If anyone uses the Xbox DVR record function on pc, did they remove the option to trim the videos? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Updates on the ongoing Activision Blizzard situation:

To the Leaders of Activision Blizzard,

We, the undersigned, agree that the statements from Activision Blizzard, Inc. and their legal counsel regarding the DFEH lawsuit, as well as the subsequent internal statement from Frances Townsend, are abhorrent and insulting to all that we believe our company should stand for. To put it clearly and unequivocally, our values as employees are not accurately reflected in the words and actions of our leadership.

We believe these statements have damaged our ongoing quest for equality inside and outside of our industry. Categorizing the claims that have been made as “distorted, and in many cases false” creates a company atmosphere that disbelieves victims. It also casts doubt on our organizations’ ability to hold abusers accountable for their actions and foster a safe environment for victims to come forward in the future. These statements make it clear that our leadership is not putting our values first. Immediate corrections are needed from the highest level of our organization.
Our company executives have claimed that actions will be taken to protect us, but in the face of legal action -- and the troubling official responses that followed -- we no longer trust that our leaders will place employee safety above their own interests. To claim this is a “truly meritless and irresponsible lawsuit,” while seeing so many current and former employees speak out about their own experiences regarding harassment and abuse, is simply unacceptable.

We call for official statements that recognize the seriousness of these allegations and demonstrate compassion for victims of harassment and assault. We call on Frances Townsend to stand by her word to step down as Executive Sponsor of the ABK Employee Women’s Network as a result of the damaging nature of her statement. We call on the executive leadership team to work with us on new and meaningful efforts that ensure employees -- as well as our community -- have a safe place to speak out and come forward.

We stand with all our friends, teammates, and colleagues, as well as the members of our dedicated community, who have experienced mistreatment or harassment of any kind. We will not be silenced, we will not stand aside, and we will not give up until the company we love is a workplace we can all feel proud to be a part of again. We will be the change.

It would be if Deck had an OLED screen.
4:3 content on an IPS is pain, especially when played at night.
Agree that an OLED screen would have been really nice, but I don't think it's a real deal breaker. Things like the small screen size might make the backlight less apparent.
Kinda sad Valve couldn't include the OLED option in the more expensive version. Maybe a supply issue where having two different screens would made things too complex for them in manufacturing.

I discovered Cavia made some weird "Resident Evil" style Kamen Rider action-adventure game :blobread:

Gonna try playing it, unfortunately no English or fan translations :despairblobbos:

Will see if I can beat it, thankfully there is at least an English walkthrough

Heads up!
The Steam Android app seems to have received an updated GUI through a backend update.
The interface looks a lot more clean and better sized than earlier, and this without any app updates to my knowledge.

The update must have been pushed recently since I had the old design just an hour or so ago...

There's actually a small blurb at the top mentioning the change! Didn't see that earlier.

EDIT: Hey! And the mobile website changed as well!
Thanks! So it's the store itself. I'm now seeing that too. A little funkier on my end through.
I thought maybe the mobile app UI also got a facelift. Kind of a clunker sometimes.

Its true, now it works perfectly without cutting in half a banner or a game title. It fits the screen perfectly, its almost a relief

It's a lot of sensible changes in terms of mobile design, and it seems like there are no cutbacks to information. You lose the achievement icons and point shop item icons, but since it only showed couple of them previously anyway, it's not a big loss.
Theming is darker overall, especially at the top of the page because the old site had really light gradient there.
The franchise box actually scales to size when there's two lines of text. :peekphotoblob:

This change is live on the website and in the mobile app since the mobile app just displays web pages anyway. :)

Finished Shadow of the Tomb Raider. It's a mixed bag. I enjoyed exploring the environments and solving the puzzles in the tombs. When it comes to combat though, the game is mediocre. The gunplay is unsatisfying and melee is so terrible it's barely an option, which is an inconvenience because certain enemies just rush you until they're either dead or within melee range. This is particularly aggravating when you're limited to the bow which takes time to shoot. Combat feels like an afterthought but fortunately there's not much of it and stealth can be used in a lot of cases.
The writing isn't as terrible as in Rise but it's still bad.
And hearing about a rare animal only to go slay it to make a new outfit feels so weird for the character.
But I have fond memories of the locations you get to visit during the game, they make it worth experiencing.

My brother bought 13 sentinels so I tried it out today. Gorgeous game. Let's see if the story is as good as they say, the beginning couldn't be more filled with tropes if it tried.

I played it as a skyrim mod and even then it was great, good story.
IGN did an article from when it was a Skyrim mod till now.

Great interview. It is rare to see a game with law theme, probably because you can't write story like this without the knowledge. I can't buy the game until August, but I am very excited to play it.

I made a thread about it on Era, not gonna remake it here so I'll just link it - long story short, new California Energy requirements effective July 1st are probably going to kill a lot of prebuilt gaming PC sales in the state and others that are adopting the policies.

New California energy requirements might have an impact on buying prebuilt gaming PCs going forward | ResetEra
I only read a tiny bit (and understood even less :goodmorningblob:) , but I was trying to think of whether their definition of high expandability computer (listed below) would apply to some pre-built computers? If so, I am wondering if it only needs to follow section 6 (listed below) as long as it has a sleep mode built in and follows the increased certified PSU requirements in the later table v-9.

Not entirely sure of anything I wrote without doing more digging.

____
High expandability computer

means a computer with any of the following:

(1) An expandability score of more than 690;

(2) If the computer is manufactured before January 1, 2020, a power supply of 600 watts or greater and either:

(A) a first discrete GPU with a frame buffer bandwidth of 400 gigabytes per second (GB/s) or greater; or

(B) a total of 8 gigabytes or more of system memory with a bandwidth of 432 GB/s or more and an integrated GPU.

(3) If the computer is manufactured on or after January 1, 2020, a power supply of 600 watts or greater and either:

(A) a first discrete GPU with a frame buffer bandwidth of 600 gigabytes per second (GB/s) or greater; or

(B) a total of 8 gigabytes or more of system memory with a bandwidth of 632 GB/s or more and an integrated GPU.

____

(6) Small-scale servers, high expandability computers, mobile workstations, and workstations. Small-scale servers, high expandability computers, mobile workstations, and workstations manufactured on or after January 1, 2018, shall:

(A) Be powered by an internal power supply that meets or exceeds the standards in Table V-9, or an external power supply that meets the level VI of efficiency described in the International Efficiency Marking Protocol for External Power Supplies Version 3.0 (Sept. 2013);

(B) Incorporate Energy-Efficient Ethernet functionality;

(C) Transition connected displays into sleep mode within 15 minutes of user inactivity; and

(D) Transition the computer into either the computer sleep mode or computer off mode measured in Section 1604(v)(5) within 30 minutes of user inactivity. If the transition is to a computer sleep mode, that sleep mode shall either:

1. Be a computer sleep mode as described in ACPI as S3; or

2. Consume power less than or equal to the values shown in Table V-6.

EXCEPTION: to section 1605.3(v)(6)(6)(D): Small-scale servers and rack-mounted workstations are not required to comply with section 1605.3(v)(6)(D) of this Article.

Hmm. The definition for high expendability computer and a workstation really ought to be easier to find, it does appear to be a loophole, but it seems like manufacturers are still being cautious. The definition should really be hotlinked in the documents themselves...

Yeah, I had to Google it to see if had a general legal definition, only to find the document on Google search. I 100% agree, it really should have been defined/linked within that document.

That said, I am still not sure what an expandability score is? :confused-face:

Yeah I saw that too and that's my other concern. I can't find anything about it, and it seems like - in practice - the loophole might be tighter than it might actually have been intended to be.

Ok, yeah, these regulations are very poorly worded.

Expandability Score is simply the peak power draw if every component in a system was running at max power draw.

So 690 Expandability means 690w peak power draw.

Edit: how the hell do they define framebuffer bandwidth, they link to a document that supposedly calculates it, but it doesn't???

Does that included RGB lighting? :face-with-stuck-out-tongue-and-tightly-closed-eyes:

Seriously though, that is really poorly worded. It is also possibly poorly thought out if it means power hungry components get to skirt aspects of the law, unless I am misunderstanding?

No yeah it sounds like, if anything, it's the mid-range gaming PCs that will be impacted. Ironically enough, higher-end rigs with the higher power draw get to be classified as high expandability and only need to adhere to sleep mode bs. Machines that are powerful but not powerful enough to chug 690w+ of power don't make the cut, and they'll likely not meet the frame buffer requirement (which they don't actually properly define!)

Found out that when they said "frame buffer bandwidth", they just meant "memory bandwidth"... so let me get this straight. A 3070 ti or a Radeon VII would qualify for this, even if the full system doesn't hit 690+ watts, but a 6900xt system would not... because they chose "memory bandwidth* as a possible loophole?

The $500 MSRP card counts but the $1000 top-of-the-line card doesn't if overall power draw doesn't hit 690w at peak. This makes absolutely no sense!

The "upgrade legacy pack" only includes the dlc for Hitman 1. Only buy that if you already have Hitman 1.

The dearer one has all of Hitman 1 including the dlc. Buy that if you don't have any of Hitman 1.
This is so confusing damn. I checked the steam page and apparently the "Legacy Pack" is Hitman 1 Goty as a DLC for Hitman 2. Now If I buy Hitman 2 Gold and then buy the legacy pack, do both games show up in my library as standalone games? Or only Hitman 2 will show up in my library? I know is dumb I like having all my games show up individually in my library lol and I want to make sure.
