193k people now moved from watching the Elden Ring stream to watching the Elden Ring unpacking graph. lol

I did have to restart my Steam Client and then try to restart it twice before it fired up and then it showed me 7 new updates and started unpacking Elden Ring. Their servers must be getting hammered.

Browsing the Steam forums, and it looks like Elden Ring uses EOS. My PS5 copy doesn't unlock for another 5 hours so I have some free time on my hands.

I need to wait for Elden Ring to get a performance fix. That or the new Ryzen CPU's come out.

Should we have an Elden Ring Metacouncil group password thing?

Also, I'm having so much fun just reading all the inane messages in the starting area. It's probably in a large part nostalgia, but that doesn't make it any less fun :p

(Also, my GPU is only half-awake, I think I'll have to do some DLDSR)

Also2, I spent 45 minutes in the character creator. It's one of those which has a billion sliders and you need to get the right balance of all of them to get remotely what you want. Just the way I like it :P

Can't use my controller in game. It will probably work if I unplug all other controllers, flight stick, fighting commander, but I don't wanna have to do that every time, it messes up my config in stuff like retroarch when the controller id changes order. It's not the first game this happens in but it's a rarity for sure. This is whether I have DS4Windows on or not, whether I have Steam input on or off, etc., it seems to want to use some "PS3 controller" I don't even have (Fighting Commander is in XINPUT mode so also an Xbox pad). Steam input itself sucks and doesn't solve this either, there's no option to hide any of my connected controllers atm even though it's supposed to have something like that. There are threads on Steam for this same issue by folks that confirm it's because of multiple controller setups but 90% of the posts are pending auto moderation even if they're over an hour old so I dunno if anyone found a real solution yet.

I have both Xbox and PlayStation compatible controllers and I can get neither to function in game. It still locks the game to controller commands though, so using a keyboard and mouse is impossible. I’ve tried launching in regular and Big Picture mode, rebooting, reinstalling drivers, nothing...

Is this really the how the mouse/keyboard controls are supposed to work in character creation? And then I get into the game and the button prompts are all for controller so I have to guess/check the keybinds to see them instead of following the on screen instruction.

Game works perfectly with my Steam controller out of the box, they even were nice enough to set the camera mode to trackball (everything else is sacrilege).
Although the default bindings on the back buttons are stupid, right should obviously be run and left should switch magic, luckily it's extremely easy to rebing... also, having 4 of them would help. Hurry up with that Steam Controller 2 Valve.

There's an option for that in the menu.
(Which is superior to autodetect, IMHO)

I set mine to "MetaCil" just now. No, I'm not creative, and yes, there's a character limit :p

I'm playing the FF6 pixel remaster, does anyone have a reshade preset for CRT-royal scanlines? I tried making my own but it just looks wrong (some weird colors on white fonts), I can probably live with it but was wondering if someone has a good config out there.

That's 3 times what I expected.

I based my expectations on 2x the Dark Souls 3 peak, because honestly Dark Souls 3 was already incredibly successful on Steam. Between Steam growth in general and the hype I expected Elden Ring to double it, but this is really something else.

Beat my first boss in ER.

Down to the wire with FP and flask. Such a great feeling and adrenaline rush that only these games can give you. So good to have a new From game.

Also the intro theme and story dump was amazing. Goosebumps throughout.

But yea the game is very hitchy. Randomly just stutters down to low 50fps range. Almost feels like some area slowdown bs tbh hopefully they are working on a fix.

Even more weird I had these same stutters in Lost Ark that refused to go away no matter what fix I looked up via forums. I figured that was the online part of it.

We can still access the reviews through Steam Community. Although, I'm not sure if you also lose the ability to create new review (I don't own the game)
