but I don't think it'll be in the next week. I played it on gamepass, started liking the game but later I got bored and dropped it.

I find it funny you can play TOW on Game Pass and it still placed so highly, especially after only a few days. Unfortunately, I think the success of games like Satisfactory, Hades, Control and TOW on Steam reinforces the mantra of taking the Epic exclusivity deal and getting a second wind during the Steam launch. I fully expect Hitman 3 and Darkest Dungeon 2 to top the Steam charts in 2022.

edit: Also I'm surprised Bethesda didn't put Doom Eternal on sale since the DLC came out. I honestly forgot the DLC existed until after it launched and I think it is one of my GOTY contenders. Seems like a missed opportunity.

About TOW, I think it will stay for at least 2 weeks (this and next one) in a good position and then start dropping, CCU and player base projection will be a decrease but that's normal.

About Phasmo, I think if it's fun to play solo or with friends then it's worthy :blobhug:

You can count on that about DD2 and Hitman 3, and about the first part of your post, well, take this as the "if we don't support this release..." paradox, the deals will keeep happening cause' it is direct income and they know, they really know about the potential percentages of each platform, however, the main consensus is, what would happen IF they see Steam is not viable anymore? you know? that's the paradox right now, whatever we do, movements will keep happening so it's up to us to support or not, in my case, I will keep buying the products if I'm interested.

Anyway, it's complex but at the same time, it's easy to track the potential results. :cat-heart-blob:

Yeah it's a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' situation. It's probably better for the games to still well on Steam since it'll guarantee future games, even if they're late. Not that I have much room to talk since I bought two copies of Hades when it hit Steam.

Smells like new top weekly chart (a day later) :evilblob:

This is a very interesting week in terms of movements, you see, it's one of those weeks which content is very varied and there's a bit of everything in it for everyone.

First of all, Phasmophobia keeps the crown and the first place and not only that but due to Halloween fest the game got it's highest CCU peak ever with over 112k players playing that night, it's absolutely impressive.

Among Us on the other hand is one that got benefited by Cyberpunk's delay, as a result of such piece of news, CDPR's adventure went from second place to third as pre-orders got slower for a bit (no rush now that it's releasing later) that's why Among Us dropped the bronze to get the silver, second place for this space adventure and third place for Night City Soho (kinda sus)

The Outer Worlds, I thought it would drop in positions in just a week, still in the chart but in lower numbers but the game held on a very comfortable fourth position like last week, don't think it will take long before it goes out but, surprising nonetheless.

Valve Index stays in the same range of 5th-6th as every week for 3 weeks already.

Hades is, in my opinion, an Olympian Champ, Hades has stayed in the top ten for 7 weeks already going from 4th place at first to the edge of the chart jumping between 9th and 10th positions, but this week the game jumped directly to the 6th position, what a hero! it's amazing.

Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access keeps going down but it's ok because this was expected to happen, not everyone is willing to jump in during the Early Access and while there's a lot of people who jumped in there's also the fact that a lot of us will jump when the is completed so it will come back at some point when that happens.

Ghostrunner debuts at 8th position, not bad at all but we will have to wait and see if it stays for next week, if you ask me, I doubt it.

Destiny Beyond Light DLC appears for the first time ahead of the official release, it debuted at 9th position but it will go up the closer we get to the release and after the release, so yeah, expect it to be higher next week.

Teardown debuted at #10 position and that's awesome, wish it was higher but at the very least it's selling well, let's hope it stays in the top 10 for another week :cat-heart-blob:

No additional charts this week, only the fact that Fall Guys went out for the first time since the release of the game 12 weeks ago, like Icarus, too close to the sun and wings burned so the fall was inevitable, you will be missed.

Phasmophobia is really doing well but I want to see how it performs in the next weeks and how much time will it persist in the top ten.

Not surprised by Fall Guys finally out, while the numbers of players seems to have stabilized I think many didn't stick after checking the update.

Among us keeps doing well and as noted by you took the 2nd place as Cyberpunk release was postponed to December.

Did Super Giant said anything about Hades sales on Steam? I have the impression it must be their best selling game during release. (I'm ashamed to say that I have no idea about what kind of game Hades is)

That's what I want to check during this week, however, I think it will stay strong for a while, I mean, the peak was clearly due to Halloween, however, I don't think the game is necessarily linked to this fest specifically, so it will be interesting to see how long it stays at number 1.

Indeed, it's more about newcomers than the already-in population, that one is still strong and people seems to still love the game.

Among Us is a juggernaut, plain and simple, I have no doubt that if Cyberpunk 2077 was about to be released this month, it would have been number one, but December's delay did a favor to our sus friends :evilblob:

Hades is a roguelite

While Super Giant Games games have not posted any split of platforms, Steam is well above the million copies in all the third party services that track steam numbers, so there's that.

Well, first of all, Sorry as I forgot to post last Sunday's chart for some reason and I just saw today, so, as an exception you will have 2 charts today, last week's one and today's one. :crying-face:

Let's do this quick as the info is already old.

Phasmophobia kept the crown last week, however the trends for this game shifted, now it's more popular among players than viewers, the twitch trend went down this week by a lot while the number of players kept steady, we will see what happens this week but I have the impression Phasmophobia won't be number 1 for much longer.

Among Us stayed second as last week, in terms of popularity is still a very strong competitor however it's slowing going down as expected, not because it's going to die but because it's getting steady, going down is not always a bad thing per say.

Destiny 2 Beyond Light went from #9 to #3 in a single week due to the big number of pre-orders for the new expansion, natural progression of the chart, nothing to comment here as it's something expected. We will see this week, it started very strong but it went down too, not sure about the number of revenue, we will see.

#4 is as expected Index, the range 4-6 is more or less Index territory so nothing to comment here.

WELL WELL WELL, Hades is a true Olympian Champ, right? before last week was at #6 and last week was #5, the game literally saw the abyss and said "not today, motherfucker" and started to climb once again, 8 weeks in a row in the top 10 chart, WHAT A CHAMPION! although I have my doubts about this week as lot of things released and well, some went down.

#6 is Teardown, prior current position it was #10 so that's good for the voxel based game, and hopefully it will stay one more week but not sure due to all the sales and releases, if anything the in-game population is steady and YT content seems to be more or less popular so, it's a potential late hit.

Cyberpunk 2077 keeps declining after game's delay, nothing to worry about, it's expected to happen and probably won't be in this week's top chart (or maybe it will) it will go up once the last release date is closer, as it happened in late october-early november.

Baldur's also keeps declining, the EA is slowing down in terms of newcomers and while communication and support is good with Larian, a lot of people will wait until the 1.0 non-Early Access.

Fifa21 and Ark returned due to good sale, nothing to comment in this matter.

This week's chart will be shared later today, once again, sorry for the delay and hope you like it :blobhug:
