It sounds ridiculously cool, but that game has that strong Ps2-era energy like Oneechanbara or something, of a shitty zombie action game. Which is a curse and a blessing really.
Also they choose the perfect horror theme with the Japanification of early cyberpunk movements, certainly a terrifying prospect for some. One that is STILL ongoing in modern media nearly sixty years later...

I did not expect expect that a Cantonese song, but in Japanese to be played in the trailer :D
I can't hear it without thinking of this moment between Korone and Miko one New Years Eve.
It's called Sore Ga Daiji in japanese apparently.

edit:
Last New Year's Eve, 2020, Korone was on a 12 hour marathon to finish a kusoge ( shitty game ) that she loves and Miko noticed Korone was still streaming so she sang a song for her. Korone's chat mentioned it and Korone stopped playing for a bit to listen to Miko's stream.
They are really good friends and recently finished a 24 hour marathon stream together with tons of collabs with other members of Hololive and a lot of video messages ranging from japanese celebs and korone's sports hero to people like 8 bit drummer. It was wild.

After a bit searching it looks like the original song is Japanese and not by Hacken Lee (the video that I linked to) :D I did not know that.

I had a quick look and found that video too but i went looking to see if i could find more info as the Haken Lee version is dated 1992 so i wondered if it was a japanese cover. I found this page that says Tachikawa Toshiyuki wrote it and his band Daijiman Brothers recorded it in 1991 then Haken Lee covered it in 1992.

I want to buy it, but it came out at a weird time right before the Autumn/Winter sales and at a high price. I know it also had a few bugs at release that at least seem to have been fixed from what I can read in reviews.

First I've heard of it. I find it difficult to commit to any of these "letterboxd for games" because many of them are new and I'm not sure how invested I want to get in using them. So far, I've found Howlongtobeat the most practical because it has Steam library import. It's not perfect though.

Yeah its been the same for me, I've tried many that have claimed it but not many of them were what I wanted. This one seems pretty much a letterboxd copy, so it has that going for it.

Why I was so hyped for GOG galaxy thingie was because it seemed to be what I wanted but in the end was unusable.

Witcher 3 wins for me due to sheer quantity of quality content, though Witcher 2 is pretty impressive in how much of a great RPG it packs into a fairly shot time frame (by modern standards) and how much it your few choices matter in affecting the plot. I will say, though, I really didn't like the combat in 2, and 3 felt far less broken in that regard.

If you ask me which Witcher game feels the best from a purely mechanical standpoint, I would have to go with Witcher 1, though. Very clean way of dealing with single monsters vs. groups and to this day has the most complex alchemy system that literally makes the difference between a fight being a complete breeze or dying within seconds.
Witcher 3 is the best game I have ever played.

If it had Witcher 1/2 alchemy with the Witcher 2 meditation animation for prep, it would be a step closer to perfection.

Running into trees with Roach also holds it back.

...

That's why I hate decentralized game libraries. --->
Wanted to check the new patch of Starsector. But the game asked for the Activation Code again (didn't even uninstall the game)

checked my mails but only found the invoice without any code.

Now I have to mail the invoice company for the code

But there are no mods for TV Show :(
It helps me to think of the show as a really silly fanfic, a What If scenario. Season 2 felt pretty weird to me, it started strong and then just jumped the shark a few times.

Thanks for the heads up, said I had an absurd number of devices signed in. Signed out of everything, changed my password, and enabled 2FA.
I got an alert (in Japanese for some fucking reason) this morning that someone tried to access my account, and a link to approve / deny. I ignored it but went to change my password and enable 2FA (and log out of everything as you did).

Yeah, my perception of the game will never be the same after the TV show. In hindsight, short-sighted of CDPR's interpretation of the fantasy world that is the Continent.
Luckily there are mods for that 😌
I'll look for them after the "next-gen" version is shipped and play on Deathmarch.

The late seasons of Game of Thrones is fanfic.

Netflix's Witcher has largely stuck to the books, where additions are for developing characters rather than changing them.

It's actually the video games that are the true fanfics, because they come after the books.

My main issue is that they are boasting about diversity and inclusion but they literally removed everything related to the Slavic culture and people that were huge influence and bas for the books. They couldn't give us at least slavic music.

I'm a dumbass, why did I install a Gamepass game onto the NVME drive I got for Christmas...

I still need to watch the new Witcher season. I have some of it downloaded to watch on the plane, for the business trip I'm supposed to be taking to train for my job, but that might get cancelled because of covid.

Again, the fanfic is actually the video games that gives the impression that Witcher is of heavy slavic influence.

Sapkowski wrote his novels in such a way that did not center the universe around his home country, from Nilfgaard to Touissant to Zerrikania to Skellige to Oxenfort to beyond the Blue Mountains.

He didn't, he used many cultures as base but he couldn't run away from his environment and his roots so his writing and character have a lot more slavic influence than other cultures. It is similar to how Russian writers have specific style of writing for example.

Having read the books, the TV show already deviates much further from the story, with key characters dying off or their story going into a completely different angle. And I don't mind that, but to me the games felt closer to the books in spirit.
And for the most part, I like both the show and the games. The one thing that bothered me about the show this season was their pretty dumb depiction of Vesimir. He comes across like a complete fool who needs Geralt to teach him basic things someone with his experience should see coming from miles away.

Not significantly further. The biggest addition is the
Deathless Mother
storyline. The rest is a matter of order, such as "A Grain of Truth." happening in Season 2 instead of Season 1, and Ciri accompanying him.

Vesimir's role in the books is small. Minimal, in fact. He's a much larger presence in the video games, specifically, Witcher 1 and 3. And that's where most ppl's interpretation of him stims. In contrast, Vesimir is a hotshot in the anime, so there's that.

I get the impression their take on Yennefer is much more "likeable" than in the books. Which is also interesting, but it feels like a deviation from the books to me.

Yeah. The inability to tag multiple games at a time or manage tags independently of games made it too much of a hassle for me. I tried working around it at first, but it got real exhausting and I usually enjoy managing lists and categorizing things.

Most of my library is on Steam, and its tagging system has been the most convenient way for me to keep up with and manage my backlog. Everything outside that I just keep in my head :face-with-head-bandage:

IDK about more likeable, but they are certainly placing Yenna on a higher pedestal in the show in terms of power and prominence. I am keeping the tone of "A Shard of Ice" in mind, wondering if they're going to provide a resolution to the love triangle sooner rather than later. Feels like they're pulling a The Walking Dead, where the love triangle is resolved in like, the first act of the comic, while in the show, it drags on into season 2.

Also, "A Shard of Ice" is important because of the metaphor for Yenna's cold disposition. Instead, in the show, they went with the callousness of how she is willing to give over Ciri to regain her powers. It's a deviation from the books, yes, but I don't think it changes much in the grand scheme of things.

Reminds me of how in the TMNT comics, it's actually Leonardo who gets the snot beat out of him by the Foot Clan, even after a valiant and hella-cool fight. But in the movies, it's Ralph. Why the change? Probably because the writers wanted kids to leave with the message that being a hot-head gets you in trouble or something, instead of "you can do everything right and still take an L." IDK, I'm just speculating.

Yeah, it's a bit too soon to really know where they are going with Yen, could be that they are still aiming to stick closer to the books. My personal guess is that the longer the show goes on, the more deviations we will see.
