agreed, it's actually pretty good :)

Steam version is finally catching up with consoles. Just 3 months behind now.
doesn't matter ... the expansion will be like 6 months late anyway (if we're lucky)

It is certainty a lot better then the average story about EGS these days, but still raises some red flags for me, like spending way too much time talking about the Chinese conspiracy angle. And it misses the biggest reason behind most complaints: It is not just the lack of a specific feature... it is that everything Epic has done so far is to lure developers, to the detriment of the consumers. "Don't like people bad mouthing your game? Don't worry, opt-in reviews and no forums!"

Still, it is not the only article/opinion that at least tries to give a more "balanced" view recently... so ... some progress I guess?

In happier news: Thanks to everyone that "bullied' me into buying Supraland. I'm very impressed with it. Great art style, rewarding puzzles and very polished. And contrary to my inital fears: a lot of content. Highly recommended if anyone wants a exploration/puzzle/metroidvania with some light combat.

I really don't think it was a good article. It has several gems in it like this

Valve itself then entered the conversation—rather than removing the game’s Steam page, it left it online and posted a note that read, in part, that “the decision to remove the game is unfair to Steam customers.” This gave Steam fans their rallying cry: Competition might be good, but Epic’s type of competition was not fair.
It's valve's fault that people are upset at poor Epic. Everything was fine until Valve dared explain why Metro was being pulled. He then goes on and actually writes an entire section about "Valve's idea of what's fair".

Plus, it’s not like these temporary Epic Games Store exclusives are skipping PC. People just have to download another, free launcher to play them.
Ahhh the "just another launcher" rhetoric. A statement so profoundly idiotic that even Era has started warning and banning people for using it.

The hate for the Epic Store stems from a variety of concerns. Some of them, like the store’s threadbare feature set, are legitimate, even if they don’t merit this degree of response. Other concerns, however, are conspiracy or conjecture, and all of the anger has been amplified by the megaphone of Steam’s own longtime rhetoric and structural issues.
Last but not least you have the summary at the end. According to this there's no real major problems with EGS, just some small inconveniences and the rest are batshit conspiracy theories.

It's the same kind of poorly researched and heavily slanted article we would have expected from Grayson.

I read it. He throws little jabs at Valve basically everywhere he can, but it's actually not as bad as you'd think given the name in the byline.

It's still a pretty mediocre piece in my opinion, but it's admittedly markedly better than all the stupid shit that people like Imran Khan and Dan Stapleton are saying. So, I suppose that's progress of a sorts?

And you were very right.

At first when I was playing and the upgrades started coming way to fast I thought to myself: "Ok, this appears to be a very interesting short game that I will be done with in 2 hours or so". I'm now 8 hours in and like I said, seriously impressed with the quality and quantity of content. Nothing is too obtuse and I don't think I have found a single bug, which is particularity impressive for a low budget game that has several physics based puzzles.

Again, highly recommended if anyone is on the fence.

Is there even a way to download your soundtrack files without downloading the game? Last time I wanted to listen to an OST I owned, I'm fairly certain the client forced me to download the game as well.

I wanted to be the one to summon the lightning. Either way, it's funny that you just read a scroll that says "throw it back" and you can just do it. I love video game logic sometimes.

Y'know, the one thing I did dislike is that I felt almost every skill beyond the passive ones were useless. We had mirikiri, ichimoji, puppet, blood mist, air prosthetics, and... was there anything else you used during the game?
Mostly yeah, I don't think many of them had any balance.. Ichimonji is great but I think people are sleeping on Nightjar Reversal, it's my favourite skill by far, closes gaps and creates distance between foes.

Finally beat Owl (Father) in Sekiro. Now onto the next area and hopefully I can beat it this week so I can return to Dragon Quest XI.

Sekiro really gets you pumped when you beat a boss that you were stuck at for a while. Combat system is so good.

A 2D action game set in the “The Tower of Permanence,” an automatically generated dungeon not dealt with by ordinary means, where powerful monsters await. With network-based social features, this brutal dungeon is designed with the concept of playing while competing against other players.

Key Features

  • An Automatically Generated Dungeon that Changes Every Day – Every 24 hours in the real world, the internal structure of “The Tower of Permanence” in-game setting will drastically change. With different mechanics from the previous day that await, you must compete with other players to clear the dungeon.
  • Don’t Adventure Alone – Share information through social features like leaving notes for other players in order to clear the dangerous tower. But will the notes left by other players offer a means of escape, or an invitation to death?
  • Various Characters – Starting with the hell maid Cocoa, you will be able to play as various characters in challenging the tower. Whether you can attack with a multitude of magic or climb the tower as quickly as possible, the gameplay style varies depending on the character.
Japanese developer Commentout will release 2D action game The Tower of Permance for PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC by summer in Japan, followed later by iOS and Android, the studio confirmed at Tokyo Sandbox 2019 in Akihabara this past weekend.

Am I missing something? While he addresses some valid concerns, most of the article is shitting on Valve, even holding them responsible for people's outrage because of their message on the Metro Exodus store page. Followed by a huge preach why Steam is actually unfair. He even calls Origin "competition for Steam" because EA pulled Battlefield from Steam.

Here's his conclusion:

The hate for the Epic Store stems from a variety of concerns. Some of them, like the store’s threadbare feature set, are legitimate, even if they don’t merit this degree of response. Other concerns, however, are conspiracy or conjecture, and all of the anger has been amplified by the megaphone of Steam’s own longtime rhetoric and structural issues.

This reads like another Pro-Epic PR publishing to me.

Edit: beaten by Derrick.

Yep, things are changing, very slowly. I suspect the Dangerous Driving thing really showed off the complete ridiculousness of a game the benefits from social interaction being on a bare bones store. One of the best things about steam, and consoles, is the leaderboards. I can see how hopeless I am at Hitman 2 compared to BernardoOne and get a nice sense of accomplishment in Pinball Fx3!

I actually don't think the devs cared that much in what state Dangerous Driving was on EGS, they probably realised that there wouldn't be that many sales and they already got their money hat. I'm not saying that they don't care about their game, more that they concentrated on consoles.

But Tim told me that the extra money would result in better games and trickle down to me eventually. You can't be seriously suggesting that developers not caring about how many copies they sell breeds complacency?

The Padre release April 18th for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch!

A Thrilling Demon Hunter SINulation

The Padre is a retro stylised 3D horror adventure game tapping deep into the roots of classic horror games. The dark and striking atmosphere is often cut by the wicked humour of the always witty Padre. You will need to use your brains to solve challenging puzzles, as well as your brawns to fend off monsters, all at the same time while you try to unravel the mysteries of the mansion, yourself and the eternal fight between good and evil. Be weary though, if you fail enough times it’s a permanent GAME OVER for you!

So, Zanki Zero: Last Beginning launches today, and it has a time-limited bonus (a 34 track soundtrack).

Does anyone know how much will it cost?
Is there any deal around?
thanks

Because trickle down economics aren't real and better revenue shares aren't passed on to the consumer, it will probably cost 60€ just like the ps4 retail version.

Hope it's good tho, I've been looking forward to it.

If only the game would launch exclusively on the EGS... ;)

In japan the PS4 digital costs ¥7,776 so I suspect it will also be full-price in the West on digital platforms. I think there will be a launch discount but not much.

OMG that Konami picross game is so damn addicting! I realise that I might not have a healthy way with puzzle games like that and I think I might need to stop playing them. It happens every time.XD
True dat. Nonagrams are crack, why SEGA and Bamco don't follow suit, at least is a missed opportunity for them. Heck I'd buy this for $5 if they gave me the option.

Do I get Ace Attorney on PC or Switch. Decisions!!!
I'm sure streaming a visual novel to a handheld / phone / tablet device should not prove hard, unless you lack a comfortable device that is.
