This whole thing where GamePass is getting new ports is really sh*tty thing to do. And coverage in game media is mediocre is best. But again it's not that this industry is full of sh*tty things done to consumers so it is not that surprising.

Are any of the EA Games on game pass trials or are everyone non-trials?

Edit: Seems like FIFA 21 is the only trial, cool.

What the fuck, the new EA Desktop App wiped all my playtimes, at least all my games are at zero.

Im gonna laugh and cry if my existing playtime is only counted on Origin.

If you own Hades and you play CSGO then you will probably get a free CSGO Hades music kit according to latest patch notes

– As a cross-promotion with Supergiant Games, owners of Hades on Steam, after they accrue sufficient playtime in the game, will receive The Hades Music Kit in CS:GO.

If you’re a fan of Supergiant Games’ Hades, you may already own the Music Kit. If you own the game on Steam and have more than 5 hours of play time you’ll find the Hades Music Kit in your CS:GO Inventory.

I can't find cheevos for Squadrons on EA Desktop App. Would be weird if Steam version has cheevos, but not the EA Desktop/Game pass version.

If I can't find any Im just gonna get the Steam version, it's on sale anyways. Well my plan was always to check the game out with game pass and buy it on Steam.

Edit: Yeah doesn't seem like there are any cheevos and the playtime isn't tracking yet either so far. Gonna see if I like playing it in VR for 30 min and then buy it on Steam. Not gonna deal with this EA Desktop App shit. Also the games that has cheevos on Origin doesn't here.

Seems like Valve moneyhatted all the competent software developers.

Edit 2: Unless EA updates it, so far existing playtime tracking and cheevos are exclusive to Origin. What a big bunch of shit.

welcome to the new world and new trends where publishers are putting PC patches/pseudoremasters exclusively on one store (like WinStore here) , while bandoning the old one

yay :dizzy-face:
I agree that it's horribly shit, and I despise Square for this behavior.

That being said, I've had this problem on GoG for a while. Patches coming much later than Steam, or never because the devs can't be arsed.

When you think that we've had enough with exclusivity deals for games, we now have exclusive patches too. Fml.
I hope this "exclusive better version" doesn't take off, I already imagine Epic shilling money for exclusive improvements
PC gaming becoming better and better with each passing month

they really ARE determined to make it all go to shit again like it did in the 2000s, aren't they?

These publishers shit where they eat and seemingly would rather not have to eat there at all. That dive is filthy communist after all, what with its open-ness and the ability for everyone to set up shop equally.

That's certainly not capitalism, that one is when nobody but the ones having already won the game are still allowed to play.

The results are?
people moving to consoles because of all this bullshit (and i'm not just talking about the exclusive patches ... i'm also talking about 2839482394394 launchers, and other bullshit that's going on) ... publishers deciding to stop releasing games on PC because "not many people use PCs to play games anymore"/"PC is mostly pirates"

i'm not saying it's the same situation ... but the results will likely be the same
Disagree. I don't see that happening, Steam and others are too entrenched, there is too much money in that market for it to disppear. Pubs may leave out of idiocy or stay within their little store (coughs Ubisoft) but overall they are mostly going to miss out and make more room for others.

I do agree that this collective attitude is what led to the 2000s drought and all, but that was also in conjunction with a new gen of consoles that people could actually buy and a smaller PC market overall if I'm not misremembering.

To be fair, up until a while ago getting patches onto GoG was simply harder than getting patches onto Steam (in addition to the latter usually having 10x+ the audience). From that perspective I think it's understandable if small devs with limited capacity prioritized the Steam versions (as long as they also eventually patch the GoG version).

It's certainly a different situation compared to a big production like Nier not getting a single patch on a platform where it's incredibly profitable.

I understand that, and it's why I just sighed and bought my game on Steam next for a while. Then GoG got its act together and things got better, patches were day and date there. I will disagree with your mentioning that disparity in audience though, if it was mentioned as an excuse for it. That should not matter, devs should treat their customers equally.

That being said, you are right, Nier is a unique and deplorable case. Still, patches not happening on a platform when they are available on another do have a precedent.

I feel the current situation where it's basically impossible to get new GPUs at normal prices is much more likely to drive people away from PC Gaming. Certainly won't make it very attractive for someone to enter PC gaming when coming from consoles.

If you are a small studio and have bandwidth to work on one thing at a time, there are basically two options: do it sequentially or deliver it late to some platforms purely to ensure equality. Personally, I think delivering it in order of the number of people affected is the better choice in that situation.

Of course I wouldn't support this type of reasoning for larger (even medium-sized) projects which have sufficient staff to work on multiple patches/builds at the same time. And as I said, even for small projects, the patches should absolutely be delivered on all platforms as quickly as possible. I just don't believe in delaying them on some for no reason.

Can Disco still release digitally on consoles in Australia, or does it need a rating for that as well?

I completely agree there, a delay is always expected, especially when the way GoG deployed patches back then was basically "What's a delta? Here, have a 1.15_to_1.16.exe". The issue was that in some cases, the patches never arrived, or weeks late. I think that's no longer acceptable behavior, which I saw happen on Wasteland 2 and PoE 1 D:OS1 if I'm not misremembering.

EA Desktop App wants me to log in every time I start it up. Neither email or password is saved despite of the "keep me signed in".

This piece of shit is a bigger piece of shit than I thought.

I would rather use Origin, but Origin doesn't seem to have any EA Play game pass support, it requires the desktop app.

Origin is a slow, laggy craphole, but at least it keeps my existing playtime and have cheevos.

As far as I know, consoles require ratings for all releases, digital or not.
Dang. Maybe they can put out an edited version with fake drug names if that's really the issue.
If TES can get away with Skooma and Fallout with its various chems, so can Disco!

There is too much money because all the publishers fucks regional pricee

im with you in this, were publisher fuck up regional prices, no gpu market without paying a lot, patches exclusives, a lot of people here are in the US or Europe, you really need to imagine the situation in South america were you cant event imagine get a gpu or how in some cases publisher want to force us to pay more that united stated, its really really crazy.

i really not sure what publisher respect regional price.

A lot of my friends stoped buying games because its insane, imagine buying a 3060 for 1600usd or paying 64 usd for forza 4 standard version a 3 years old game in a country were minimal wage is 400usd.

i cant really think about the situation in Argentina, where they make a game 500% more expensive because "some people" exploit the system.

it's more like 500% + additional 65% they have to pay on every USD transaction ... so yeah

and volvo fixed the exploits like a year ago, so it's not like that's the reason anymore ... and it probably never was anyway ... they just want more money

I've been playing some Euro Truck Simulator 2 to relax the last couple of evenings.

Does anyone here have any experience of using apps that turn your smartphone into a steering wheel? I just encountered the subject and it seems interesting, but there are a few different apps to use, and they all look varying degrees of questionable. I don't want to install any malware by accident just to try it out...

Origin is fine for me for the last 18 months at least. There again i only have a few games on Origin, no friend activity etc so i'd expect it to be quick.
I'm not looking forward to being forced to use this EA Desktop app in the future. It's sounds bad but maybe it'll be fixed by the time they force everyone onto it. I've no interest in EA Play, chievos or social stuff as i don't play MP and none of my friends have bothered contacting me about my EA account or whatever.

Steam is the only PC platform i have friends on.

If I wasn't dirt poor I could have seen myself trying Avengers. Or DQ something. And I was patiently waiting for a discount on DQ Builders 2.
Fuck everything.
