Glad to see the sale is happening soon. Want to get Half-Life Alyx but wasn't willing to pay full-price after seeing it has already been close to $35 on sale.
Then again, that's the JPN sale so maybe it won't be on sale and i'll just grab my JPN wishlist titles lol.

I cannot get NieR Replicant to run at all. Keeps crashing my PC when I try to run it fullscreen. Fucking Square Enix and their shitty PC versions.
Are you able to launch it in borderless window mode? Try disabling FSO and see if you can use fullscreen.

If you use the fullscreen option with FSO enabled, then Windows takes over and turns it into borderless window mode anyway.

At the hardest part of the game now.

wish me luck:fearful-face:

Looks like they blocked all fishing spots until you finish getting the one for your sister :face-with-tears-of-joy:

I don't know about you but I'm off to fish in the desert because anime has taught me that there is always fish hidden somewhere in the sand. You know those anime where the sand dunes and stuff have ships (but that has nothing to do with this game)

Also I watch the Mortal Kombat movie and it was a fun watch. It did feel like it rushed over some parts though but the action scenes were pretty fun and the ending hinted at a sequel pretty much.

Is this the template that Valve provides to devs to use when promoting their games as part of the sale?

Does anybody know how long is the free demo of It Takes Two? I plan to try it with a friend today, and I would like to know approximately at which point the inevitable question will arise.

Anyway, if the game is good and runs fine, I will most likely pay the full price for it. There are only a few games per year for which I agree to do so, and this could be one for this year, along with Silksong and maybe Psychonauts 2. I would have paid full price for Crash 4 in another timeline.

Thanks, I will certainly do that but I recall that in order to be truly rid of all the crap you need to selectively remove updates, not to mention powershell scripts to nuke Cortana and things of that nature. I just wonder if there are tools that help numbnuts like me who don't want to spend their week-end on that.
Just wanted to mention that sometimes, seemingly unrelated PC problems that drive you crazy can occur a long way/time from when you mess with things like telemetry and Cortana, etc. etc. Unless its critical to you, I wouldn't mess with it too much.

Having said that, I use Classic Shell to make the OS look and act more like W7 and also Directory Opus because I'm old and will never be without dual-pane explorer file windows.

A positive thing that came out from my playthrough of FFVIIR despite my dissapointment in it, is that Im a lot more eager to play other FF games. I've only played VI and VII so far (did start on XV some years ago, but quit for some reason), so I've added VIII to my curated backlog on Steam.

I just really enjoy the games, especially due to the story and characters.

if you don't buy NieR Replicant, you are not my friend, you never were my friend and you will die in the following winter, lonely, abandonded, shards of a broken dream in front of you and tears of regret running down your sorrowful face

Hey you :grimacing-face:
Do you happen to know of a good spoiler free guide ? Particularly for Unlocking endings and missables ?

With Special K at least NieR is a solid 4k/60 at max settings on my rig! It's a really good remaster/remake/"version upgrade" so far.

Turns out it was SpecialK causing the problem. Updated to a newer version and that fixed it.

Apparently it was causing problems with people playing fullscreen or borderless at 4K60.

Working fine now. Can't get G-Sync to work with the game but my PC can play it 4K60fps no problem (so far) so I'm not complaining too much.

To get all Endings, you just need to play the game normally and get all weapons

Unlike what that links says tho, it's not actually missable, idk why they wrote that.

The onlything missable in the game are the sidequests in the first half, as they become uncompletable going into the second.
So if you wanna do them, do them before going to the mansion.

The weapons you would get from sidequests in the first half become purchasable in the second half at stores tho.

Glad games are getting more recognition today than in the past :cat-heart-blob:
Lots of games were recognized during the 80s, 90s and early to mid 2000s.
During the late 2000s, gaming media in the west started downplaying and ignoring JP developed games.

Swenhir This PowerShell script may be of use.

Powershell script

I'd recommend blackholing DNS queries to the following hostnames as well.

Code:
watson.ppe.telemetry.microsoft.com
vsgallery.com
watson.live.com
watson.microsoft.com
telemetry.remoteapp.windowsazure.com
telemetry.microsoft.com
wns.notify.windows.com.akadns.net
v10-win.vortex.data.microsoft.com.akadns.net
us.vortex-win.data.microsoft.com
telemetry.urs.microsoft.com
us-v10.events.data.microsoft.com
urs.microsoft.com.nsatc.net
watson.telemetry.microsoft.com
It's been a while since I've researched MS' telemetry endpoints, so they may have added a few more since then.
This is not criticism towards you, just an observation in general:

I've always wondered if there's a correlation between those who go out of their way to mess with Windows to prevent telemetry and such, and those who complain that each Windows 10 update suddenly breaks their computer and blue screens everything.

EdwardTivrusky and Kvik thank you so much to you both! I'll get to it today, probably. I'm also going to be looking at a classic shell and a way to get aero to work again, but that's Don Quixote stuff by now.

Also, can confirm that the lods in Nioh 2 are pretty bad.

Well to make such a connection you'd have to prove that blocking these DNS result in technical issues. And if that is the case, why is telemetry required for the functioning of an OS? I mean, as someone who is trying to get MS to stop getting my data for free and without my consent, I think that none of this is normal.

Fair enough. My point was more that there is always a risk of breaking something when you go and mess with stuff that not necessarily is meant to be messed with.

And both sides of the "Windows 10 updates always break things" are anecdotal as hell. Personally, I've never had any issue with Windows 10 updates and I've not messed much with deeper settings than turning off the telemetry that Windows itself allow me to turn off.

But again, anecdotal evidence which is worth pretty much nothing.

I get your point but I would argue that there's a lot of nuances there. Removing modules of the OS and uninstalling updates isn't messing with it, it's just normal operations that you are supposed to be able to perform. Only blackholing the IPs I would recognize as something more advanced and a computer shouldn't need access to an IP not to BSOD :p.

I would say that Windows 10 updates have historically been shown to break stuff a lot from time to time and MS's lack of QA since 8 certainly doesn't inspire confidence. The latest one seemed to ruin PoE and a few other games for a lot of people, I wouldn't call that anecdotal.

Replicant seems to working just fine. Just enable Vsync from Nvidia settings, limit the FPS to 60 and disable Steam Input.

Loving the game already.

I know I'm very lttp on this one but I'm playing Celeste right now. It's a very solid platformer and the touches on theme of mental health are handled well imo so far (unlike something like Hellblade which just repeatedly bashes your head with it over and over again, "do you get it?")

With all the talk on the game's difficulty having been focused on the accessibility options and the DLC, I feel like the difficulty of base game Celeste has been understated, this is much harder than I expected :dizzy-face:

YUUUUUP

I hate the 2006-2013 era A LOT, I enjoyed the early 2000's like I haven't enjoyed this media ever and it was the PS360 era the one that nuked all what I loved.

Most surely fake but just imagine a panel like this popping up in a Sony conference

Unfortunately a lot of this shit will pop-up due to the latest change via curator page (which is franchise page, btw, so even more interesting)

I have yet to install Windows 10 on my home PCs, but from experience in dealing with end-users running Windows 10 in my workplace, Windows Update will --without question -- break an installation at any given time, from simple things like preventing a print job, to more insidious issues like CTDs, regardless of whether telemetry collection has been removed or not.

Obviously, the programmers' workstations with customised install script (Winstore/Appx removed) are less affected since they're running the Enterprise version, but for remote workers running the Pro version (which is pretty much a vanilla windows installation) has been affected in one way or another.

I don't even use SpecialK (No reason to) and it's a solid 5120x2880 @ 60 FPS for me with ~3 hours in now. Now obviously my PC is pretty fast, but from the CPU/GPU utilization it really doesn't seem bad.

I think there were crafting materials that were not accessible later on, and maybe you needed them to fully unlock all weapons and that was needed for something?
It's been a while, but there was something permanently missable in the Aerie.

Edit: checking, I think it was the eagle eggs that you can find here during the first part of the game, they're needed for some weapons upgrades.

In the NVIDIA control panel, what is the difference between V-Sync and Triple Buffering?

Honestly, there are a few serious issues with the game, but what works actually works pretty well.

Would I like 120hz? Sure, but the game plays at a solid framerate, hasn't crashed on me since I updated Special K and overall I actually think this could be an acceptable port if they put Vsync and a framerate cap in.
In the NVIDIA control panel, what is the difference between V-Sync and Triple Buffering?
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but triple buffering seems to make games smoother - I've read some people say it increases input lag (more frames in the buffer), but others say if you are struggling to hit framerates that match your monitor's refresh then it helps with input lag.

At least that's my basic understanding of it. I believe it works with Vsync and isn't an alternative. Try it and see if you like how the game plays compared to it off. Only way to tell, really.
