Nah, imho the audience needs to really like Joel, the whole game happens only because of feelings towards him. If you care less or are indifferent about him it's a disconnect to the plot. Stupid people doing stupid things, the time to come to your senses, abandon this bananas quest and turn around comes early in the game.

About the combat of 1, i felt the highest difficulty is an ok stealth puzzle type deal where you have to map out your approach and things come together when you find the right one, usually not my type of game but not bad... attempts to lower difficulty and play it more actiony (which is usually more for me) had me going back quick because it didn't seem made for that and it wasn't fun at all.
I must be an outlier, since I keep seeing people/reviews say the combat wasn't good. For me, I was so immersed in the story and characters that the gameplay always felt high stakes. It was better on higher difficulty, but being so absorbed in the story made any combat "fun", or at least engaging. Anyway, looking forward to this on Steam. What a world.

Developers who spoke anonymously to Kotaku said they’d crunched in ten-hour shifts over six days a week prior to Fallout 76’s launch, with some saying they fantasised about being injured to avoid having to come into work the following day.
The full article is worth reading but be warned it's full of sadness stories.

I cannot miss the coffee talk :cryingwhyblob:

I started drinking coffee when I was about 3 years old. Now, mind you, it was a smidgen of coffee and a whole lotta milk when I was that young. My grandmother would let me have some when she had her coffee and she had a little plastic container full of sandwich cookies that I could have one or two :evilblob: with my coffee milk. They said it would stunt my growth, but I am ~190cm or 6'3ish now, though I can only assume I traded a NBA career with my enjoyment of coffee, which might be a fair trade.

The very occasional game can break through and get me to follow it further but yeah I'm old and in general this has been my approach for many years now. I don't like hype culture.

I don't watch them at all but these events are good for reading threads like this after the fact and padding my wishlist with anything looking mildly interesting.
Funny you mention Wishlists as this might have a lot to do with my hands-off approach to a game's dev cycle as well.

I Wishlist games all the time on Steam, even those of mild interest. I just "set it & forget it", focusing instead on what is directly in front of me in the here and now.

Then some months or years (lol) later I get an email notification that a Wishlist item has gone on sale and I simply check back in to look over the general reception and act accordingly.

It's a pretty simple system that frees up a ton of headspace while at the same time preventing anything from falling through the cracks. It really is a brilliant service/feature perk that keeps me "in the know" without being a slave to the Up-To-Date Latest News (tm.) & hype cycle.

So, I guess I played myself by buying the game though GMG, the one time in some years I have, haha. Anyone interested in buying a The Quarry Deluxe Edition EU key for 40€ or something?

HAHAHAHAHHA

THEY SILENTLY HIKED THE PRICES BEYOND THEIR CURRENT $60 PRICING. AND THEY THOUGHT STUPID NON-AMERICAN PEOPLE WILL NOT NOTICE IT
oh, they knew everyone would notice - problem is that no one (in the mainstream) gives a fuck about how much people in poorer countries pay for games

The real question is: will the port still be shit?
yes

For a long time there were rumors that the reason Sonic 3 & Knuckles didn't get the remaster treatment back in the mid 2010s was because of the music, I guess those rumors are pretty much confirmed now, Sonic 3 in Sonic Origins is going to replace certain tracks with new arrangements of the prototype/1990s PC version music, instead of the music used in the release version. The new arrangements will be done by Jun Senoue with the Mega Drive FM synth.

While they didn't confirm which tracks will be affected, these are the most likely ones that will be replaced:
  • Knuckles theme (most likely they'll just use the Sonic & Knuckles track)
  • Miniboss (most likely they'll just use the Sonic & Knuckles track)
  • Carnival Night Act 1 and 2
  • Ice Cap Act 1 and 2
  • Launch Base Act 1 and 2
  • Credits

Protip for Metasteam with all the coffee talk in the last page.

Drink Decaf. You won't feel like shit all the time and you will sleep well. And you get almost all of the good taste especially if you buy the decent brands like dunkin/sb.

I have a little system that I (mostly) adhere to:

1. Collectors Item: Games that I just want to own because I liked the game and want it on Steam.
- have set it under isthereanydeal for a specific € or % amount and will buy it for that

2. Games that looked cool and that I would buy if they are deep enough discounted
- if the discount is above 60-75% and I didn't buy it after more than 3 times they were this low, they will get booted out of the wishlist, clearly I don't want them enough

3. games that I wishlisted because I want to follow them for whatever reason
- will get booted out of the wishlist if they are not in active development anymore and didn't get added to point 2

I guess the Uncharted release date will be announced at this Epic Games showcase. I hope it's not exclusive even for a short time.

Started to replay Resi 4 because of the remake.
Instantly played 8 hours without a break and thought, honestly, this really doesn't need a remake. It's still amazing.
Then i had to redo the whole mine cart part because i failed the QTE at the end.

Yea, maybe a remake will do some good afterall

After RE2 and RE3, it's obvious that Capcom isn't interested in making the definitive versions of the games because they keep cutting corners. So I don't care anymore, my mentality towards REmake 4 is: bring it on. Get fucking weird with it. Do your worst, Capcom!

And at least RE4 kinda needs a new coat of paint. It's definitely showing its age at this point. Unlike TLoU, although now that we're seeing side-by-side comparisons, I'm sorta coming around on that one. If the game is fundamentally unchanged then some updated visuals couldn't hurt it. Although I really wish more remakes/remasters let you switch between the new and original graphics with the push of a button like Halo MCC does.

They will change game system requirements which is not really a problem itself but how they are going to do it is. Instead of creating a new appid they will literally decimate people who don't have DX12 GPU. I know that from a technical point of view everybody should own one but not everybody can afford it on less fortunate countries over the world.

The question is, is there's any chance this can cause a legal issue in the EU? It looks like an anticonsumer practise but I don't know much in the end of the days.

You mean the DX11 renderer will be phased out ?

Tis a great game. Hasn't that RE4 graphical update just been put out by those independent guys? I played a bit of it a while ago when the first few chapters were done. Seemed like a very good upgrade, something that Capcom should've done themselves.

Y'ALL KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS!!!

Friday stream coming up in about 15 minutes. Going to work on finishing up Ender Lilies, or at least getting as close as we can. Chances are it'll probably be a lot of backtracking today so I want to give everyone a heads up of what to expect.

But I'm sure we'll still find a way to sneak some goofiness in there. :cuteblob:
