"You know Elle, we really are the last of us"
Is that from Trial and Tribulations? Playing through the Ace Attorney games on my Deck currently, and the games are so much better on a smaller, portable screen. I especially love the music in T&T, it's crazy how good that chiptune music sounds. Puts some orchestrated OSTs to shame.

As someone who loves reading VNs on a 55" OLED, I'll have to disagree with you on that one. :flare_smirk:

The remastered OST does sound great, though, especially when it's not coming out of those cheap speakers NDS has.
I tried playing the games on my 32" inch monitor in 2019, and I stopped after the first one, it just didn't feel good to play it on that size. While the updated graphics are great, the character sprites and background images were never meant to be super enlarged and look bad to me on a large screen. On a smaller screen like the Deck, it blends together better. So I am not really arguing that VNs don't work on big screen, just that 2D images that were never meant for the big screen (even with the clean up they got for the remaster) still look better on a portable.

A mobile phone number must be linked to your Steam Account to play Modern Warfare® II.
Probably anti-cheat. Not sure how effective this will be, since a new sim-card is usually cheaper than having to buy the game again after a ban.

Dying Light Definitive Edition launches tomorrow (today as of this post) and will be live with "a massive discount of up to 70% off".
This edition includes the base game and all 26 of its DLCs, including skin bundles and expansion packs.

To thank everyone for supporting the game, the studio is releasing one last free DLC called the Harran Tactical Unit Bundle, and it's available for two weeks, starting tomorrow (today).
If you already own the Platinum Edition of Dying Light, you will automatically be upgraded to the Definitive Edition for free, giving you five new bundles for no additional cost.

Downunder.

It's quite possible that is a scaling issue. Most VNs, --even modern ones-- doesn't have native assets drawn to accommodate 1080p resolution or higher. It's very rare when an VN actually have assets in 1080p like Ace Attorney, or even 1440p like some of Nekonyan's titles.

So for example, if your monitor's native resolution is 1440p or larger, when you set the game to full screen, depending on the game's implementation, it will simply stretch the game window and not performing an internal resolution scaling. As a result, the sprites won't look right, in the wrong aspect ratio or blurry, and it will make the fonts blurry too in some cases.

There are several upscaling tools which can help mitigate the issue I described, such as Losssless Scaling, Magpie, and dgVoodoo. But as you said, ultimately it all boils down to what you're the most comfortable reading with. :flare_bath:

Yeah well done it is T&T 👍

In all seriousness, yes, it looks like we’ll get a short turnaround from release date announcement to actual release.
I would not mind in this case. Uncharted 4 & Lost Legacy are hardly new releases.
Still, idiotic from Sony not to port the Nathan Drake Collection alongside. Unbelievably stupid.

Guy in my office just gave me a 15 minute rant about the epic games store cuz his sons account got locked (from logging in the platform entirely) after he bought RDR2 on it.

"Steam never gave us such troubles" he said.

Just a different launcher tho.

Sony would happily forget pre-PS4 games exist. Their hand has somewhat been forced by Microsoft but the amount of shits given is relative to the quality of the emulation on PS5.

As I’ve ranted many-a-time on here, I’d like to see them embrace their rich back catalogue going forward. Yes they’ve got a wealth of PS4 and 5 games to bring to PC, but they also have some excellent older games that shouldn’t be lost to time.

Interested in MW2 for story reasons funny enough. I feel like AA-AAA Shooter Campaigns are kinda rare these days?

My thing is, it's a sequel. Will we get MW(2019) or am I gonna have to fill in the gaps myself? :thinking-face:
We just don't know, we suspect we will get those too but at a later date, unknown tho.

I mean, there is development in Nate's character in 4. But all you really need to know is that games 1-3 happened, not what happened in them, and U4 really does a good job of bringing you up to speed. Personally I'm in no hurry to replay the first 3 games so while I hope they'll come eventually, I'm glad they're starting with 4 and LL. I'd love to replay the former without PSNow's horrendous compression and I've never played the latter.

Uh, IMO, the series quality notwithstanding, Uncharted 4 works on the basis that you have a modicum of familiarity with Nathan and his wife. So Uncharted 1 and/or 2 are advised. Now, can you just play 4, sure. Is 4 or whatever episodes good, debatable. But yeah, Uncharted 4 is not intended to be a series jump on point.

Now, personally I don't care, I'm in team 'The only good one is 1', but my middle name is Bizarro.

But all plot points of Uncharted 4 are pulled out of UC4's ass at the beginning, literally major characters and backstory that not once have ever been mentioned before. And the character goes straight from "The lesson i learned is that the real treasure is the friends we've made along the way" to "fuck what my nagging girlfriends thinks, i wanna go after treasure"

I'll give you summary of Uncharted 1-3, free of charge.
Nathan Drake is a sociopath Lara Croft that goes on zany adventures throughout the world and always murders 100s of people.
This is not fair on Lara Croft. Thanks to the new games, she is every bit as sociopathic as Nathan and killing just as many people in her games.

I mean, I based my take on the fact that you should be familiar with the couple to 'appreciate' the mid-life crisis thing, but you are not wrong that it's no Shakespeare.

Again, no stake in it, Uncharted 4 bored me to tears and I dropped it when the game told me I had three towers to visit. And I realized I didn't give a fuck. All I can really remember from it are some glorious light effects and a stroll on roofftops that was so long and nonsensical I needed all my will to not drop the game right there.

Tried some more Robocopy, I solved the big issue that was plaguing me (character encode) but now... why ? why are you like that ?

Talking about the size discrepancies.
Same number of files, half the size ?

that's a ton of files for just 40 Mb of raw data. Not surprising that a different block size or something could blow up the size on the disk.
On Windows, there is this tool you may check out: WinMerge - You will see the difference… If you give it the contents of both folders, it should tell you if there are any discrepancies. Assuming it works as it claims to, haven't tested it myself.

Or maybe tell a story that actually fits the gameplay
What are you even suggested here, though? Like, what are the alternatives? Having the same gameplay but you only ever fight one or two guys at a time? Or come up with a story that somehow justifies the preposterous body count? I feel like neither would necessarily result in a better game and isn't that really all that matters?

Actions games are basically guaranteed to be ridiculous in how many things you kill so I'm not sure why you would want to arbitrarily limit the kinds of stories you can tell because of it.

Because a story that disconnects from the gameplay is completely pointless to be part of the same whole.
The game and the story should enhance each other, not detract.

If a story requires me to pretend the gameplay doesn't exist, or vice versa, why are the two even part of the same work?

And plenty of games (and other media) has stories that justify the protagonist murdering a lot of people
("justify" is obviously not meant in an ethical sense, but in the sense of making it part of the narrative)

TLOUII as example from the developer, is a story about people that are obsessed by revenge, who don't care how many people they will have to murder along the way to get it. (And ironically, that game probably has a lower bodycount than uncharted). As such, the gameplay about murdering people, and the characters fit to each other and create a holistic package.

How many of the Uncharted detractors here know about Steel Fist? (Steel Fist = melee an enemy within a second or two of shooting them for a one-hit kill)

Genuinely curious, because I thought the games were boring until I learned about that mechanic. They're still boring stop 'n' poppers on Hard and above because you usually die before getting into melee range, but the mechanic was transformative for me on Normal.

I think it's bizarre that Uncharted doesn't teach this mechanic explicitly. I had to learn about it from a Let's Play. I wonder if it was an attempt at appealing to new gamers (since the 360/PS3 generation always handled new player accessibility in the worst ways possible). Bayonetta did the same thing with dodge offset being almost completely hidden despite its importance.

Makes me wonder what other games from that generation were secretly good, if only I knew about some obscure system.

I think in Uncharted 2 in one of the many villain monologues he says something about 'you and me are the same, we killed a lot of people just to get here', and like Drake just shrugs it off lol

And yeah Drake starts as a snarky asshole in 1 and ends as a snarky asshole in 4. The games seem to be kind of aware that whatever he's doing is terrible but justified because he incidentally saved the world (read: fixed the problem he created thanks to his greed).

Anyway despite my condemnation of both Uncharted 'plot' and TLOU story, I think both series are made of very good games. I don't know if I'd go through Uncharted 1 or TLOU2 again in one sitting, but yeah.
