Death Trash

Death Trash features a world where cosmic horrors long for humanity but meet punks with shotguns. Influenced by post-apocalyptic, horror, and cyberpunk classics but with a fresh personality of its own. Death Trash combines the crunch and depth of old-school, role-playing classics with the controls and game feel of modern games.

Death Trash is an open-world, singleplayer role-playing game with handcrafted levels, a strong story campaign and optional local co-op gameplay.

The game features real-time gameplay with ranged and melee combat, stealth, multiple choice dialogue, an inventory of items and worms, a crafting system, and skills like pickpocketing and puking.

Travel through a gritty, post-apocalyptic wasteland by world map and explore hand-painted, organic locations. Meet exciting characters, talk to the Fleshkraken, visit the Puke Bar, or descend into old temples in search of expanding your awareness.

Humans traveled to the stars and some of them settled on the planet Nexus with its ancient secrets of stone and flesh. But secrets were unearthed, and the civilized people had to flee into enclosed habitats. The wasteland is reigned now by outcasts, controlling machines, and offsprings of the worm.

You are one of the outcasts, pushed outside with a dangerous burden to carry, and your path will take you through deserts, ruins, the underground, and beyond.

Level up Otto and develop a dynamic team across a vast and customizable party progression system. All the while, explore the vast Dodgeball Academia and uncover the long hidden truths that reside within the very walls you live, learn, and dominate in.

City of Gangsters

Start a crime syndicate from nothing, and grow it into a well-oiled money machine. Build speakeasies and illegal distilleries. Manage production chains and resource distribution. Smuggle goods from out of town and bribe the police to look the other way. Grow a powerful crew and keep your rivals under your thumb. Eliminate competition and rule the city. But most importantly, keep the money flowing.

The year is 1920, the start of Prohibition in the USA. With congressional action, a huge segment of the national economy becomes illegal overnight: bars and saloons are ordered to close, distilleries and breweries go quiet, distributors shut down. But a new era is dawning: a gilded age for smugglers, black markets, illegal manufacture, and organized crime.

This is where you come in. You’re a new arrival in the city at the dawn of Prohibition, with ambitions of striking it big. Behind many of the city’s facades, people are building makeshift distilleries, secret loading docks, nighttime speakeasies. Work your way into this network, and the world will be yours.

But think beyond making a quick buck or two. You gotta be thinking ahead. You gotta be thinking bigger. Much bigger.

Get started in the booze biz by hocking some homemade hooch. Start your own stills, and find raw materials to supply them. Learn new techniques to make expensive drinks, or smuggle imported booze to fuel your growing operation. Soon you’ll be supplying entire neighborhoods, and opening your own swinging speakeasies.

On the black market, social currency matters as much as the greenback. With cops and feds sniffing around, trust is everything and personal introductions are worth their weight in gold. So work your connections to find profitable new friends, and get people who owe you favors to put in a good word.

You will need plenty of hands to open new fronts, do delivery runs, and protect your product from envious rivals. Your outfit’s ambitions are only limited by the number of people working for you. Keep them paid, armed, and organized, and who knows how far and how fast you’ll rise.

But proceed carefully, because everyone is always observing what you’re doing, and family members stick up for each other. Whether you send your people to harass someone, or to help them, you can be sure they’ll remember it down the line.

As your outfit grows, convince locals that your goods and theirs will be looked after. Territory under your control will provide a safety net, an income base, and a wealth of opportunities for further growth and expansion.

You’ve grabbed the opportunity by the horns, and the city is yours for the taking. But you only have a few years to make your mark on history, to build the largest, most profitable crime syndicate, take over your competition, and rule the entire city. Because after 1933, it will be all over, alcohol will be legal again. And doing business fair and square, well, everybody knows that’s not where the real money is.

Patron

Patron builds upon the foundations laid out by the staples of the survival city builder genre and enhances the experience with a large research tree and by introducing intricate social dynamics into the game and the genre in general. Happiness, the standard simple feature of all such games, in the case of Patron is a complete gameplay system in its own right.

Patron starts off similarly to other games in the genre, but then veers off exploring social intricacies and what it means to truly run a society and not just a city filled with automatons.

Each individual citizen in the town has his needs, desires and issues troubling him or making him happy. Some citizens are more concerned with immigration, while others are more aggravated by tax-related issues. If the citizen’s view on the subject is in line with what the town government (YOU, the player) is doing, he’ll be happy. Works the other way around as well.

To make the best of the opportunities in this new land, you will need to construct residential houses, farms, production plants, manufacturing buildings and dozens of other buildings needed to harvest the riches of the land.

Every decision you make as Patron will be met with different reactions from different social groups. You'll need real political talent to balance sensitive matters as religion, immigration, loyalty, poverty... Whatever you choose to do can lead to unforeseen consequences years later.

Managing your tasks and citizens in a timely and efficient manner allows you to prepare and adapt to external variables like harsh weather or different seasons.

The world is changing and you must make sure you're advancing at the proper pace. Only by constant advancing and research will your society be able to stand the test of time.

No matter what you do, unexpected tragedies can always strike your people. They will look to you for protection and help.

People also need external signs of their success. Build and arrange numerous beautification elements of your city, and make sure everyone is rewarded for their hard work.

ICARUS

Endure a savage alien wilderness on Icarus, humanity’s greatest mistake. Survive its brutal environment as you explore, harvest, craft and hunt while seeking your fortune.

From their orbital station, prospectors drop to the planet surface for limited time sessions, where they learn to endure the alien environment, complete faction missions and search for valuable exotic materials. Those that survive return to orbit as seasoned veterans, converting their exotics into advanced technology, and taking on ever more challenging drops with newfound knowledge. Those that get left behind... are lost forever.

Icarus was once destined to be a second Earth, but when terraforming collapsed - the air turned toxic and humanity’s hopes of colonizing a new world died. Icarus became a joke, a symbol of humanity reaching for the stars and failing. Yet when xeno-biologists discovered the cause of the failure - exotic matter - new interest was ignited. Valuable beyond reckoning, these ‘exotics’ sparked a gold rush, fueling political tensions on Earth, and bringing prospectors flocking to Icarus.

From toxic atmosphere to savage wildlife and game-altering weather events, Icarus is a planet with a temper. Preparation and planning are everything, whether it’s to find a source of oxygen, stalk your next meal or stock supplies for a long journey into the wilderness.

The First Cohort of prospectors has been granted initial mining licenses for over 64 square kilometers of hand-crafted terrain full of hidden corners and resources to mine and diverse biomes to explore. Use the resources around you to survive - every single tree is harvestable, every rock can be voxel mined.

Use the planet’s resources to craft tools, structures and machinery to protect yourself and aid your mission. Develop unique skills and improve core talents as you gain experience on the planet's surface. Then return to orbit with rare exotic materials that you can engineer into advanced tech. Choose which skills to develop and which tech to take on your next drop so you can complete missions faster, travel further, automate production or improve your odds of survival. Every decision matters.

The orbital space station waits for no one. If you fail to return to your dropship in time, there is no rescue. Your character’s progress and tech is lost to planet Icarus. Choose between sessions that can last from hours to days to weeks. Or play on the side of caution and build a permanent outpost. Every drop has a clear goal, but how you overcome its challenges... is up to you.

Learn the intricacies of the atmosphere, challenge yourself to face new threats and push yourself beyond the comfort zone. The cautious survive, the bold will thrive. New talents, new tech and new exotics are available to those who dare risk it all. Will you face Icarus head on?

Love the title this month, and another great OP with a lot of great games I'll have to ignore since I barely have enough time keep up with my current backlog.
Definitely going to play Psychonauts 2 when it comes out, though.

Another month, another great thread... thanks lashman !!!

Several interesting games this month. The big one for me is Psychonauts 2. It's going to make me use that damn xbox app (free gamepass vs terrible regional price) so I hope I don't have the reinstall my Windows after playing it.

Also, just started Nier Replicant. So far port is...... better ... than Automata but the 58-59 fps cap is weird. Going to try Special K. Meanwhile the music is already telling me to prepare myself ... 😢

Wtf dude, this month is stacked to the roof! Had no idea Icarus was releasing so soon either.

Also looking forward to The Plane Effect and Recompile:

I mean, not that I'll actually have time to play any of these within the foreseeable future but I'll put them on the wishlist

They did an update and you get into "beta weekends" which is uh... yeah...

Its changing from early access which is already kind of ass to earlier access.
i don't check those :negative-blob: i just check the releases on the "upcoming games" list

I found out about because people like to still dunk on Deal hall because of DayZ (Even though he had a contract and his contract ended) and yet again brought that up while I was looking stuff up because I still check if DayZ has anything to do with zombies, they're still about as challenging as a human encountering this:

(Also your thread is good, I guess, whatever)

Thank you lashman for the thread! I am busy with watching Olympics lately, but nothing can stop me from logging into MC instead of playing games! ;)

So many great-looking games this month. I will get Dreamscaper when the full release is available. The animations are crazy good. It also has an interesting progression system by separating the exploration and combat section into daytime and nighttime (in dreams). Very excited to play it soon.

Awesome OP, lashman!

City of Gangsters countdown officially begins.

Had Tölva on my Wishlist for so long that I kinda forgot it was even there. Then I saw that it was $1 on Fanatical.

Really enjoying it so far..

It the definition of AA. Workmanlike mechanics with ideas that elevate it to greatness.

Atmosphere & story are on point. Likely the biggest pull. Open-world progression & discovery are satisfying. Plot beats are intriguing so far, it's up to the player to discover data bits. I always respect that design choice.

Gunplay is a little stiff but completely serviceable. Weapon & mod upgrades take it from good enough to engaging.

Fucking water, how does it work!?

Btw zombies can fuck you up pretty good if you're unarmed and bleeding and don't know how to bandage. True story.

Thanks for the thread lashman.

Wowzah, August already! I return to work from leave middle of this month, which is no good. However, we are still working from home for sometime, which helps a little.

I think I should slow down video game purchases soon (notice not immediately :goodmorningblob:) and just work through some titles I picked up recently. July and August have been stacked for smaller releases.

I played the Dreamscaper prologue thingy when that came out and really enjoyed it. I promptly bought the game shortly after release. Anddddd haven't played it yet. SOON

Thank you for creating the thread lashman.

I'm still thinking about what game to buy this month. Dodgeball Academia might be one of them, maybe Humankind but I might see how much they will ask for the standard edition. There is Here Comes Niko, The Ramp, Haven Park (this one has some A Short Hike vibes). Goddamn there are too many games releasing in August.
