Brainfarting moment, what was that semi-recent Steam release of some old Japanese SRPG series that got a vita remake or some shit and that was remastered for Steam, it's got 3D graphics but old school SRPG format with just the world map and choosing where to go next, multiple characters to choose from sort of like Octopath and the SRPG battles wreck you fairly early on if you don't learn the rules. Actually might be more like JRPG battles but clearly strategic. Some of the details might be wrong/confused with something else. It's not Romancing Saga 2 or 3 or Langrisser 1 & 2, it's 3D chibi stuff.

While Toyama has been a first-party Sony developer for the past 20 years or so, he said that this new game will be a multi-platform release. “We are developing with PC as the lead platform, but we hope to release the game on as many console platforms as possible,” he said.

It's weird to think Epic can be funding every time a new/studio is looking for funding.

Epic is one of tons of other companies who funds games. For all we know it could be Bandai who is funding Toyamas new game, or Activision, or Kadokawa.

Theyre RTS, kind of like Warcraft with heroes and stuff,and theres also some light RPG stuff inbetween the missions.
Spellforce 3 is awesome

I love to see this level of transparency from developers.
I was never really into their games but I did use their forums for many years since TF2 is my favorite game of all time and they had a big TF2 community there. Unfortunately Garry kinda went crazy and nuked the forums but knockout exists as a spiritual successor.

Played the first 3 levels of Meatboy Forever on EGS and yeah...not sure why the dev(s?) thought this was a good idea, doesn't feel like the original game at all, feels like yet another difficulty endless runner with Meatboy skin to me. So if you are in for a difficulty endless runner you will have a good time. However, since this is suppose to be a "sequel" to the legendary Super Meatboy, Im dissapointed.

I was never really fond of End Is Nigh either (might give it another shot now though), but that game felt far more like a Super Meatboy sequel than Forever.

This is pretty big news. The only downside is that it's apparently regulatory hell to get listed on WeGame since all games have to be approved by the government. Speaking of which, I wonder what will happen to Steam in China after the Chinese version comes out. The international version is still supposed to be available even without a VPN, but the government might close that loophole.

Between this and Apple's new program, I hope Valve does something for smaller devs in the future. Valve's terms probably wouldn't be as generous since they aren't as large as those companies, but they might be pressured to do at least something.

It's far more than a downside, it's a sheer cliff of dystopia. The current market would be absolutely gutted if such rules were enforced. I, for one, do not want Chinese rules and censorship to have anything to do with the global market. Hell, I want it to be gone entirely :p.

Also, a 0% cut is probably unsustainable, and I don't think it's a fair thing to think this is how platforms should be operating. This is more of a loss-leading tactic, though a far better one than buying exclusivity from games in development. Steam also shoulders a lion's share of the fees regarding a plethora of payment methods. There's a lot more to a store and that discussion than the cut.

Tencent can afford to do the 0% cut since they're a behemoth of a corporation and their PC client sales are probably a marginal sector of their company. I agree that discussions about store commissions are nuanced and yelling 12% like a certain CEO isn't very productive. At the same time, if Valve did something like lower the cut on direct sales to 15% for the first $50,000 of Steam revenue, it would probably go a long way to helping smaller devs.

Li Kao I had Calico in my steam queue today, Space Game Junkie had a stream of it yesterday and the game looks really chill... with some amusing animation glitches and quirks. The sprint animation and the way animals ride your head or shoulders got me laughing.

Thanks for acknowledging that, and I agree that it would help them immensely. I'm just not sure how sustainable it is. This is an answer that only Valve holds, and I'm not sure I want to stan for them that much. I just feel concerned of the long-term consequences of a race to the bottom of "cuts" and how brittle it might make the platforms that still hold the PC up.

Basically I'd really like them to lower their cut, but I wouldn't want it to be at the expense of the stability of Steam. I would also very much like the same to happen with Sony, MS and Nintendo who still stand at their 30% last I checked, undisturbed by the gaming community and media I should add.
