They know Borderlands 3 will be a tough sell, given how similar are the 3 previous games so they prefer to take the safest road to get money. It's the same mindset with some indie developers, given the option they go for the money even if that damages them in medium and long run.

Personally after playing the 2 first games I don't have any motivation to try the new Borderlands.
That pretty much echoes (sic) my experience with the series. Borderlands 2 was more than enough Borderlands for me.

Madoka was great. Never watched the movies though.

You guys need to watch Thunderbolt Fantasy, also written by Urobuchi.

Man the biggest pain with Hugo so far is managing his magic while also moving and attacking. I need to bind my magic to RT or something.

Edit: Actually, in that video... why didn't you just Bolt Crash near him to attack? Makes the whole fight much less of a pain, and you can get DPS in more often. Hell, as long as you're cautious you can deal damage when he's got his lances out, too.
Honeslty? I don't remember. Probably was playing it safe because ranged Fire magic is the go-to strategy for Nightmare Yunica.

In other news, thanks to Voidu's sweet 25% off coupon, I'm now a proud owner of Truberbrook. (y)

Yes, believe it or not, there are still awesome games being released on Steam or GOG every single day. ;)
It looks so goooood! Don't know why I totally dismissed it just by looking at the thumbnail but yeah it looks great. If I happen to have money around my birthday I think I will get it.

Ok, I'll allow Epic to keep all future Gearbox games, forever even, if they want them.
And I like Borderlands 1&2, they're good games to play in LAN co-op, but I had no intention of buying anything else from Gearbox, not after what we know they've done with Alien Colonial Marines.

I actually enjoyed both Borderlands (in coop and solo) but doubt they will be able to convert to a GaaS model without seriously hurting the game. Gearbox probably needs the money (it's been an while since the had a hit) and 2K is... well... 2K. That game relied way to much on the great amount of crazy random loot, and today you can't have players get all that without buying something first.

So in the end I will also not loose much with this deal, even if it is for several games. Unless of course, they decide to make something new with the Homeworld IP... then I will cry a little in my corner.

yeah, I expect them to be a lot cheeper year later, if not, I'll wait more, but if it's a game I really want, I'll buy it sooner or later.
Same, if they're not priced like if expect year old games to be I'll be waiting until they have a decent discount.

Sony had a say on that (probably)
possibly ... or maybe epic wasn't interested in Flower

but yeah - all the other Annapurna games announced so far are exclusive ... so we might as well assume all the future ones will be as well

imagine if they get Paradox as well ...
I feel pretty safe about Paradox considering they sell keys on literally every site I've ever bought from, and then some :p they also have a huge Steam workshop presence (plus outside modders even).

How much noise is the Phoenix Point deal going to make though? As far as I can see there were around 10,000 backers,...realistically how many do you think will ask for a refund? And how much awareness was there in the wider audience? It'll take the right straw to break the camel's back, and I don't think we've got there yet...(or maybe that should be reverse buckaroo.)
I refunded mine. All Linux backers (which is a small % I'm sure) will refund instead of waiting a year to play it I'm guessing. Most of the people backing it were probably "less casual" players who are more likely to care about things like storefronts and availability and the like.

Director of Publishing Strategy for Epic Games Store agrees that ”gamers are unpleasant aggressive assholes with hysteric requirements who should fuck off”.

No idea if this is legit or some sort of midsunderstanding. Edit: Sergey liked the quoted tweet, didn't quite get that at first. And he now removed the like. Too late, I say. Also not too surprising, fits perfectly.

Now you can say a lot of bad things about Microsoft and in the end they only want our money too but just compare how Phil Spencer communicates and behaves himself in public with the two goons Tim and Sergey. They care so little about us that they don't even bother to hide their disdain, we're cattle to them.
I've highlighted this point before, but the only industry I can think of that treats customers with as much disdain as game companies seem to is... telecoms maybe? And look at how well respected those companies are... they have to bribe legislators to create laws to prevent competition because they know they will lose if any actually get off the ground. Epic have to moneyhat publishers for exclusivity and free games because they know consumers would not bother buying on the Epic store otherwise. Telecoms have gotten away with their nonsense for the better part of a century and people are finally railing against them a bit, but there's also significant legal ground against those companies for stuff they've done and lies they've told and contracts they've breached. Epic, so far, is working within the law but basically following the same guidebook. Hopefully they don't get decades of "fuck you money" profits from it.

it will, yes

Only NEW games, older games, sans Journey, look to be EGS exclusive. I feel bad for the dev of HLD, I'd like to think they would've prefered to go multi-store on PC, but due to their publisher they can only release on EGS.
Wish them best of luck though.

yeah ... i wonder if all the devs they're publishing are happy about this bullshit

also - i wonder if they had any say in it ... probably not

And all their games will end up on my blacklist. HLD was still on my wistlist. Was. :)

Wait, they also took direct preorders too, and I think they claimed those alone were like $1 million.

Which would mean they were give almost $2 million.
when you think about it - egs is the perfect place for devs that don't care about making games people will actually play ;)

epic can just pay them for all the lost sales and everyone is happy ... the perfect arrangement

oh .... by the way:

That's fine. Ever since the first announcements, I've made sure to exclusively keep my wallet shut for all the games they published. :sneaky:

Speaking of which, something peculiar. I have Annapurna on my ignore list on Steam, so even if I search for one of their games, it appears faded with a white tag on it. Well, all except Flower. It shows up as if it isn't ignored, despite having the same publisher.
If I click on the publisher, all their titles and DLCs appear faded as well, again except Flower.
Weird.

Except for the 2001 version of Duke Nukem Forever, I want that one on Steam please.

Epic can have Quantic Dream as well. Hell, I might moneyhat them there myself
But I loved Heavy Rain 😢

i'm just trying to prepare everyone for the inevitable announcement

i know a lot of people were looking forward to that one ...
I honestly couldn't care less. I loved Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (I was crazy about Troika Games; Arcanum is my favourite RPG of all time, and Tim Cain is one of my favourite game developers), but let's be honest: the developer behind this game is no Troika Games, and the very brief clip that was previously leaked looks very unappealing, so I have no major expectations for it.

But, more importantly (because some people like them), if this is true it would mean Paradox is on board with Epic, something I honestly predicted.
All their recent efforts to have a modding platform outside of Steam workshop, and their comments to their shareholders not long ago about new channels, and new opportunities made me anticipate this to happen.

I'll see if I can find it.
Don't get your hopes up, it was very brief (like 2 seconds or less). It was on one of their fictitious websites related to that whole "Tender" ARG.
It was a character casting a blood spell or whatever, but it looked very unpolished.
