Epic only wants to keep those games out of Steam for the first year and see if they can hurt it, that's it, they don't care if you buy it or now, whatever Epic paid for KH exceeded the amount of copies it will probably sell at that price.
One of those 60€ games is a remaster of a 3ds game + a 1 or 2 hours movie + a demo

That said I doubt they would have any interest in imposing prices.
I mean, I get that they want to hurt Steam, but there's no logical reason why Epic wouldn't also negotiate the price. Their endgoal must be to train people to buy on their store, that's where the money is. No one will jump at those crazy prices, that will turn off all but the most die-hard fans.
I can kinda understand Square here, they know they'll get huge sales a year later by putting all games at a "50%" sale when it releases on Steam, but that means Epic is paying a premium to have the game in their store for a year, with a deliberately unappealing price tag.

Between this and their harebrained legal battle against Apple, Epic's business leadership come across like absolute buffoons. Tim Epic might know how to program video game engines, but he's a big dumb dumb when it comes to running a business..

Stop making me need to watch it, I know it's going to depress me.

What I saw of the cinematography alone was amazingly good.
You should watch it. Personally, despite the topic, I didn't really find it depressing in the end.

In addition, I asked them about this explicitly with a message during the KS, and they confirmed a launch on Steam. Of course, there's always a tiny chance that all of that could be lies, but I am confident that's not the case.

:S

Been hearing some good stuff about it from peeps but if that's the case i will just get Forza Horizon 4

Speaking of NFS, what're the more wortwhile games of the series from its 2000s era? preferbly ones that don't have story cutscenes :p
Criterion's Hot Persuit (2010) is my favorite.

Heat bored me rather soon because of the MMO-like design: you need to grind day races for money, which you need to buy upgrade parts for your car. The more upgrades you install, the higher your cars rating. To progress in the story, you need to do night races to earn XP. Each race has a rating as well, and there's the problem: if your cars rating is higher than the race rating, you win the race without any efforts. Is your cars rating lower, than it's almost impossible to win. In other words: grinding is the biggest factor to determine if you win a race instead of your driving skills. I'm aware that many modern AAA games are designed this way, but I really don't like it.

Isn't DirectX 12 working on majority of GPUs? I mean how old card you need to have it does not work.
DirectX 12 works on most cards from 2015 onwards but anything before that isn’t as widely supported.

Its less demanding to emulate the original KH games on PS2 then it is to play them natively on PC. Thats pretty shit.

Yes I see. But why people still use Windows 7 is beyond my understanding, it's not supported any longer.
(Of course you could still have Win 8.1 and have the support until 2023)

You can basically upgrade Win 7 for free to 10. I did that to my father's pc not that long ago. Win 10 has been also in the market like 5 years, so it's not a new OS.

It has been said many times before, but I'll say it again: devs and publishers are Epic's customers, not us as consumers.

And it doesn't seem to be doing that well for them. We're almost halfway into jsut february and it seems like multiple games have done great on Steam, just to name a few: Valheim, Dyson Sphere Program, Tale of Immortals, Little Nightmares 2, Rust has blown up again on top of my head, I know there's more.

so weird to see this genre coming back with the below titles, with Age of Wonders being quite successfull while HoMM is being massacred by Ubisoft for years

Sale haul finished. Still slowly working through Hitman 1/2 in Hitman 2 so it will be a while before I play any of them, but I have built up a nice backlog of VR games to play once I get into that groove again (Moss, Fisherman's Tale from this sale). Updated my profile with a nifty space background that was recently added. Normally I roll with the sale theme profile, but the space stuff was just too cool.

Other than win10 being shit?

On new office pc built in calculator can take 10+ seconds to start cause that trash of an OS data mines or doing its own thing. 'Hold on lad, I'm in the middle of something'.
And that full screen white cog against blue background everywhere, piece of shit lol.

I can totally understand it, Windows 10 is still in many ways a far more annoying desktop computer operating system than Windows 7.

Quick thoughts: It wouldn't suprise me if Disney is behing the KH EGS deal. Square doesn't seem to care about EGS and the only other game there is DQXIS, not even the Avengers game is there and that game seemed to have bombed on all places it released.

Like, the only EA games on EGS are the Star Wars games and it's also surely due to Disney.

Wouldn't disney also be interested in having the Avengers game there, tho ?

That said have we forgotten about Rise of the tomb raider.

Because Windows 10 has so many issues it isn't funny, from forced updates to the way MS seems to be headed toward with their ever-increasing attempt at control with UWP, not to mention how ugly and barely usable the UI is compared to 7.

An OS not being "supported" by MS doesn't suddenly make it unusable :).

I believe everyone has opinion regarding Win 10 but personally never had problems with it. Have been using it since launch home and also in the work computer when it came available.

I agree Win 7 was really good OS but being out of support I would not risk to use it in current world of security related challenges.

I really don't see how the EGS makes financial sense even with that in mind. It just looks like a pointless and frankly lazy way to replace Steam without understanding literally anything about how Steam works or why it is successful.

If you have found the most current OS from MS to work for you, that's a great position to be in. I, and others, were only explaining why we are staying on 7 since you were puzzled by it :).

Sweeney don't care. He puts himself out there as some kind of billionaire Robin Hood and almost everyone laps it up.
Sure he's done some great things and he's a great software engineer but i'm still suspicious of the vendetta he has against steam. Especially when they're doing the exact same shit they accused Steam of doing and devaluing games. It's hypocritical.

Anyway, moving on.

People have given up on many privileges on the way to today's tech landscape, e.g. in (non-gaming) software ownership and internet privacy. So my guess is that Epic is banking on something similar taking place in the PC gaming ecosystem. They throw around free stuff, amenities to keep people's minds off of the ways in which it's screwing end users. Unfortunately, this will probably work out perfectly fine over the long term.

I recall the trend of mobile apps going subscription only. People who had already paid for the app under the presumption that it'd be a one-off buy get upset, understandably. Developer catches flak on social media. Developer gives them a year or a lifetime access to the app. Existing users get theirs and shut up. For everyone else, this is the new normal.

I think my biggest gripe with Windows 10 is that it will take some effort to customise it to a leaner operating system without all the bloat.

  • Removing telemetry collection.
  • Removing built-in AppX apps.
  • Removing Windows Store.
  • Removing the Game Bar,
  • Removing whatever windows services left which aren't needed for my use case.

The effort which otherwise could be spent installing programs, games or mods I want to play, I had to spend it on this operating system instead. Of course, I could shell out for an Enterprise version of Windows 10 and possibly cut these efforts in half, but that costs money.

There's plenty of scripts out there to remove/disable that stuff in Windows 10 and generate an ISO/Installer for you.

You're completely right. But Epic is playing a long term capitalistic game here, which has worked out for some other companies using a similar strategy like Amazon. Time will tell if EGS succeeds or not. Many young people love Epic because of Fortnite and the free games.

Might very well be a dumb fake but....It does line up with what Queen has claimed in her madness thread :
That list of Sony pc ports certainly has been seen here on some occasion.
I think if Nintendo were releasing a Switch Pro in April, they would have announced it already. That alone makes me doubtful of the other claims.

I totally get using Win7 for as long as possible. Win10 was a disaster on my end. If you're a low bandwidth user, it's basically unusable because of the constant forced updates. I ran into a few times where the update just didn't work, for reasons the OS doesn't bother to make clear, and had to fully reinstall each time. Which again, if your bandwidth is terrible, that might take two days because you still have to download all the updates. And they may not work again. On top of that, the updates silently work in the background for as long as it takes, sucking down all the available bandwidth.

It's nuts how little user control you have when MS won't leave the damn thing alone and can mess with it any time. It's very hard to have an offline/low access Win10 machine.

(although as of the last month I can use the internet like normal people now)

So yeah, valve's proton project is a huge thing to me. Happily using linux.

The only reason why I posted it here is because the list of Sony PC ports reminded of what was said here. Hence why it's more credible that the rest.
Here's what Queen said in January :

"Bloodborne
The Last Guardian
Ghost of Tsushima
Uncharted (unconfirmed which one)
The Last of Us
God of War
Days Gone"

All of them coming to PC.

You know, if Steam isn't a bunch of cowards, they should ban this game from their store if the development actually manages to get off the ground this time . They probably won't, though.

Yooka-Laylee developer Playtonic Games has announced the launch of Playtonic Friends, a new publishing label designed to bring “fresh, creative, and compelling games” to the market.

The first three studios working with Playtonic Friends are as follows:

  • Awe Interactive – Formed in 2019, Awe Interactive’s first release was a marked hit, with rhythm-action FPS rogue-like BPM: Bullets Per Minute garnering critical and commercial acclaim when it launched on Steam on September 15, 2020.
  • Fabraz – Fabraz is an indie game development studio based in New York drawing from minds and talent found across the world. The studio was behind critical darling Slime-san, which won plaudits and high scores aplenty when it launched on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam in 2018.
  • okidokico – The studio behind the celebrated OK Golf series, okidokico, made its name releasing beautifully crafted titles on iOS and Android and has creatives working in Montreal, Geneva, and Tokyo.

Nothing fixes the UX or avoids the path forced updates are taking us on though. But yeah, W10 can be tweaked, I just don't see why I should. My VM has 10 and that's as far as it'll get.
