For the longest time, my rarest achievement was for getting a 25 kill streak in one of those Monday Night Combat games and I'm pretty sure it was glitched because I played that game like once and I seriously doubt I earned it. It somehow went up to 3% at some point, though, so now my rarest is one I'm actually proud of.

Otherwise, my rarest achievements showcase is mostly from indies that barely anyone played like Steamworld Heist, Joe Danger and OlliOlli. Although I see now there's a few from Shovel Knight in there.

edit: oh yeah, I actually have a recording of the run that earned me the achievement!

Finally finished Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. I started playing the game in bed over the weekend and got too comfy and fell asleep multiple times. I can see why they bundled the two games together. I felt the GAA1 was a bit weak and the overall pacing was a bit slow compared to GAA2. GAA overall felt like a breath of fresh air especially when compared to AA5/6 since I felt like they were juggling too many characters.

OST is amazing and I'm listening to it while I work. There are so many tracks that I love from the game especially the tracks made for GAA2-5 but maybe that's because of final case hype.

My rarest Steam achievement is 0.7%, for owning Tabletop Simulator in Early Access.

And that's good, because it's the kind of achievement that can only get more rare with time.

Edit: Second rarest is for playing Divinity Original Sin 2 as Ifan and forgiving Lucian.
Only 1% of players have forgiveness in their hearts.

...I need to know what these developers smoke
A scientific experiment gone wrong has left Maxwell Atoms' DNA fused with that of a bear, giving him strange new powers and abilities!

The finesse of a BLACK BEAR - Traverse the world with speed and agility
The power of a GRIZZLY BEAR - Rip and claw your way through barriers and puzzles
The sense of a SUN BEAR - Engage your powerful bear smell and sniff out items and secrets
The stomach of a PANDA BEAR - Consume honey to unleash the beast within!

Find elusive honey pots on your journey to power up, transforming completely into a bear! This unlocks a new set of skills and a new way to engage those who stand in your way. Strike fast with paws of fury and channel the ancient art of Bear Fu or unshackle your rage and swipe with the intense power of a bear.

Backstory of this photo:
Newell told Kotaku at Gamescom that Valve's first public protest by a couple of "very nice" Canadians ended peacefully, even though the cops showed up.
🤭
"We asked them how many sodas they had," Newell said. "They only had two, so we sent them some sodas and some pizza." The group also got a tour of Valve's offices and some hands-on time with Dota 2. "We needed people to test," he explained.
...
"They stayed for two days. We miss them."
😄

I have had 4G/LTE from employer many years. Speed is variable so not the best but at least it's free. :p

Played some Cepheus Protocol yesterday. Very good game, thought not without problems. Pathfiding is really bad and units get stuck in objects all the time (especially in dense areas) or outright refuse to move if you tell them to move to a location far away, so a lot of micro is required to handhold your units. That's probably the only thing I've encountered that's truly annoying, the rest was just some minor lack of polish and QOL. The content planned is great too and I like how they allow for various roleplay in regard to containment, like setting rules of engagement to target civilians that leave homes on sight as to prevent spread of the virus. Highly recommended, was in the last Humble Monthly, so some people here probably have it. One of the most fun sandbox RTS I've played.

Here's my initial setup from the last game I've played. Secured all the islands that are easy to block due to single entrances, which in turn allowed me to capture a lot of zones for income easily. I ended up winning/losing the game, as the main character (Captain Winter) and Patient Zero killed each other. Here's my screen at the end of the game lol.

How about you guys? What's the price and speed you get for your internet?

Recent upgrade as well. Was getting 150 down 10 up (equivalent of 60$) from my last provider, switched over to a new one and get 200-250 down, 305 up for 70$. Huge improvement, NAT isnt strict now too.

Edit: This is in the Philippines. Internet is pricy here, but thankfully data caps arent a thing. The last ISP that tried a soft cap (download speed gets crippled after exceeding a certain monthly limit) got crucified, so the market let 'em know whats up.

I wish I could get substantially more upstream bandwidth at a reasonable price.
I don't really mind the downstream, even 1 Gbit wouldn't really make a substantial difference for most of my use cases.

Poland has a solid internet infrastructure. I recently got a fiber connection of 500/50 for 20€. Before that, I paid 15€ for 10/1 since I live in suburbs.
Could have gone with 1 Gbit for about 30€ but that speed reaches the point of diminishing return. 500 Mbit is enough for 1 person because big games download in about 15 minutes anyway.

What makes achievements rare? There are several reasons. I list some of them that came to my mind
  • DLC achievements - DLCs that are released after a games releases adds achievements to the game. Many don't buy these dlcs because they have played the base game and felt satisfied and don't want to return to the game
  • Multiplayer Achievements on single player games - Not many play multiplayer mode in single player games, such as Batman Arkham series or Tomb Raider series
  • Post game updates - Games that are updated with free "dlc" updates sometimes add achievements. Same as the first bullet point as why these achievements are rare. Shovel Knight is one game that has post game updates and that very few return to
  • Ultra hard/Grinding achievements - Some games just want to punish players to grind for these achievements. Most players just go to another when they finish the games.
  • Broken achievements - Lazy devs that don't bother to fix the games. The original Darksiders had a bug that sometimes unlock achievements. But some games have really broken achievements that cannot be unlocked
  • Retired achievements - It's mostly games with multiplayer mode, Batman Arkham Origins is an example.
  • Fighting games achievements - These are impossible to unlock, win x amount of matches to unlock. If you start playing a fighting game later then there are only good players left to fight against, and you suck. I suck

It's kind of sad how little Austria invests in key infrastructure like this. 1 Gbit symmetric speeds should easily be possible with modern infrastructure, yet no one cares. Even the investment programs of the government feel like a grift, where billions are spent on cellular networks (essentially subsidizing giant telecommunication companies) or on upgrades to positively ancient DSL network.

And that's not even mentioning the infrastructure wasteland that is rural Austria, where even getting over 100 Mbit is a pipe dream in 2021.

220Mbps Down and 21Mbps Up. Don't know what the broadband charge is as it's bundled in with our stupid expensive TV Package due to having a sports fan in the house. It's not too bad and i can piss off my housemates with my Wireless AC connection sucking ALL the bandwidth if i don't throttle my downloads, which is nice.

Are there DLC worth buying ?
Just new cars. Have a look at what's in the car pass and if it appeals to you. There were only a few cars in it that I liked, and the game already comes with like 700 cars, so it didn't seem worth paying twice the base game's price. I did get the version with the VIP pass, which is basically a 2x income booster. Not really necessary turns out, but it did allow me to be a little less selective with car purchases in-game so I'm not too broken up about it.

Re: the game in general, I've played a lot of FM7 the last few weeks and I quite like it. The gameplay gets a bit samey after a while, but it's fun racing and for a more simmy racer it's relatively approachable with all its difficulty tuning options. I started off with most assists on and AI on the easier setting, but as I played more and got a better feeling for its driving model, I was able to steadily turn stuff off and make AI more challenging. So that's nice. Track variety is pretty good, but for some reason certain tracks barely appear in the campaign while others are constantly repeated. Maybe it's just a factor of the racing series that I've been picking...

Almost all my rare achievements come from the Sega Mega Drive classics, those games where available for years before they updated it to include achievements and I would assume most early owners never went back.

Oh, that's another one why achievements are rare:

Post-achievements - Games that got achievements added after a game's release
