Unsighted didn't have much visibility leading up to the release. I'm not sure if Humble did what they were supposed to. Then it released in an incredibly crowded month. It felt like there were 5 or so games released on GP every week.

Unfortunately, it looks like it got absolutely no mainstream reviews. That's really unfortunate. I can't blame them for attempting to drum up interest in any way they can.

It seems Gamebillet is doing pricematches a lot lately which is good in my opinion or either aggresively discounting the same games that are featured on other stores.
I can't recall any other third party site doing this since Amazon's Tony old good times.

FALLOUT 4 -80% €3.98 - Go for Goty unless you are in a budget. - New updated historical low
FALLOUT 4: GAME OF THE YEAR EDITION - 80% - €7.99 - Better deal - New updated historical low

Game Pass doesn't automatically give games an audience, people only have 24 hours in a day and have to choose more carefully what to play.

And since the game is PC only, maybe there aren't that many PC game pass users? I fully expect the vast majority of game pass users to be on console.

Not sure, but in the tweet they are talking about big gaming media. So it might as well have players.
A problem with the console ecosystems is lack of discussion platform, there's isn't really any place where Xbox game pass users can talk about the games they play, like with EGS on PC.

And game discovery need to be better on consoles. I keep hearing stories about how bad indies sell on consoles, Switch used to to good during the first years, kept reading success stories about indies on Switch, but none the last 2 years. So I think the lack of sales for indies, how difficulty it is for indies to put their games on consoles, difficulty to put games already published on consoles on sale and the strict rules hurts indies. I mean, there's been tons of talk, especially on Twitter, how much indie devs hate dealing with consoles and that's why a lot of indies never makes it way to consoles, both due to difficulty putting games on consoles and lack of sales.

Nintendo is the one I've heard is easiest to release a game on, but game discovery is really bad.

Well... each Gamepass game I play has a small but significant chance of fucking my Windows install. So even though I haven't payed for it can could be playing all the games for "free", I still only use for games that have no chance of me buying them in the next year so, such as very expensive ones over here.

Unsighted ended up on my very big "will buy when it's a little cheaper" pile. It looks good, but nothing about it made it jump to the "must play now" category.

But even Sable, which had a lot more hype and coverage (and has a very unique look and feel), has only about 600 reviews on Steam. It did have serious techinical problems but still is "Very Positive"

There have been so many releases. I thought we would hit a slow down, but it has only sped up. It feels like anymore there are 1-3 releases a day that are on my wishlist and that is ignoring prior releases going on sale/updated/etc. I have bought too many games and have barely scratched the surface. I do feel for folks feeling like their games have been ignored, I just do not know the answer. :notlikethisblob:

I tried the Fuser demo out of curiosity and I have to say it is cooler than I thought it would be. I think the game lacked coverage as it dropped right around the time DMCA claims started taking a bite out of Twitch. Folks were avoiding any chance of getting a strike. This is the exact sort of game that would have had better success with streamers and whatnot showing it off.

Problem for me is that there are sooooooo many incredibly good games being released all the time alongside the ever expanding backlog. Right now checking my Steam wishlist there are about 15 games on it on sale, all around £10. Even if i had heard of Unsighted (which i only now know about thanks to this thread) i just am drowning in games games games and so onto the wishlist it goes to pick up at some point in the future.

A game has to be something very special or catch me in a real impulse mood for me to buy it at launch.

That's also why game pass doesnt' work me. I don't have much time to play games now that I work full time, so I have to be really picky and cautious with my time, so Im not interested in using a sub service to decide what to play. Buying games let's me decide when I wanna play what I wanna play and that gives me a peace of mind.

What are those great games releasing these days ? I find the release calendar a little on the boring side, although I'm not an AAA or bust gamer. So fire up the recommendations, I'm all hears.

This is not a trap question, this is not a 'ah ah those people have no taste', this is a 'I'm bored out of my mind and need my fix'.

Unsighted has gotten what feels like a decent bit of coverage, most of it quite positive, from the gaming media I follow, but maybe that's not a representative sample. There was a pretty big glut of game releases in September, though, which probably didn't help

I think the only game I want from this month is John Wick Hex and even then "want" is a strong word, I am curious about it but not high on my list. Katana Zero is great but I played it ages ago.
I guess Black Future '88 might be up my alley too but yea, definitely not worth it for me.

And again Fallout 4 historical low on Steam store (only)

If you have Gabenbucks and want it, well there it is.

Also 76 but I have no clue on the quality of the game.

I never get these mails. Do you have to subscribe to their mailing list to get these offers?
I would think so.

I really liked some aspects of Fallout 4 but in the end it just felt like trash collecting simulator. The inventory is also atrocious unless you mod it.

You have been classified as "the guy who pauses when there is no discount, and who purchases the bundle when offered a $4-$6 discount".

Good job! You will be getting discounts all the time! :toucan:

I don't see anything in BF2042 that would hint it is inspired by Apex Legends apart from the atrocious Specialists system. Apex has great level design, fantastic movement, and top-tier gunplay - and BF is not great in those departments. If anything, it almost plays like CoD Modern Warfare. But yeah, if it indeed started as a Battleroyale game, then we live in a sad timeline.

nature of the indie scene I'm afraid now; even being great isn't enough to stand out on its own and its been this way for years now.

PS: actually, personally that's actually why I find indie showcases a waste of time; a parade of 2 mins trailers means nothing when the scene is so damn stacked

PPS: a great anecdotal example from me, that I think encapsulates the change in the indie scene over the years.
I LOVE To The Moon it's one of my fave indie games and I'm replaying that series just now before tucking into the new one.

Now that game came out in 2011 and was seemingly everywhere at the time and was discussed on forums etc for quite a while post launch in recommendations and such.
The sequel Finding Paradise came in 2017 and discussion came and went much more quickly but it still had its moment in the sun with PC Gamer articles and the like on launch.
Now in 2021 you'd be forgiven for not knowing the 3rd installment had even existed let alone had been released; it hasn't even got a wikipedia page unlike the other two!
And I'm not even going to mention the name of it to prove the point that most probably don't know it...
