I wanna stay up for the New Year VR countdown with Rosemi, Selen, and Pomu..... but it's at 1AM and I wanna be sleeping by midnight for schedule reasons. orz

Mommy Nina and Petra will be doing a New Years party at 8. I'll go hang with them haha.

It's 11:30 pm here, i've got all the karaoke tabs opens so they play when they come on. I have ytarchive sat waiting for the unarchived streams to start, i have Sana fishing in Pokemon in the background between Karaoke and i'm playing Skyrim. I probably won't go to bed until i can't stay awake any longer so i may catch Pomu but hmmmm, doubtful.

I think Mumei will be performing amazing Karaoke when she gets a bit of training and she's not feeling ill. I really love her voice and she's got a good range and a good idea of what key she can sing in. Her gremlin squeaks and shouts are fun too though and that's what it's all about for me. Am i entertained? Yup. Then the job's a good 'un.

I'll probably watch Gura and Mama Shark play clubhouse 51 at 1am.
Petra and Nina are 1am for me with Pomu, Rosemi and Selen at 6 am for VR Chat.
Plenty of time for a powernap between them.

I do need to sort out Youtube/firefox chat's shitty caching and emote processing as it demolishes the stream when i expand chat as it processes the emotes and converts them to/from svg. GAH!

She's gonna get VR soon. She was also excited to play RE7 in VR only to realize it's not on PC, and RE4 only available on Oculus (Thanks Capcom ) but I'm excited for Half-Life Alyx.

Just had to post that Moona is a flippin' genius!
She had part 1 of her Moona Utau Duet Karaoke earlier where she sang duets and left parts for chat to sing which was fun.
Part 2 is on now and she is replaying the stream and singing the duet parts herself with Part 1 Moona labelled 2021 and Live Moona labelled 2022. Genius. The stream she had earlier this week where she sang alongside an old karaoke must have been a test run for this. Clever girl.

Also, you can tell that IRyS is the VSinger in HoloEN. I've loved the other sessions but holy crap she's good.

Pina's up soon which is good as i'm about to collapse from tiredness. Hopefully i can make it another few hours.

No, it's literally Chat Rooms in VR but you can use desktop too.
You create an avatar then go to different rooms and experiences and chat. People hold concerts and exhibitions in there, people have taken google maps and made environments from them. I don't think there's any "gamification" but people have made games in it but yeah, 90% of the stuff i've seen have been chat rooms and concerts.

It kind of is. It's a group chat in VR but you can make the "spaces" into whatever you want.
Many indie bands use it for concerts, exhibition halls have been set up in VR Chat and games. VShojo played Squid Game in VR Chat.



The HoloEN and new Nijisanji EN videos are more what most people do. They create or visit new, interesting places and chat, mess about or have concerts and exhibitions but games are possible for sure. It's really popular for people to start out making their own experiences and meeting others.

If they open the room to viewers with a password to restrict access from randoms and trolls etc then yes, viewers can take part too.
From what i've seen it's really flexible and there's probably plugins, extensions, environments and props to do what she want to do but i'm no expert. Despite having it installed for like 4 years i haven't used it much more than 10 minutes, 5 in VR and 5 in Desktop probably.

Oh, discord were talking about it earlier but i've been watching rare Tenma karaoke and then Tenma and Pippa having a drinking chatting stream while i was playing skyrim.

I assume that Enna's karaoke is unarchived? I'll dig out a stream tomorrow if so.
edit: oh cool, ytarchive grabbed the whole stream even 79 minutes in.

Selen has released the chibi Selen, Pomu and Rosemi models from their VR Chat stream as they are her own personal commission and not a Nijisanji thing. Looks like they're taking the HoloEN route and just getting on with certain things on their own. It sounded expensive so i assume we'll be seeing a lot more use of the VR Chat assets in future.

Ina and Sana had seperate streams but together on discord chat to keep each other company while playing pokemon.
Sana got her Shiny after only 738 resets, Ina sang songs about cheese while slowly going mad, Ina then got her Fleebas after only fishing half the lake, they traded, then we everyone talked about cheese as names for Ina's extra Fleebas and a good time was had by all.

We're only 4 days into 2022 and the amount of Holo content is already as relentless as it always was.

Yup, it's a good job i stick mainly to holo and don't dabble with Nijisanji, PRISM, Phase connect, Tsunderia, VOMS, Reiny, Obake PAM... oh god.
As we look to be starting to go back to work in the office sometime this year i'll have to cut down on my VTuber watching massively and just concentrate on the talents that i really gravitate towards and that stream at good times for me and VOD Gang the rest.

Hopefully that's a good few months away but as i'm not in school like a lot of the audience i can't watch streams in class and being in the office more often will make it harder to have the streams on in the background too so i'll have to skip watching some people as frequently as i do now. Sadge.

I've really warmed to a couple of the Niji talents and didn't really expect to considering I mostly stuck to Holo in the past. I'd say my list is something like this now.

Fave EN: Kronii
Fave JP: Botan
Fallback watching: Ina

And for like Niji, I dare not jump into the JP pool so just sticking to EN.
Fave: Selen, Nina (for totally opposite reasons too lol)
Downtime Chilling: Rosemi and Millie

And it's hard enough to just keep up with these. Feels like I never will lol.

Well, there's 200+ in Nijisanji JP alone so unless you have some kind of superhuman multi-tasking attention focus you can't keep up with them even in clips or highlights.

La+ Darkness has been demonetized on Youtube so i am expecting more A.I. based shenanigans and just plain fucking wierdness from youtube over the next few weeks as they train/retrain whatever they've tweaked on the algorithm over Christmas. The other ting to look for it seems are the view counts. I expected some dips due to people travelling, spending family time and doing other things but some people are reporting 40% drops in viewer counts for some holomems. We'll find out soon if it's seasonal, another algorithm tweak or an aggressive push against counting ad-block or ad-avoiding users and clients.

The channel "Hololive Songs" that makes the weekly "Top 50 Most Viewed Cover/Original songs" videos that i post is going on hiatus to focus on real-life issues and employment. Sad to see them go but i'm happy that they did the work as it helped me find new tracks and reminded me of old ones i'd forgotten about.

There's another channel that does similar videos that i'll keep an eye on.

I can now confirm my view is not counting for whatever reason. Adblock off, stream window in focus, does matter, it does not count.

I have heard many theories, two of which, folks in waiting rooms may be getting excluded and YT premium folks being part of the excluded group. I do have Youtube Premium. All-in-all though, it has been surreal to see so many folks with massively low views relative to what they were just receiving a week or two ago.

Of the company talents, I originally started with watching Nijisanji before I knew Nijisanji was Nijisanji haha. After starting with Kizuna AI, Mirai Akari, and Kaguya Luna, I jumped to Mito and Shizuka. Coco was my first reallll dive into Hololive (and then maybe Fubuki).

I was watching a lot of Okayu and Anya as them and Ina are just cozy, but my routine has changed over the past few months and has made it hard to catch them often.

Uhm, hopefully memberships and supa-chats are at a point where most Vtuba's are able to self-sustain regardless of "reported" views.

Quite a few vtubers are trying out Twitch, Pikamee has been streaming there a ton and expressed that she wants to try getting partnership. Ryugon also made an account and streamed there lately. I'm not really into Twitch all that much because the chat imo is really chaotic, among payment is a hassle for me (youtube being google made it easier for me with regional payment options) but that's more of a personal preference outside just similarity with other platforms more.

If I have to use Twitch I'm likely not going to interact with it much, hopefully this move won't affect YT streams too much. At the least hopefully membership streams will stay good on YT, they're my favorite thing each week, it would be a bummer if all the chit chat moves to twitch.

Although there are quite a ton positives for streamers from what I can tell (gift subs, discoverability, etc) for a streamer to move there. Not to mention all the recent fuck-ups with YT.

Thanks to Meru i've been watching a lot of Amiya from Tsunderia lately. She does a lot of content that isn't really covered by other streamers. She was playing old christmas DOS games, had a stream of GBA puzzle games, discussed sprites from Anime games and this week she has a stream looking at old gaming commercials. She also does a lot of acoustic guitar covers and karaoke and she has a great voice.

I love the larger streamers and how good they are even when scuffed but there's something about watching smaller streamers with 50 to 150 viewers. Even Anya and Iofi with around a 1,000 viewers still have that comfy vibe to them.

I watch some Twitch streamers but 90% of the time it's clips or their VOD archives on Youtube.

The VTubers i watch that are streaming on Twitch are experimenting or doing it as an extra thing to get themselves out there for that audience but don't seem to have any plans to move over fully. As bad as Youtube can be, Twitch also has it's own set of issues so it's probably wise to do both until you get huge and get courted by them. It's funny, Gura was just talking the other day about how one of her old deprecated emotes is being used on Twitch even though she's never streamed there and doesn't want to as she prefers the vibe on youtube and the community/chat she has there.

Looks like KSON is streaming on Twitch too. dunno whether it's a total move or using both platforms though. Seeing how much KSON and VOMS have been collabing together it's not a surprise. I expect to see more KSON and VShojo collabs too.

I think part of it is the UI, all the gifted subs/alerts/hypetrain stuff distracts the streamers quite often, on top of all the different colors, animated emoji spams, it felt like everything was to purposely make the chat scroll quicker and to unify everyone into a collective entity. There's also a different culture and meme spams which to the streamer (especially with a different cultural background) can find it be fascinating when they pick up/read out weird stuff from the chat and reacting to it, but at the same time that probably isn't for everyone.

bleh. I have no good experience with twitch and I have always found it to be a largely... annoying and unappealing to use platform.

Sometimes Selen does guerilla twitch streams, but i think that's the only Vtuba i watch on the regular which deals with Twitch at least for now.
