It's not on my Blitz but I have it on my personal goals for the year as I finish up the Resident Evil games. I've heard mostly bad about it but that's not making me feel any better! Not surprised there isn't much talk about Resident Evil Zero, it's easily the worst RE game I've played. backtracking at its worst, uninspired bosses, very limited inventory space.
That makes it 4/5 for this season.
While I will always agree that the Halo games aren't good and don't understand the praise they get, I'll at least point out that Halo 2 was original Xbox still so that could explain even more about its limitations. Halo 3 was the first one on 360.Down goes Halo2. Fun, especially switching between the the new and 360 graphics. Maybe it's because I've been pc gaming the majority of my life, including shooters, but I don't see how that game is considered so amazing? Maybe it's because it's been nearly 20 years since it came out and I'm playing a shinier version of that same game, but man, the level design in the campaign is still circular corridors that really show the hardware limitations of the the 360 and really show now. Also, maybe it was the multiplayer, something I don't partake in?
Halo2 was on the original xbox? I just remember the hoopla around it and GFWL/Vista. Man, I'm old. I stand by it though, from a gameplay and design perspective, garbage. Technically (graphically), not bad. At least the new cutscenes were enthralling and Keith David is always good on the earsWhile I will always agree that the Halo games aren't good and don't understand the praise they get, I'll at least point out that Halo 2 was original Xbox still so that could explain even more about its limitations. But don't worry, that extra horsepower didn't mean the game was suddenly good. The series remains bad even that generation.
I recommend playing Resident Evil 1 before 0. In fact, play 1, 2, 3 and CV before 0.Conveniently I've never played through Resident Evil so I really don't know the specifics of the events in that game. That's also on my list and of course I'd play after Resident Evil 0, assuming I make it all the way through and don't back out of it.
Difficulty. Zero is the only one that has the option to restart the game with all your current items because you may get stuck against enemies you may have no chance of defeating.Really? Is it because of release order?
Any mods to make it super easy so it can be played mainly just for story? I did that with Witcher 1 back in 2019 when I played through the series because I mostly just wanted to get through that one for story and not deal with frustrating combat sections.I've now beat Dragon Age Origins (I'm now working through all the DLC, there was a lot of characters that mesh up with the 2nd game I didn't realize, some of it being such a long time between playing it and well just not remembering)
Story holds up great. Combat on it is pretty bad anymore. Normally I play games on the hardest difficulty otherwise I just get super bored with how easy I find them (Just how it is to me) but I just set it to normal/easy on stuff because I would of had to micromanage every character with constant pausing and it would of taken years to finish the game.
So my main character in Origins is a Dalish elf, they essentially refused to join human cities and are nomadic until all elves join together to find a new homeland etc etc but the elf clan you're a part of in origins to the fact of You actually bring Merrill (One of your future companions in DA 2) into a cave at the very beginning of the game to inspect a mirror that basically sets off the chain of events into how your character becomes a grey warden. But for DA2 it is actually the same clan you interact with a ton with in DA 2 and one of the things you sort of end up doing in DA 2 with one of your Companion if you follow through on side quests etc with Merrill you can end up killing everyone in her Dalish elf clan, so basically the main characters of Origins entire Dalish clan gets murdered in the defense of Merrill Lol. I just found it kind of wild. Anyways
There isn't really any mods that I know of that affect anything worthwhile besides the UI and displaying hats, although there's a glitch that can basically give you infinite money. If you set the game on easy you can pretty much just have all the other characters on auto pilot and focus on your character and only pause to heal yourself.Any mods to make it super easy so it can be played mainly just for story? From what I can remember Ground Zeroes is overall far more limiting and requires a lot more stealth as a whole. I know I played it mostly sneaking around. Phantom Pain on the other hand has so many items you can get that you are far more free to play the way you want and going more action works in most cases. I don't want to spoil any systems in the game but once the game opens up you're most free to play to your style.I wonder if I should switch game or should I take on the main game MGSV you think?
No you can finish it in one playthrough easily and there's plenty of time.I started playing Lightning Returns yesterday. The game is very different from the previous games. Now you have one character in battles, and it's more of an action based RPG rather than turnbased or whatever the previous games were.
What kinda me is the limited time I have. I have to as much as possible in a short time. For the first time ever, I looked in a walkthrough right in the beginning of the game and see what I should do in order to not miss anything.
I also looked for video with tips and tricks. One of them even suggest that I should fail all days and receive op items that I should use for New Game+.
How is the game supposed to be played? Is it expected that I will not beat the game in the first playthrough and multiple playthroughs are required?
Hopefully MGRR more fun than MGSV.I finally made time to get through Trine 2 in a couple of chunks and I'm glad that's all done before the weekend as it was kind of hanging over my head. I had a good time with it overall but this one ultimately seemed kind of smaller and tight with some slightly annoying mechanics despite having a lot of creative areas and the new abilities did allow for freedom in some solutions. It's kind of hard to describe what I feel about it compared to the first game but I think the first one was more open about letting me grapple everywhere and I just had a great time with that in comparison of using all the different abilities this time. I am really interested to try the 3D playing field in the third game, though. And of course Trine 4 is also of interest since it's much more recent and hopefully shows some advances that time would allow.
Only Metal Gear Rising Revengeance remaining. I won't hop into that right away but I'd like to have it done in a week or two so I'm not rushing at the end of March.
The game is "Look at all those weapons you are not supposed to use"For all its other faults, I really enjoyed MGSV gameplay.
Just one tip, don't forget to research heavy weapons like rocket launchers and shit. I played very stealthy and mostly non-lethal most of the game and definitely regretted not doing a lot of heavy weapon research in some spots.
This.I haven't touched any of my blitz games in a while.
Thanks for pointing it out.@MegaApple just a reminder you might want to pick your games soon. Your row is still blank!
I'm really looking forward to the next Blitz because I randomly themed it for Metroidvanias for me, which I really enjoy, but as with most folks and owning too many games I start stuff and put them off or just never even get around to starting games. So now I'm lining up Metroidvanias I own and haven't started or completed and I'm getting excited to run through a bunch of them.In this Blitz I've played many, but finished at least 5 games. My final completion was Puyo-Puyo Tetris on the Switch, which was actually pretty okay. And by "finished", I mean any story mode. Obviously with Puyo-Puyo Tetris there's still tons of gameplay after the story mode, which is a good way to learn the different gameplay mechanics. But after all's said and done, I will probably just stick with Tetris.
Now onto thinking about 2021's second Blitz.
