Man, I just can't get over how stupid that "A Ubisoft Original" slogan is.

It's not stupid, it's iconic!

What's wild is L4D is still king.

How can it still be king when Vermintide is better? [UWSL]:p[/UWSL]

Don't know why I'm bothering with this Ubisoft stream when it's obviously all going to be EGSclusive and at this point I'm mostly uninterested in their cookie cutter games.

I will scream if they announce a new Splinter Cell, though. I've been waiting for years...

remember when e3 was fun and not douchey techbros showing us crappy expansions to their boring games in office lobbies

I should really stop watching it, I have better things to do. Easy Allies are the only one keeping it interesting enough to not shut it off.

So far, RainbowSix4Dead looks the most interesting, but my god, do they have anything that isn't part of an existing line of games?
I'm all for the L4D genre resurrection, but jesus Ubisoft, drop the Tom Clancy and you'd have my interest. As is, not so much. Just call it Extraction, and bam, you have a new series.

Hello Meta, here's the Ubisoft Forward summary for those who missed the stream!

IpDAgCi.gif

But for real,
  • Some Multiplayer L4D game (R6 Extraction)
  • Some Subscription Service (Rocksmith+)
  • Some Multiplayer Extreme Sports Game (Riders Republic)
  • An update on an already existing game (Rainbow Six Siege)
  • An update on an already existing game (Ghost Recon)
  • Just Dance 2022
  • An update on an already existing game (AC Valhalla)
  • Some TV Show (Mythic Quest)
  • Some Movie (Werewolves Within)
  • Far Cry 6 Story Trailer + Season Pass
  • Mario + Rabbids 2
  • James Cameron's Avatar THE GAME.
I'm generally not this negative, but seriously, what a joke. I hardly have an interest in anything Ubi, and they keep showing me why that's the case. Bloody TV shows and movies at a freakin' game show. ??????????????????????

Rainbow 6 Siege cross progression is fantastic. Not enough games do this.
Apex will potentially add it at some point.

So with the N/S Pro and SteamPal and how they will be under $500 (which is how much a console cost)

Will we keep hearing about people wanting to wait to play it on portable? You see it all the time about how XYZ will be perfect for it.

Nothing like getting your maligned CEO show the 'surprise" game at the end.
edit: And it's fucking licensed Avatar sequel game.... jesus christ Ubisoft, go home.

The thing is, as much as I also hated the media segment... it was not the worst part of the show :anguished-face:
Worst timeline.

I'd play an avatar game if I can murder the blue aliens

going by the title alone - this thing is 100000% going to be some open-world division-type shooter bullshit (probably battle royale)

also $60 + yearly season passes + a crapload of "micro"transactions

just you watch

also, as a side note:

"available on LITERALLY EVERYTHING (but steam)"

:toucan:

i'm watching the EZA stream and I genuinely don't know how gaming journalists like themselves (I'm not picking on them specifically, just an example) can still muster excitement for stuff like Far Cry

I mean I got bored as piss by this stuff years ago, I couldn't imagine having to look at this stuff all the time as part of my job

bad timing for Ubi with the Avatar game.

Cameron releasing his film next year and its visuals will surely shit all over snowdrop engine. He probably spent billions making the sequels by now so it will be embarrassing lol.

Ubisoft conference was kind of meh for me as I'm not really interested in their latest products.

Vermintide 2 is very good, but it's not quite Left 4 Dead 2 good.

I've been playing L4D2 on and off with friends for over a decade now. We're always looking for the next great co-op game, but we've never found something quite like it. Another thing that makes it all the more difficult is that even if something does come around that is a better game, very few games have the community mod support that Left 4 Dead has. There are fantastic custom campaigns for years of play.

I am excited about Darktide though.

Oh yeah, another one.
2021, every fps was Doom 2016

When Vinny, Alex & Brad exited Giant Bomb I legit thought it was exactly this. A sort of career burnout.

Looking at how my own personal tastes have shifted wildly over the past few decades, I simply can't imagine being locked into covering mainstream gaming. It feels like it leaves no room for one's personal tastes to shift and evolve over time when you can rarely operate outside of the limited bounds pop-culture content.

And not only that, but also the churn of having to always be playing something new in order to have something fresh to say every week on podcasts. It sounds absolutely miserable and would suck all the joy out of the hobby if I were in their shoes.

Now obviously the guys went on to form Nextlander, so my original theory proved false. But it was an interesting thought exercise nonetheless. Most consider games-media coverage a dream job in a "just sit around all day playing games" kinda way. But to me it sounds more like a jail sentence.
