(on July 27) Clarifying the situation with the Steam release's age rating

In our previous update post earlier this month, we took the time to clarify some things regarding the intended age appropriateness of certain aspects of the game's content, with the most important point being that our intention was for Idol Manager's content to be consistent with what would receive a "Mature" rating from a ratings board like ESRB, who classifies "Mature" content as being "generally suitable for ages 17 and up."

It was not our intention to release Idol Manager as a game with content equivalent to ESRB "AO" (Adults Only) 18+ rating, and we tailored the game's content with this in mind, submitting a build to Steam that was intended to be consistent with what would receive a "Mature" 17+ rating from a ratings board like ESRB, which we believed would allow it to exist on the Steam storefront much in the same way that many AAA video games with this age rating are sold.

Unfortunately, it seems that Steam came to a different conclusion, and several days ago, Steam made the decision to classify our game as "Adults Only." We realize that this is problematic in several ways: first off, it greatly limits the visibility of our game in the Steam storefront, which very disappointing for us as creators. But even more important for our backers, having the game classified as "Adults Only" on Steam means that it is unavailable in certain regions, including China and Germany. :evilblob: (Steam region-blocks all "adult only" games in certain regions, which means that people in these regions are unable to even view the game's Steam page.)

In the days since this has happened, we have have done our utmost to comply with Steam's policies surrounding this, and our publisher has submitted the game to Steam for re-review. We're hopeful that once the review is complete, Steam will correctly re-classify our game's age rating.

Unfortunately, because this issue only came up last week, Steam's re-review of the game will not be finished until several days from now, meaning that for the moment, Steam continues to label the game as "Adults Only," preventing the game from being available in certain regions.

This certainly isn't how we wanted Idol Manager's launch day to go. Nonetheless, we're hopeful that this situation will be rectified within the next few days once Steam has had a chance to review the build we've submitted.

We will announce more information as soon as we are able to do so -- as the situation is still unfolding, we're unfortunately limited in the information we can share. As such, request of our backers that you please be patient with us as we work toward a solution. We'll share more details as soon as we can.

As a reminder, we have chosen to give both Steam and itch.io keys for Idol Manager to all Kickstarter backers. If you are in one of the regions affected by the game's Steam classification, we hope that you are still able to play and enjoy the game, even if it isn't on your preferred platform for now.

Activision Blizzard employees are holding a formal walkout Wednesday, July 28, calling on leadership to improve conditions for women, particularly women of color, transgender women, nonbinary people, and other marginalized groups.

The protest event, formally known as the Activision Blizzard Walkout for Equality, will be held tomorrow virtually from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. PT, with a live event staged at the Blizzard campus in Irvine, California from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Employees unable to attend in person are asked to stop their work during these times and signal boost via social media using the hashtag #ActiBlizzWalkout. Turnout is expected to be about 50 or more in person, with many more joining virtually for the sake of covid-19 safety.

been playing Strategic command the last 2 weeks

It's really fun, it is a simpler Hearts of Iron with a Panzer General type of gameplay.
The unique thing is, that you play ALL nations of either the Axis or the Allies (and the USSSR counts as Allies, sadly)
It is heavily battle focused (like Panzer General)
with
no economic development at all
bare-bones technology system (you research basic technology like fighters or tanks and if applied to a unit on the field or in the production menu, they will get upgraded to the new type)
bare-bones diplomacy system, you have a certain amount of diplomacy chits you can use to influence another nation (with a 5% chance every turn, or 28 days) If a nation is at 99% they will declare war at the next turn. Influencing the Mobilization of the USSR or US is not worth it, you maybe get 2 or 3 events where their mobilizations gets down for a few percent but the entry in the war seems hardcoded, the USSSR always declares war in the winter of 41/42 and the US always declares war in January to march 42. You can be at 60% mobilization in summer 41 and think you can build up into spring, but the US and USSR get 10 to 15% mobilization per turn at some point. Any diplomatic work you put into those two nations wouldn't bar them from the war for a month.

The basic game is turn-based, the Axis has the first turn and does all their stuff, 14 days happen and the allies get their turn and 14 days, so you can only do decisions every 28 days, which can be quite challenging to meet historical start dates.

But I have fun and played 80 hours already.

Finished Iceborne expansion for MH World. A fantastic expansion with a ton of content. Very much looking forward to Rise next year, playing MH World in 60 fps+ made me realize I can't buy it for my Switch.

It's also gonna be great to free up 98 gb on my hdd. World takes up a lot of space.

I'm always happy to see another Zelda-inspired action/adventure game, but it's hard for me to get too excited about one whose developers can't even bother to punctuate or capitalize the title correctly on its own Steam page. oh well, fingers crossed
It’s interesting how the environments in this look fantastic and richly detailed, but the character models look like they’re from a 3DS game.

I recall some hubbub around this game’s early footage, which featured assets containing art ripped from anime backgrounds, including Spirited Away iirc. Wonder if they did something about that.

The style looks very much like Ghibli movies :)

Not sure what this is, maybe free beta for s&box by Garry Newman:

Currently, no key. Do not try now.
The open beta starts next week.
S&box developer Garry Newman announced the availability of beta keys for the game yesterday via Discord. Rather than giving you a Steam key, the beta will rely on an external site that will verify your Steam account based on your ID. This means the devs have absolute control over who's authorized to access the beta, so if anyone does something untoward, their access can be revoked immediately. When the beta does become available, all you'll need to do is head over to the official S&box website to gain access.

I just bought it, and it seems very well made so far. Surprisingly so.
3 hours later: my budding idol agency almost went bankrupt, then it was saved by a hugely successful return single. Then I expanded too quickly, hired a lot of idols and staff without sufficient profit centers, my top idol was embroiled in a gacha scandal and then had an accident due to exhaustion, and I actually went bankrupt. A+, will play again.

But seriously this is a much more difficult and involved management sim than I would have ever expected from the title.

First part of the tweet is not surprising as EGS is not Linux compatible, second part of the tweet is both good and bad, good because Proton keeps improving but bad because this leads into less native Linux versions from time to time. Interesting tweet, to be honest but at the same time I don't understsand why they are "throwing"proton in front of the bus like that when it's probably going to lead into more Linux adoption.

Had a random World of tanks recommendation in my yt feed and checked it out (haven't played for years, but Quickybaby was always great with his videos)

oh boy. Crew 2.0 sounds horrible. Having to play thousands of games in a single vehicle to get your crew to (normal) max level and ten times that to get it to max max level (with the 15% bonus to all skills)
OR you can cough up $1900 bucks for max maxing up the crew of one vehicle. (you can convert free experience from gold, and you can buy gold with real money)

Because Feral Interactive makes money by porting games, including producing ports to Linux. Less demand for ports means less money for them. I get why they'd frame it like this.

I get it too but I don't know, I just see it weird that instead of trying to talk with their partners showing the potential of Linux thanks to Proton as a bridge, they go this route.

I finished Kamen Rider: Seigi no Keifu.

Even if I knew Japanese, this might be one of the most confusing game I've ever played. The only text walkthrough I found was pretty old, and it wasn't 100% clear at times. There were quite a few times I was getting a terrible headache from trying to figure out how to correctly progress.
:birbangry:

It's a time travel game, and you have swap between 4 different Riders in different years. You are constantly swapping between them, solving puzzles and unlocking doors so the other riders can progress. I kept losing track of what Rider was where, locking them in rooms because of something I did 30 minutes ago - I would change characters and then only realize that said rider was stuck. I was going mad. It's a really neat concept, but I was losing my temper a few times.

Cool game tho.

I'm angery

I'm no longer angery
FWIW Gamesplanet's US site was the cheapest for me (with code TGAC10) and the key was instantly available.
Just started the game and it seems to be locked at 30fps :huhblob:
Not the end of the world but still sucks.

I had an extra discount code + pre-order discount so I got it for like -25% off

Yes, it's sorta intended since it's an anonymous giveaway. I can add it to the list, though.
Oh, that's not necessary. I just refer to the list every morning to see if I have missed anything, and notice that the anonymous are not there. Thanks!

Always love reading these threads. Thank you for the updates. :cat-heart-blob:

Not sure about the trailer thread but I think these separate threads are good enough.

After finishing Venetica, I'm in the mood for another middling jank from 360 era.
Thinking about playing Hydrophobia: Prophecy. 🌊
I liked that, too! Played through it a couple years ago. Janky but enjoyable!

Edit: Totalbiscuit covered the game back in the day, too.
