Uh so if Valve maintains the "no NFT" rule, does this mean Stalker 2 is about to get kicked off Steam?
I think Valve was just spooked by the gambling stuff with CSGO. When the FBI and Lawyers got involved they had to take action. I think now Valve is scared that there is even less liability with blockchain stuff. Like Ubisoft posting that disclaimer that they are not responsible for people getting scammed. So a lot of legal bullshit can fall down on companies like Valve for selling/hosting games.

Sue me, from the yakuza games I’ve played I have just stuck to the main story

Definitely give it a go
Try it. I clocked around 50 hours in Yakuza 0 doing some side activities, it's doable to finish the game in one month.
But I only have until the 31st of this month, so two weeks. I don't want to either stress through it nor dedicate all my time to it. I do have it on Steam so might wait till I get the deck and then play it.

I wonder if this still holds up, or is it better left as a fond memory?
I replayed it last year on PS2 with a friend and yeah, it didn't age well. I would recommend it only if you played it before and you know what you're getting into.

Downunder.
A new SaGa game is in the works. :flare_bath:

I said it before, but SaGa is probably the only Squeenix franchise still worth buying.

I imagine the big reason Valve cares about NFTs is they're in some ways similar to the Steam marketplace and they want devs and publishers to use Steam Marketplace since they get a cut of any transaction.
Another difference is that, it would make much easier that Steam Wallet has real world value and that Valve itself allows that to happen.
Which is probably something Valve would want to avoid, as that is their defense why lootboxes are not gambling.

(Though I'm sure Valve would like to get cut :p )

Gsync is such a gamechanger that when it doesn't work no one even notices.
Depends on the game really.
I rarely notice it if it disables itself and I'm playing VNs.
But the second I start anything 3D, it's extremely noticable.

I thought we had a board games thread but I guess not.

Anyone have any suggestions for some easy to learn, fun to play, with reasonable skill requirements/skill ceiling tabletop games? Something you'd play with older folks, not so kiddy, not too taxing on older brains either and not boring like chess (or I guess Scrabble or Monopoly).

I was thinking something like Settlers of Catan or Risk but maybe there's cooler stuff around, also maybe not so warlike theme to make it viable for the whole fam to play together. Gonna have to see if whatever you suggest is available locally and fully translated etc. too so probably not some niche or super new thing.

It looks like they have Wingspan already but it is pricy. At the moment I'm thinking Carcassonne 20th Anniversary & some Wizard thing for some simpler quicker fun (or is there something else instead of this, also called Fantasy Wizard, google for that + board game and it'll show, it only has cards and a score board).
And as ExistentialThought pointed out, there's another version of the game simply called 7 Wonders, which is a four-player version. I've never played it, so I can't really speak to how the dynamic changes there.
Parks was the first game that jumped to my mind, it's very pretty, not too many mechanics but allows a lot of strategizing, and conflict is minimal to none. The expansion is really nice too but it does add a layer of complexity.

7 Wonders is the "o.g." version, it has a 2-player "mode" but it's intended for 3-7 (or more, with expansions) players. It's pretty fast even with max players IF everyone knows the rules because everyone takes their turn and does their thinking at the same time. It's my favorite board game (so far) and I always try to make people play it, the base game is pretty good but I definitely recommend Leaders expansion as it adds a lot of dynamics with a very simple addition. 7 Wonders Duel is fun but it's a quite different gameplay compared to the other 7 Wonders. There is ANOTHER 7 Wonders variant that came out recently called 7 Wonders Architect that I haven't tried yet but might be good for this.

Most of my friends / family liked Photosynthesis a lot, I thought it was fine but not one I'd play all the time, it is pretty though, and novel.

I haven't played it myself but Everdell looks like a good one to fit the bill too.

All that said - I think Catan holds up. Most people I know that don't want to play it are just over it because it's been around forever and people have played it a ton. It's a very solid game (despite the absolute curse it has towards me never getting any rolls) and pretty easy to understand.

Thanks everyone for the board game stuff. Ticket to Ride and others I hadn't seen (that like Parks sadly don't seem to have Greek versions) look really cool. It seems like the best bet that works for 2 as well as 3+ players is Carcassonne? Any objections to that? Some warning or some other thing you wanna totally GUSH about instead? I'd probably get the 20th Anniversary Edition which is priced well, around 30, and comes with some mini expansion stuff like Rivers whatever that means. I'm reading both Catan and Ticket to Ride aren't as good with less than 3 players (but some pairs do seem to love it still, I have no clue). 7 Wonders also apparently isn't recommended for less than 3 even though it has rule variations for 2 players. It's cool there's also Duels but that costs extra, to get both it would be like ~66 total (if I get the 2nd edition of the big game) to get things that might just not click for the household and go unused. I need a modest starter for 2-3-4 players and maybe something super cheap for 2 players on top like the mentioned oldie Wizard and Ohanami which will be localized soon.

Before seeing the prices of some of this I thought I could get Wizard, Pylos mini, a small board for chess/checkers/backgammon and a modern board game on top but it seems like that's not the case, I can only get the one board game and maybe a small cheap thing on top as said above, if the main isn't too pricy.

I'd love to know how much Epic paid and how many copies sold for Kingdom Hearts and FFVIIR. I can only imagine/hope it was a massive waste of money on Epic's end and a massive loss of revenue on Square's.
Same as with KH, the games should have released on PC with lots of hype, excitement, discussion and fanfare. There is none of that. There are definetly Square employees who don't know about VIIR coming to EGS today.

It's gonna release like a wet fart and will be forgotten within 72 hours.

As someone who played VIIR on PS4, Im don't care for the PC version atm and will easily wait for it on Steam.

i wonder who'll be the first japanese developer to add some weird NFT in some form in one of their games, maybe SE
That's very likely, SE is greedy as f*ck. Oh well, makes it even more easier for me to ignore them.

It's remarkable how people on local tech forums I visit are responding very positive about NFT'S in games, while sites for passionate gamers are on fire. It becomes more and more obvious that people like us aren't the target audience anymore for publishers like Ubisoft and SE.

God I can't fucking wait. I'm currently going through the 3.x updates, halfway between Heavensward and Stormblood. Stormblood is supposed to be a step down from Heavensward but Shadowbringers after is supposed to be really fucking good, too. So I really should just enjoy the journey but a part of me wants to just rush through the story so I can get to Endwalker ASAP. :upside-down-face:

It's insane to me that they're borderline shadowdropping their biggest game on PC just like that. It's a late port and a TGA reveal is arguably pretty big but announcing it a mere week ahead of time is wild. If it was a Steam release, word of mouth would absolutely work wonders but that's not gonna happen on EGS lmao.

Let's not forget about that price. It left a bad taste in everyone's mouth.

But then they turn around and release the Pixel Remasters only on Steam and mobile.

If you told me this company based all their platform strategy decisions on something completely insane, like baseball results or something, I'd believe you.
