All this talk about Shadow Hearts is making me think about the games. I replayed the first 2 last year on PCSX2 but I haven't played the third since it launched on PS2. I remember being disappointed (which was the case for most people) but I need to revisit it and see how I feel about it now.

Currently downloading GotG, this was very high on my wishlist so I'm glad I got such a good deal for it.

By the way the whole "take an L" thing from Soul Hackers 2 makes a lot more sense now after playing the game.

You have to fight a rapper in the game and he rymes, so after you beat him Ringo says "take the L" to ryme with "hell".

It looks like in the original Japanese versions she says "You Know" in English since it rymes with this other Japanese word and is basically supposed to be dissing the guy you just beat.
Gamers jumping to conclusions based on out of context media. Never thought I'd see the day.

In case you are wondering why this is funny.

You have individuals that believe that emulating the Switch in any capacity is wrong. They are very against it and even if you dump your own roms they say it's still ilegal and it breaks copyright laws.

Now you have a dev "showing" off some one rom dumping their game and it running on a Switch emulator.

Payed via PayPal and got a key, so it's not impossible to get. I also gave them a complete bogus address and name.
I've tried it as well, using Greenland as my country. We'll see...

Edit: got my key and activited it on my EU Steam account. Thanks SE 😁
Yeah, got back late last night from a pool day, and saw the email with key. Awesome! :D

Thinking about getting into destiny 2 again after the recent buzz...I don't remember, can I just buy the Witch normal dlc as last one or do you need the upgraded version? I remember something about the season not being included etc

Between The Lords of the Fallen, Lies of P, Wo Long and the eventual Elden Ring DLC....

Souls like fans have it so good these next few years. And if Sony actually brings over Bloodborne + Demon Souls remake to Steam :cat-pizza-blob:
I'd add Steelrising to the list; it seems pretty Souls-like as well -- and with a very appealing setting. I don't know anything about the developers, so I am unsure what to expect from them.

At least they're French, so there is a good chance I won't have to rebind Z/W and A/Q for my AZERTY keyboard. I'm a simple creature, so this is an instant 10/10 from me 🤷‍♀️

Also, Asterigos is a Souls-like, but supposedly not too hard.

Regarding Steelrising, thats by Spiders, they made a bunch of good games: Greedfall, Bound by Flame (I played and liked both), also Technomancer, Mars War Logs, Of Orcs and Men (which I havent played, but hear theyre not bad?... their games have some eurojank in them, but yeah, I think theyre fun, and Im looking forward to Steelrising!

Clown devs though, why not just release the Special Edition on PC? Fuck all the backers I guess and then they released a EGS exclusive on top of that haha.

Back from holiday!

Spent the better part of 2 weeks completely offline and it felt glorious.

I really should do it more often, vaca or not. It's legit refreshing.

Of course even the most unplugged settings can't keep the the game-nerd out of the game.

How sad is it that my first thought seeing this was, "It's Skyrim!!!", lol.

Returned just in time to fall back down the rabbit hole.

(As if I ever left, that is. :p )

Online for Dark Souls 3 PC is back since Thursday ! And they say they haven't forgotten the older games. It's been so long I thought they had given up support altogether.

I can't seem to find it, but does the new Steam beta phone app not have a chat feature? Do I have to use the stand alone chat app to see messages?

It does not include a Chat feature, you cannot see or write messages. It seems they want you to use the separate app for Steam Chat.

Speaking of the new Steam app, the problem I had with scrolling seems gone now. I don't think it got an update, so maybe Valve did something on their server end to fix it.

After playing Soul Hackers 2 for 10 hours, I have to wonder where all the negative reviews came from as I'm enjoying it far more than I thought I would. The characters are all likable and the gameplay is the reliable Megaten formula. It also has decent pacing which is a breath of fresh air when comparing it to something like Persona.

My primary complaints are that it can feel really low budget at times (which it probably is) and the dungeons being nothing but a series of hallways (but I'd prefer that over the giant empty hubs in SMT V). Also the fact it's buggy on Steam Deck, but that's more of a technical thing that is likely outside of Atlus' hands. :shrugblob:

Also Milady is hotter.

Same, I'm loving it so far. I have to wonder if the harsher reviews aren't coming from people mostly familiar with Persona. I can see how the lower production values and cut corners could come as a shock if you compare it to Persona 5. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little disappointed when I realized this game is basically a handheld game but I'd rather get the low-budget version than nothing at all. Making a sequel to one of their more obscure SMT spin-offs was probably a pretty risky move and now that the Switch has forced them to up their visuals a bit, I hope they make more games like this. I want more variety like they had in the PS2 days.

Speaking of Switch, I just looked it up and apparently it's not even on it? Lmao what the hell?! When I realized the game had the production values of a Vita game, I assumed it was because the Switch was the baseline. I mean, it's even on Xbox ffs. Surely that's going to sell worse than Switch version would?

After having played on Steam Deck, I'm not sure why it's not on Switch, my only guess would be that they were on a time restraint. They game was announced back in May of this year from what I remember. And was set to release on August. So within that 4 month time period they have not been able to optimize the game for Switch and instead of holding it back they were going to release it for some quarterly earnings stuff.

In the event that the game didn't sell that well they could always have the Switch version as a fall back plan.

They may have originally wanted to wait and release all versions at the same time but I wonder if SMT V sales played a part in this and also the upcoming releases of P5R in October.

So if I already have Hitman 1 and 2 on steam, can I play them in 3 by buying the base version or do I need some access pass ?

HEY EVERYONE!!!

It's another bouncy Sunday! Going to start with some Hitman 3 today and then move to a little SD Gundam Battle Alliance afterwards. From there we'll see what sounds good, but like usual I have a few others in mind that we'll hopefully get to. :cuteblob:

I'm also going to have a couple announcements during the stream today, one of which is the surprise I've been talking about that will happen at the end of September. I'll mention both again when I update the thread in a few days so no worries if folks miss the stream today and are curious about that.

We'll be starting in 10 minutes!

While i didn't read any reviews, Soul Hackers 2 is definitely a fairly mediocre SMT game.
Most of the dungeons are very basic and boring to look at, the game is fucking slow until you unlocked the sprint spell (and then you have to spam it every 10 seconds) and the sidequests all suck.

Still better than SMTV tho.

This, on the other hand, i can fully get behind.
metaphorically and literally

Correct, the season is not included so you either need the Deluxe or purchase the season separately in-game.

Between GotG and Soul Hackers 2 I'm having a great time right now. Already had a few laughs with the former.

Like I mentioned before I decided to revisit Shadow Hearts 3, I completely forgot that this entry dropped the pre-rendered background in favor of full 3D graphics. They're actually pretty detailed.

So this weekend I finished up the campaign and some side stuff from Beyond Light and Witch Queen, was fun, but won't buy them yet. Also tried AoE4 on the free weekend, also very fun, but still have to actually play AoE 2 DE so don't think I will buy 4 yet. Now Im back on Xenoblade 3 again, after Xenoblade 3 I will continue with Stardew Valley, House Flipper and Teardown.

You should be just able to play the maps in H3 if you buy the H3 base version. Might need to restart the game after first launch or something weird like that for them to register.
The access passes get automatically added based on your Steam entitlements.

To be fair, most of the dungeons in SH1 also took place in office buildings and warehouses, and people also complained about that back then. The Soul Matrix probably could do with a more personal look for each of the members, but probably it's more of a budgetary constraint.

Making a sequel to one of their more obscure SMT spin-offs was probably a pretty risky move and now that the Switch has forced them to up their visuals a bit, I hope they make more games like this. I want more variety like they had in the PS2 days.
The experimental nature of the game systems (Like the Loyalty and "Go" system in SH1) is what makes Soul Hackers interesting. Sadly, people can't stop themselves comparing it to either Persona or mainline SMT when the series itself aren't trying to be those games.

If there ever be Soul Hackers 3, I would love them to be more ambitious and bring back the more experimental system.

:confounded-face: twitter thread
I can believe this curator shit, right. But then the dev mentions grey sites and how they are full of those keys and something doesn't add up. There are usually not one or two or even ten keys available on these shops, so tell me, if what you say is right, why you sent hundreds of free keys to random solicitors ?
I have no reason to doubt the curator issue, but it feels like the dev is changing topic altogether and mixing them because it’s convenient.

And if you have a prologue ready, that you send keys for to random strangers, ever thought of making that a fucking demo ?

Again, contrary to what you might think by reading this, I have no reason to doubt the dev as a whole, I’m just not convinced by the whole picture.

Finally completed an Hades run. 9 to go.
I don’t remember clearly, but thinking about Hades and the true ending my first thought is ‘oh, you sweet summer child’.
I might be remembering things wrong, though.
