NOOOOOOOO don't put PC parts on Carpet. :anguished-face:

Static electricity is the enemy. Even if it doesn't break your parts outright it absolutely does cause damage at the microscopic level and that can add up or be made worse with time as current flows through the bits and bobs.

The first Tweet I see today lmao.

Case was supposed to arrive today but then it didn't. Bleh.

For some reason, it's almost unusably slow right now. I know the i5 6600k and GTX 970 are well past their prime, but it shouldn't be taking upwards of a minute for the start menu to appear. Browsing a basic webpage is basically impossible because doing anything makes itI freeze up. I did cheap out a bit and get a general-purpose HDD, not something made for gaming, but even then it should still be functional. Like, my laptop is weaker in every dimension and works fine.
Keeping your components on a rug that surely has some static electricity buildup.

I managed to find one just barely above MSRP, and since Valve doesn't want my money (till Q2), here we go

It's a big chungus GPU, that's for sure

So Valve is expecting to ramp up production of Deck significantly after first month or two (reaching 100s of thousands)

So this thing is selling like hot cake.

Let's see if it keeps selling after people get their hands on units and realize the product is nowhere near in a finished state.
I just hope Deck won't be Valve's uDraw Tablet.

To be honest Steam Deck has more features and it is in better shape than consoles that launched in past years. All core features are there, device has sizable library, hardware is good.

Yes, but people can have some weird expectations as to what a device like this can do, and confronted with reality they might lash out.
We'll see.

That frametime graph looks like an absolute nightmare. It stopped being a line, and become a bar.

So, pardon me for indirectly rubbing it in (not my intent) but who was able to actually order a Deck here ?

Has there not been any impressions of dual booting windows on the deck yet?
Not really. AMD hasn’t published some drivers. Phawx is the only one I saw recording the Deck running windows but it was brief.

Not me and in general I'm a little annoyed about it. 6.00 order time 6.02 confirmation email and I wasn't in the first batch. Two months delay and still not enough to even partly meet demand for those managing to get an order in the first minutes. Shit-tier from Valve on this.

One question, does Hitman 3 Demo (Including Hitman 1 and 2 missions) progress carries over to full game when you purchase it? And because Demo doesn't have achievements do they unlock in full game retroactively?

How much better is P5 Royal in relation to vanilla ? Does it change the ending ? No spoiler, please.
I admit, getting tired of waiting.

I really didn't want to bring something political, but WTF?

I'm skimming the most recent Chinese reviews and it seems like there are also a large number of positive reviews supporting Ukraine.

It makes the game better, but it still retains the flaws of the vanilla game (most notably the glacial pacing). It does change the ending, and the new content is arguably some of the best material Atlus has ever written.

Still, why are the Chinese netizens against aiding the Ukrainian people from the beginning?
Don't think it's much more than just picking sides. Russia is closer to China, thus on "their" side, and anyone supporting Ukraine is the enemy.
Mind you, I don't assume that these people represent a majority of Chinese players on Steam. It's always small minorities that seem bigger than they are.

While explorig the Lands Between I found a NPC who asked me to
deliver a letter to her father who was a castle warden. Fou d the guy, delivered the letter, killed a boss and he thanked me saying he could finally be with his daughter.

Upon returning to her place she was dead and her father was in shambles.

Omg, even the negative reviews in English are so negative with 11bit studios supporting Ukrainian people...
Poisonous, thoughtless, ignorant people that have never even had the fear of their Steam account being taken away from them for being total pricks let alone their lives being ended because they were living in a warzone.

I've been dealing with computer parts all week and static hasn't been a problem. But I'll go ahead and put the parts on top of a cardboard box. That PC case should be arriving today.

In other news, I think the slowdown has gone away. No idea what was up with that but now it's pretty usable.

Jesus christ at Steam's growth. Dark Souls 3 peaked at 129k ccu, Elden Ring so far peaked at 861k ccu.

Sony must be reevaluating their Bb plans. Right. :(

I’m trying to clean my library a bit- does buying Bioshock 1/2 and Darksiders 1/2 remaster editions always add the original versions to your account? I bought the originals back in the day and can’t remove them from my account without also getting rid of the remasters which is all I want to keep.

Like what? It's a Souls game. It's an action adventure with rpg elements.

You explore, find places, gather snippets of lore to find out what's actually going on, get stronger and fight bosses.
You can test out different builds and strategies etc but it's not an open world game like Bethesda or Ubisoft.

It's an open world adventure game with a combat focus.

Might finally have some free time this weekend for Elden Ring. Have they patched any of the performance issues or should I expect a shitshow still like early reports?

Not patched yet. Regular crashes to desktop. Frametimes feel a bit wonky on my 1070 7700k, 1440p. That's with EAC disabled and FlawlessWidescreen active.

Totally depends. Some are impacted more than others it seems.
I get some stuttering like there's texture caching being processed and it's pretty much reproducable so i'm wondering if there's some rendering issue in certain areas when looking at certain points but it always settles back to 60 so i dunno.

Had no crashes at all, framerate pretty solid at 60 with dips to high 50s for me.
I have tweaked the graphics settings but there's definitely optimisation and patching needed.

2700x, OG RTX 2070 Not Super, SSD, 32gb ram, 2560x1440.
I'm offline with telemetry declined and not logged in to the game servers.

I've played 7 hours or so of Elden Ring now, 75% of that in co-op.

The only issue I've run into is that one of my friends is disconnected from coop sessions from time to time, but that seems like an internet connectivity issue. No performance problems to speak of, and no crashes.

I wasn't of course expecting anything ubi; but did somehow expect more of a RPG, or at least little more to do in the world. Open world combat game without any side stuff wasn't really what I expected. As best game ever made I expected little more. That said I really enjoy it! Just trying to cheese some levels and finding something better than the starting knife.

Oh, what class did you choose? I apparently chose one of the "easy mode" classes as an Astrologer so i have short sword and magic stick.
I'll possibly play for a while longer then restart as something different but similar. Not sure yet.

It’s the game Persona 5 should have been. It’s about the same length, which is to say around 100 hours playtime, but the content feels a bit more packed. This makes the game feel like it’s moving along at a better pace than the original.

And the bonus content including the new ending is top quality. I was concerned that some of the key talent was moving away from the series until I played Royal - the people taking over the series are gonna be fine.

In short, wait for Royal. Persona 5 is an 8.5/10 game. Royal is a 9.5/10 game.
