Gaben is a bastard

His policies even affect games that aren't on Steam, like FF7 Remake and Kingdom Farts!
you have now written something you will regret for the rest of your life:

Mickey: "Uhoh! We have to reach the top of that tower, but we have no time! Quick, Goofy, do you have any ideas?"
Goofy: "Gorsh, I'm all out, gahunk! Any ideas, Sora?"
Sora: "Mickey, Goofy, watch this!"
Sora then takes a whole can of red beans, and violently stuffs them into his mouth. In addition, he takes a lot of eucalyptus gum and Fisherman's friends.
Mickey and Goofy, now holding onto Sora's arms, hold on for their lives, as Sora fart rockets himself up the building.

In the world of amateur hyper-indies, it feels like the line between treasure & trash can be razor thin.

With so many cynical, low-effort asset-flips & joke games flooding the channel, it can become a sort of background static seemingly unworthy of attention at all.

But occasionally a title worthy of note rises to the surface.

Carmeana is pretty dumb* by all accounts, but man does it have a lot of heart.

I genuinely love folk-art games like this. Titles that look like complete incompetence on the surface, but are propelled to greatness through raw earnestness and offbeat verve.

Reminds me a lot of other "successful disasters" like Candice DeBébé, Dominique Pamplemousse, and Wasteland Trucker.

* aka, not suggesting anyone check it out, I'm just glad they exist.
I never thought I'd see this getting a full release. I saw it many many years ago on Vinesauce and I thought it was just a one-off shitpost.

Seeing it have voice acting is wild

Finished Elden Ring. Wanted to solo the whole game but honestly the last 3 bosses cross the line between challenging and bullshit for me.
Had to summon help or I wouldn't have finished the game. For the final boss my companions kept getting decimated, even when there were 3 of us.
Then eventually I summoned this dude with no armor and dual wielding 2 huge weapons and he obliterated the boss which made the whole thing anticlimactic.

Gonna go back to Nier Replicant to get the rest of the endings and also wrap up Mass Effect Andromeda.

I found earlier optional bosses harder than the last few

I'm cautiously excited for Gotham Knights. Getting to play as Babs or Dick for the whole game is amazing! But I will not be buying it until I know for sure it's not a mess like Arkham Knight was.

I got my Eiyuden Rising emails yesterday. So don't despair, I guess. Though you should be able to log into your Kickstarter account and/or Yeetee (their fulfillment people) account and see the status. Sometimes Kickstarter emails get routed to spam for me. So igess look at that

Gotham Knights looked very framey. Hopefully they polish it up in the next 5 months. The open world seems to lack traffic/pedestrians as streets look empty. Other than that it looked fun.

I'm curious how progression will work. Can you just beat the entire game playing as Nightwing for example? And then replay the entire game as another character?

Would be good if they gave you that type of freedom instead of forcing you to play as other characters for story reasons.

I crossed the 2 hr. mark this evening and for a title that's "indie but poop but also great" (as Line aptly phrased), it's really f'ing great, lol.

Indies never cease to amaze me sometimes.

Most recent Gwent patches have been moving the game in really good directions. They got rid of a lot of FOMO for the battlepass-esque system and have added a lot of really interesting cards, moving the game's meta and balance in generally good directions.

(If this post makes anyone want to play, there is a referral thing I'd wanna provide...)

Just for everyone going "Wtf" at Gotham Knights It's not being made by Rocksteady, Suicide Squad game is being made by Rocksteady. Gotham Knights is WB Montreal and they did the Polarizing Batman Arkham Origins.
Which some people loved and some people hated.

Also to point out Rocksteady made Asylum, City, & Knight for Batman Games

Sooo yeah.

(Btw my opinion on Origins is, "Woohoo more batman games!")

Gotham Knights looks fine and main issue with that gameplay is person who is playing it. Especially during first two encounters.

My biggest issue with Gotham Knights is Red Hood himself. Aside from the magic bullshit, he isn’t a great character in the comics, he was a dull villain in the third game.

What’s worse is there are so many more interesting characters in the Bat Family they could have used. There is Cassandra Cain as Orphan. She was one of the best iterations of Bat Girl, somebody who had been raised by assassins and couldn’t communicate like everybody else. Stephanie Brown Spoiler. A fan favourite. Katherine Kain Batwoman. Hell Clayface is currently a member of the bat family.

But no we have to go with a gun user who doesn’t even use the guns at the moment. Unless that has been rebooted, which tends to happen a lot at DC.

I think Batwoman would be the de-facto new Batman/leader, so that's probably why she isn't in it.

I have zero interest in Red Hood though. My knowledge of him is minimal. I'll be playing as Batgirl 99% if the game lets me.

Looks really good if you like FMV games, not a ton of choices but it branches and the production looks amazing and the performances are solid.
Episodes 1-5 are about 2 hours for £6 which is not bad for a high production FMV game, entire bundle of 18 chapters is £18 and about 8 hours from the comments.

The movies are in chinese but there are language options for subtitles and interface. ( English, Japanese, Korean )

oh, sorry. i updated the post in the FMV thread but not here. I'll do that now.

Yes, it has multiple language interface and subtitle options but obviously the videos are chinese language.
I don't know of any plans for dubs but i haven't really had a good look tbh.

I watched the video last night and the only thing Valve is potentnailly on the hook for is the MFN clause due to their market leader position. Basically it's fine until it isn't and there is no consensus in the US legal system one way or the other on MFN. Hoeg said that as it currently stands, Valve probably wouldn't be found under fault, but political winds could change that.

That's assuming the MFN clause works as Wolfire alleges (if you sell game X on Steam and GOG and you'll run a discount on the GOG version you'll have to run a similar discount for the Steam version in a reasonable timeframe). Which I really doubt is true, because the MFN clause is in the "Steam Keys" section, but either way that's what the court is going to have to find out, I suppose.

Noticed that Hydroneer got a BIG 2.0 update this week.

I've had it for a couple years, but didn't dig much into it after touring the early EA build.

Watching my favorite Twitch streamer go at it yesterday made it look the game is night & day compared to when I last played it. Gonna have to bank it and give it some time when my schedule clears up.

Looks really dang good at this point.

Wasn't Valve sued for the same thing like twice in the past and they managed to win both cases?

its still the same lawsuit ... just after 2 previous attempt Wolfire finally managed to pass the bare minimum to be even taken seriously
And they still have to drop 4 of 8 claims.

It's not quick win Valve tried, but branding it as a loss is kind of questionable.
