I don't know if it was only me but the wording on the humble offer was weird. After digging around a bit it seems the rules are the following:
  • You pay 6$/month for 6 months. After those 6 months are over, if you remain subscribed, you'll pay the full premium plan price (22$ iirc);
  • The billing is month-to-month, you don't pay for the whole 6 months right now, you'll only pay 6$ for this month's games. If you want to keep January's games you'll pay 6$ then and so on;
  • If you pause or cancel you lose the 6$/month deal and will resubscribe at 22$. For instance, if you get December bundle for 6$ and pause January, the February one will cost you 22$.
Basically this all means that if you want the current bundle you can get it for 6$. If you don't like January's bundle you can cancel and it won't charge you extra for it.
Since I don't want to lose my classic plan, I'll just use a dummy account to take advantage of this promotion to get the current monthly and wait for January to see if I keep this second subscription or cancel it.

Yeah I noticed that after posting.
I'm still thinking about it tbh, even if I'm forced to get all 6 in a row, liking them or not. It's ~4.5€/month, so 27€, which is roughly 3 full price monthlies. If you consider that you'll get those 3 monthlies in the span of those 6 months. the other months are basically free and there's a significant probability they'll have at least 1 or 2 games that will interest you.
Need to think a bit more.
My biggest concern so far has always been my personal taste for games in general. I see a lot of great games in every Humble Choice month bundle but I know they are not for me and at max theres usually like 2 on my wishlist. If I could be giving a pause option I would definitely bite on the offer but I don't really like "paying blind" in advance, generally speaking.

So I dunno what to buy. Anyone got recommendations for a metroidvania or a dungeon crawler that is maybe a bit less claustrophobic than usual? Maybe lesser known too, since I've played a lot of shit.

Speaking of, any thoughts on Starcrawlers?

And weebros, Legrand Legacy at 1.67€ , yay or nay?
I will probably bite on Starcrawlers. I had Legrand Legacy on my wishlist but removed it because I believe I wouldnt enjoy it after reading reviews. That was a few months ago.

Thanks for clarifying to me these whole small details and circumstances given the great deal offered.
I think I might sub for this month since it have just got a great number of games I want and really want to play and cancel January if I don't see a similar bundle up to my personal taste. I will have to check current month again but this is a great opportunity I will have to consider.
Thanks again kio

I just replayed 3 hours of wasteland 2 because my new recruit just ran away.
And as the designer had the brilliant idea to randomize the loot, I just have shit weapons now.

Should I buy the Children of Morta Paws & Claws DLC where the proceeds go to charity to help cats and dogs? Yeah, that seems like ... like a good ... it's not on sale? I can't be expected to give to charity unless I get at least 30% off.

Please join me in rejecting this terrible deal:

This also seems like it doesn't work for people on classic plans since it's considered a premium plan deal.

How difficult is it to just give a discount and let people add on months to their existing plans? All these "new subscriber" only deals and lock you in no pausing while canceling your grandfathered plan is just wack.

Just a small correction, this isn't a "new subscriber" only deal. You can get the deal even if you're a returning customer but you won't get it if you're already subscribed for any plan (even if it is paused) - hence why people on the classic plan can't get it.
Yeah it's weird and I can't make much sense of it besides them trying to get people to cancel they classic plans.

Are you sure that it is not simpler? I would expect that people who have already subscribed for this month (December) cannot get in, because the coupon expires before the January bundle is revealed. I know I lost a coupon this way a few months ago.

Hmh now I have this problem, not sure what to buy or even if I should buy at all. I have 14 months of game pass and whenever I want to game I'll do it on my Xbox. So if I would buy anything now it would be for future pc. Hmmmmh.

But I am eyeing that doraemon story of seasons game and I would probably play that.

I sometimes think that Humble Choice ought to work closer to like it does for their regular bundles, like where you would choose fewer games and pay less if you don't want all the games. I pause because I usually have the indie headliner(s) and don't care about the rest. I want to pay less and pick up the one or two that might be interesting. I don't want to buy the stuff I don't care about. So $6 would at least get me buying something rather than nothing.

I get that doesn't really help with their bulk pricing idea, and I'd be almost turning it into a regular tiered bundle ... Ok this idea is pretty half baked...

Sales are frequent and prices only go down. I’d say wait until you have your PC situation settled.

Save the cash and spend it on building your PC rather than buying more and more games that you don't even have a device for. You just bought an Xbox and a whole bunch of Game Pass so I'd just enjoy that for now. You never know, some of the ones you buy may roll into Game Pass over the next 14 months.

And by the time you have built your PC the games you want will be even cheaper. The only time I'd say buy on PC for now is if there's a price error or a game is getting delisted soon.

I still hadn't paid this month's fee and I couldn't get it because it said I was already subscribed.
My dummy account that has it's subscription cancelled can get it.

If I canceled my classic plan on my main account I'm pretty sure I could get it there (and lose classic forever)

I understand that. I just meant the other deals they've given out over the years. "$99 for Humble Choice for a year." That's pretty good. "New subscribers only." 😔

They've had deals to bring in new customers and new accounts from old customers but don't try to keep enticing old subscribers. It makes sense if they just regret the classic plan.

Bought the Frostpunk expansion and I'm surprised that I only needed to unlock it and not download it. I'm already planning to check out on life for a week or so until I've fully burned out on it.

Happy Winter Seal everyone!

I spent most of my cash on the GOG sale already so I won't be participating much. I did pick up a few odds and ends though.

I literally just bought SS3 for the Blade Runner mod...

Steamdb if you are lucky and can log in through OpenID. Their sales pages have a filter option for "DLC for owned games".

It's not just Epic Store deal. There was 0 marketing. Not even a launch trailer. No streamers playing it. Nothing.
Probably banking on name recognition alone. The first one was one of the early major indie success stories. But between coming 10 years later and the EGS exclusivity, we'll see how that's gonna work out for them lol.

Also, I recently found out Edmund McMillen hasn't been involved with Team Meat in years and had nothing to do with this game. That honestly kinda killed whatever interest I still had left after the EGS deal...
