Looking at game release schedule for this year i think that this could end up being one of the best gaming years ever. Elden Ring, Horizon, Stalker 2, Dying Light 2, Hogwarts, Gotham Knights, Suicide Squad, Starfield, Ghostwire Tokyo, Saints Row, Plague Tale 2, potentially Skate, Jedi Fallen Order 2, The Last of Us Remake, Project Callisto, Avatar,...
You are forgetting the real GOTY, Alan Wake 2. :disapproval-blob:

EDIT:
Wait, that's 2023?

A random thought on the quirks of early access:

Remember when Subnautica had a feature where you could dig holes on the ocean floor? That was... janky...

And we are getting Monster Hunter Rise + God of War next week. Uncharted 4 and 4.5 later too. Plus hopefully BG3, Silksong and Rogue Legacy 2 before the end of the year along with all the ones you mentioned. Plus timed EGS stuff coming to steam like Kingdom Hearts + FF7R.

Yea its gonna be an amazing year even if 1/3 of that stuff gets delayed.

But like with any good year the wallet is gonna be in pain :cryblob:

This sort of thing is said every year 😅
And personally half of that doesn’t interest me 🤷‍♂️
TBH the only one on that list that I'm interested in is Starfield. But I can see where it's a truly banger lineup for most.

2022 looks really promising outside of the tentpole releases anyway. Distant Worlds 2, Weird West, Lorn's Lure...stuff like that.

Of course there's always those "out of leftfield" launches where amazing s**t I was never even following just drops straight out of nowhere and utterly captivates.

Oddly, this latter category has tended to dominate my annual GOTY lists over the past number of years.

Guess I like being surprised.

Finished the Infinite Battle pass :steam_pig_cool:

took me about 70hrs to reach lvl 100. All in all it was fun but these last 30 or so levels were very repetitive. The kills/deaths and outcomes just all too similar. Its a really good multiplayer game. The highs are really high and the only lows I had were challenges not registering every now n then. Mostly FFA.

Never really ran into any hackers but there was definitely some good teams out there that you can tell are on comms. Loved all the maps except for the stupid launch site. A dumb big map full of campers and empty space. I don't know why the fuck they put that in there tbh.

I think I have had enough of Halo for a long while. 👍👍👍

At least until new maps/modes/weapons and singleplayer content releases.

Thinking of finally giving Dead Cells a shot. Any of the DLC worth picking up alongside it? I imagine I'll have enough to do for a good long while with just the base game.

The base game is plenty great by itself. I have the DLCs but havent really played them much yet... I guess I should dive into it again to see whats new :)

The DLCs give alternative biomes to the runs - they don't expand the "length" of a run or anything like that. Basically runs are divided into stages and the DLC add some new stages you can go into instead of core game ones. That's the gist of them, anyway, they add some new things besides that as well but they definitely aren't essential.

Decided to start a new game today. Preferably something I bought on the sales so I don’t see another game in my library that I haven’t touched appear on Gamepass or Humble Choice.

But then got completely sidetracked making a spreadsheet for tracking completed games for this year…. yeah, sounds about right.

Now I’m left wondering some important questions… like “If I replay Guardians of the Galaxy now, does it count as another completed game in 2022 even though I already added it on last year's list?” :thinking-blob:

Thanks, good to know! That's a cool approach. I wish Hades could get DLC like that.
Decided to also pick up the Bad Seed DLC since it was super cheap anyway on Gamersgate.

Hrmmmm...

I be wondering if Intel's new XESS tech will be able to leverage all the Tensor stuff on Nvidia's RTX cards. I know it has two versions, one for Intel's XMX architecture and one without. Maybe some hacky trickery could get the XMX version running on Tensor cores.

To my (limited) understanding, that would be up to Nvidia. XeSS is open source I think, so if Nvidia wants to they can write their own driver implementation which uses the Tensor stuff.
But my understanding is limited.

After finishing Yakuza 0 two days ago, I immediately jumped into Yakuza Kiwami. All I can say so far is... It's nice to be back in Kamurocho.
And apparently, people no longer explode into cash when you beat them up! Who knew, right? 🤣

So I was idly talking about picking up Starsector over the holidays and I ultimately took the plunge.

At around 5 hrs.* in it's looking like a big win so far.

Rides that Goldilocks fine line between "Oh boy, there's a lot going on here." vs. "Oh boy, that's too much for me."

Installed a console mod that will let me instantly stock up on Supplies** if I find myself tapped out & stranded. Haven't had to use it yet, but it's nice to know it's in my back pocket for dire circumstances.

* cripes my ocd kicks into high gear without baseline stats like time-played tracking.

** Jebus, why can't I have this simple option for Sunless Skies? Scarcity legit prevents me from wanting to dive in with both feet in spite of everything else looking completely ace.

You are in HK, right ? Not sure a shared timezone would be feasible between you, the USA and Europe, but that's too bad as I'm sure PossiblyPudding would be up for it !
Probably difficult to work out lol. I am playing with randoms and the experience is so far so good.
:(Wait, why YuqiSatori is gone...

Played it a bit on game pass. Couldn't finish it. Honestly as a RPG it was pretty bad. Graphics are nice though.

When do you have to pause Humble monthly to not get charged? I want to get some games with the discount before I pause this month with the weak bundle.

Absolutely! DRG is something I always love finding time for when I'm able to. It's a weirdly relaxing experience at times despite the bugs trying to eat you the rest of the time.

If we can ever figure out a time that works for everyone I'd be up for getting a group going and testing out how things are ping wise. :highfiveblob:

My first ever refund on Steam

I just straight-up didn't like it. I never felt like this for any game, even if it was really popular/well-made. Plus I don't need more grindy games when I'm barely getting time for games (thanks job)

Wonder why Capcom isn't releasing on Epic?
(based on Epic v. Apple, we know Epic at least asked and they were games Epic didn't want to become de facto Steam exclusives)
Maybe they're using Steamworks for online mp (they had some degree of this in World at least, incl. groups integration), and if they'd release on Epic they would have to do it with EOS. Isn't that one of the terms for releasing there?

A little bit OT, but I need help with xbox app - EA desktop.
When trying installing ME:L it gave me an error on the xbox app, logged in on EA desktop with the xbox account and downloaded it from that client.
Is there a way to sync it with the xbox app now? It doesn't show installed (and probably is better this way given the fact that the xbox app folder ha SYSTEM permissions)

And that's a wrap on Ghostrunner. It was good experience, some things are bit clunky but manageable. I would say that game has perfect length of 6-8h. Only issue i had is that Raytracing is broken from 5th level onward so i had to turn it off (basically GPU gets stuck at 50% and you get low FPS). Overall enjoyable experience, especially if you like parkour.

Showa 66, Japan has bought out most of the United States with its strong economic power. A surge of immigration has firmly planted Japanese culture within the American continent. The United States, once a world leader, has become an unofficial colony of Japanese economics and culture, and the two cultures are rapidly amalgamated. Although conflicts are inevitable, citizens are gradually adapting to a life never imagined as time goes by. However, a mysterious catastrophic incident changes the world drastically.

19-year-old action movie stuntwoman Choko and her sister have come to Hollywood, now named New Yokohama, to audition for a part in a new film. Assassinated on arrival by mysterious agents, Choko's body is buried in the wilderness on the outskirts of New Yokohama, and her sister is nowhere to be found. An unknown amount of time passes, and air fills Choko's lungs once more as she rises from the soil. By some miracle, she's still alive, but something about this world is very wrong. Zombies roam the streets, monsters and a few remaining humans compete for scarce resources. Criminal underworlds are at war with each other while a mysterious organization fights back to rebuild social order. Recovering a vehicle from a movie studio ruins, Choko embarks on a journey across the United States to find her sister. But what lays in wait for her on the way? What has unfolded during Choko's slumber?
