I'd be kinda surprised if Kingdom Hearts wasn't revealed for Steam. It's been a year, and they've got a big event to annouce it in, probably with some bonuses on top for the Steam release like a lot of Epic exclusive releases have done.

I mean, most of us believe this is the case, but S-E works in mysterious ways lol

3080s are starting to get dates for availability at decent prices.

Still waiting for 4080 to build my new PC.
Seriously torn about this right now. I figured I'd wait until the RTX 40 series and I still want to but I already have a good portion of the funds necessary right now and I'm seeing some stock available so it's tempting to just get a 30 card right now. I could even get one of those limited edition white cards Asus made, which I'd love to get because I themed my whole PC around a white case and white parts. And there's no guarantee they'll make white editions for the 40 series...

My suggestion would be that if you can get a 30xx, get that instead of waiting for 40xx. Because who knows what might happen, and I wouldnt want to risk not being able to get one. There's no shortage of people you can sell your hypothetical 30xx anyway.

I expect that generally GPU availability will only get worse forevermore, unless they make mining a crime internationally, or Apple is forced to relinquish their priority in fab, in either which case there would be a generation or two with great availability before it got worse than ever again.

That is, when the 40x0 comes out, I'd be real surprised if it's not harder to get than a 30x0 was at its launch for several years. I don't think we'll ever again have the time where a large variety of video cards sit on store shelves.

That's my main worry, yeah. The thing is the card I'm eyeing is a 3090. So while I could pay out of pocket for a decent chunk of it immediately, it's still super overpriced and definitely overkill for my 1440p monitor. Then again, so is my CPU and it would push a higher framerate so idk. I can't say I'm not tempted...

There's like... four, maybe five games I'm holding off on playing until I can do it with ray tracing. :p

Although at this point I'm honestly looking forward to being able to use DLSS/DLDSR more.
I probably have one or two. Certainly not enough to make me pay so much for a new GPU haha. Starfield will be the only big game that I want to play in near future, but my 1080 Ti should be able to run it without problem.

Personally Steam Deck is a way better investment than a new GPU. To each their own. :kissing-face:

Yeah, funny you should mention the Steam Deck. The more time passes, the more I'm thinking once my turn comes around I'll probably just pass on it. I want one but it'll probably end up like every handheld I've ever owned: I'll play it non-stop for a little while and then never touch it again. 🤡

If you're already in the market for a 3090, a 4090 would just be diminishing returns.

I'm not really lol. It's overpriced and overkill. I'm only tempted because it's the only of the white GPUs that I can see anywhere in stock and I can sort of afford it right now but realistically I don't need anything higher than a xx80. I'm most likely just gonna hold off for the 4080 like I was planning. Although I'm really hoping the rumors about power draw on the 40 series are overblown because I really don't wanna have to upgrade my PSU so soon. I built this PC like 3 months ago lmao.

Jeez yeah, seems like you can actually buy a 3070 for 200 over the initial price, while it was 300 a week ago. Shit shit shit, that doesn’t play well with my planned upgrade. Interesting.

I am hoping I will be able to get a 3070 TI for not much more than £100 above RRP in the second half of the year.

Seeing 3070 TI's for 800€ - is this good?
But it's Asus TUF and I kinda want to avoid Asus.

Well all I can say is it's less than what I saw the non-ti version going for in France. Not bad, I guess.
The 3070TI got lukewarm reviews though, don't know in what measure the premium is warranted. On the other hand we don't change GPU like shoes, so might as well go for the better version, even if not that much.

after being away for a solid week, here's what i have been doing

- i helped my brazillian artist friend to put his avatar on r/place, in which we succeeded, but i slept only for 10 hours those 5 days
- my programming project (which was mandatory to pass onwards to exam), i thought i had it in the box, but as i was literally just about to finish it, it just FLUNKED OFF, and basically, there's a very likely probability i won't pass onwards to exam in that topic (iirc, i'll be able next year, and i'm not hopeless in the topic so really, it'll just be some side activity next year)

Yup, why spend 1k+ on a 3080 now when I can do it on a 4080 in a few months
I'm not sure you'll be able to get a 4080 for the current price of the 3080 in a few months. I definitely hope so, I'm waiting for the 4000 series as well. The nuclear power plant I'm building in my garden to power that thing is almost finished. 😁

Probably not. I'm expecting retailers like Scan and Overclockers UK to scalp again, because they're total bastards.

I honestly don't care that much about the price unless you need to be Musk or Bezos to buy a 4080.

This is the longest period of time It's been between GPUs for me. Im not all that interested in playing Starfield on my 1080. My current build is from summer 2016.

Playing on a 1080p monitor with gsync has helped me out a lot and even after the 4080 I have no intention to upgrade my monitor.

took a shower, realized i need to hit back as hard as possible, my ego's been shot down as hard as a tank in the actual final mission of metal gear solid v

gonna make a program with my own goals, boundraries, probably a chemistry program because i like it, a repetition into something i like, plus it has some complicated stuff that i could program in, show that i'm equally bite as i'm bark

Oh hey, another Windows update fixed AA injection through Nvidia's drivers. But it also broke DSR. Sigh. I'm guessing that'll be easy for Nvidia to fix with a driver update on their end.

Though, on PC there are users that report having managed to improve performance with DXVK?

DXVK is the gift that keeps giving, even under Windows. I bet the game would even work better under Gamescope but alas shitty launcher is preventing the game from working under Proton. Still, I am getting better result emulating the game under duckstation.... Must have had a 100 dollar budget.

Wait wait wait

How does one use DXVK on Windows? I thought it was just Proton/Linux
Which all games work better with this tool in Win10?
By just copying the DLL files to your game install folder. It's the recommend way to play games like GTA4, AC Odyssey, Guild Wars 2 ie games that are DX9 or DX10 and heavily single threaded. (moreso for AMD) Here is a link explaining how to use it.

Anyways apparently Chrono Cross works on Proton Bleeding Experimental now.

Edit: Tested, game works on Proton Bleeding Experimental however the FPS counter is a damn lie. It's much better than when running the game under Windows but yeah it feels like 20 FPS in battles.

Reason: Tested in LInux
