Timmy still paying. 🤷‍♂️

Exclusive to Netflix is a new low for Ubisoft, if is even possible for then to go even lower of where they are already.
Deals like this look like they're just plugging holes until someone can buy them out. Ubisoft is basically flailing at this point and the Guillemots are desperate for someone to bail them out. Everything they're doing is about increasing value to a buyer but because the leadership at Ubi is so incompetent, they actually just make things worse. Short of massive layoffs to make the company more "lean", none of the big players are going to buy them because the last thing they want is to have the negative headline of buying a company and obliterating literally 1000s of jobs.

Which means shitty companies who don't give a fuck about their public perception, like Tencent, are the only remaining interested buyers.

I just don’t understand how Call of Duty is back on Steam and Ubi hasn’t broken.
Ubisoft is still looking at a long-term strategy. No matter how insane that strategy is they've decided on it and they're sticking to it until someone buys them out.

For Activision, see below.

MS stated #1 goal is to fuck with Sony.
Until the deal goes through Activision still has a financial responsibility to its shareholders to maximise revenue and pay massive dividends. At this point in time, short-term revenue is more important than long-term, and the current outgoing leadership has decided that a short-term financial boost (so they can pay themselves and shareholders increased dividends) by releasing on Steam is more important than the long-term Battle.net strategy which is now irrelevant to them because whatever Microsoft decides to do with the client, it won't impact them.

So the deal probably caused this, but it wasn't Microsoft telling them to do anything and more the greed of shareholders and Bobby Kotick. Unless they do something that will devalue the company in Microsoft's eyes (such as signing a new exclusivity deal with Sony, for example), I doubt MS really cares too much what they do.

Expect bumper bonuses for all the parasites in Activision until the deal goes through.

The only game I care about ubi on PC is Scott Pilgrim complete edition. I hope it gets steam release if they return to steam one day. It’s a licensed franchise and wouldn’t be the first time it expires and get delisted like happened when they released it for the first time on PS360.
I wouldn't get your hopes up for this one for that reason. I just bought it on Xbox and I'm hoping that version survives the test of time.

This is why that name stood out to me (I'm not familiar with the franchise) but Ubisoft owning anything not called "Ubisoft City name" is odd to me.
iirc same goes for Trials devs as Ubisoft RedLynx ... but iirc they recently renamed Bluebyte (anno/settlers) to Ubisoft Düsseldorf .
in Case if Nadeo its probably because they are in Paris and there already was Ubisoft Paris before :upside-down-face:

While we're on the topic of Ubi games, let me be one of the brave few willing to cape for Far Cry 6.

I gave that a wide berth at launch, seeing as it was a) not on Steam, b) had middling reviews, and c) had "bomba" written all over it

Thanks to it bombing, the price dropped like a rock pretty quick, and I got it on XSX at like 60% off.

Its... actually pretty good! It's not the second coming or anything, but I had a lot of fun with it. Way, way better than whatever Far Cry 5 was supposed to be. If Ubi ever gets off their ass and comes back to Steam, easy rec at 50-60% off or better.

Acquired that month of free Ubi+. Suprisinly not much Im interested in trying out, but it was free, so why not. Downloading Riders Republic, Far Cry 6 (for the DLCs, heard they are bad though), Valhalla (for Dawn of Ragnarok, also heard it was bad).

It's fascinating how many DLCs to Ubi games I keep reading is bad, I will try them though since I can play them for free.

So basically the only one Im actually interested in trying out is Riders Republic.

I thought about Rainbox Six Extraction as Siege was super good (one of my favorite tactical shooters), but remembered I tried it out on a free weekend a while ago and found it terribly bland.

Yeah I'm thinking that I will try to save for one after I have my steam deck funds ready.

I really really want this one! But its pricey, 330€, considering that it took me more than a year to save up for the deck, it will still take me some time for the chair.

I recommend second-hand Herman Miller Mirra chaira. I got one in the UK for less than £400, are really comfortable even using them all day and last for many years. It was the best 2020 purchase I made, after having used it in the office for years previously. (example, they got more expensive)

Hopefully you can find something similar in your country

I finished Soul Hackers 2. It's probably in the lower echelon of Megaten games, but I still had a good time. The characters are likable, but the story kind of falls apart near the end (the final act feels like a bad imitation of Persona 5 Royal). I appreciate there were actual dungeons, even if they weren't that amazing. I thought the combat system was the highlight as the game has mechanics which account for Null/Repel/Drain abilities which often translates to "I win lol" in most other Megaten games.

I wouldn't suggest getting it at full price, but if you can get it for 50% off then it may be worth your time if you're a fan of the series. Also the DLC is absolutely not worth it as the bonus dungeon is very underwhelming.

I'm pretty sure it would be illegal for Phil or anyone at Microsoft to do anything like that until the acquisition actually closes. They wouldn't risk such a major deal over Call of Duty being on Steam, it would 100% need to be an Activision decision.
You're probably right, and I hadn't thought of that. It's most likely a coincidence and I was looking for something to tie them together. :shrugblob:

Every cheap mouse I have had lasted more than any VANGUaRD ProX V3ngeance Blade EDITION with ULTRASPEED and BATTLE-AUGMENTATIONTITS-in-VR.
I have bought from every single brand in existence out there (and I mean this literally) and my experience is any mouse that cost more than €20-30 is not worth it.

The AO rating for AC Mirage was in the trailer on stream too.

Clearly, it's doing something that gives it that rating and knowing Ubi, it's not gonna be porn or gratuitous violence, so it’s probably crypto gambling.

I wouldn't be surprised if this hits the best sellers list next week. It looks to be getting some positive buzz and it's one of the most wishlisted games (currently 29th place). Also high quality city builders typically do well on Steam.

NBA selling well despite being last gen on pc, sad :(
It appears 2K23 had a stronger launch than 2K22 as well. 2K22's first weekend peaked at 20k CCU while 2K23 peaked at ~25k.

HEY EVERYONE!!!

That ol' Sunday bounce returns. We're going to be checking out some recent releases starting with Tinykin and if we have some time we'll check out a couple slightly older titles I've been wanting to get back to.

Another thing I want to do is make some changes to the thread sometime tonight or tomorrow. It likely won't be anything big, probably just a slight rewrite of the OP and some banner changes but I do have a few ideas in mind so we'll see! :cuteblob:

The stream will be starting in about 10 minutes!

Finished my first Digimon Survuve route this weekend (Harmony) after getting side-tracked by other stuff. 3 more to go!

Imo it's very good. Although it does feel like 2 separate games tacked together.
The main meat is the visual novel main story with some battles. It's very high quality, the story is good and the human <-> Digimon dynamic is fantastic. The combat is "fine". It's not overly complicated and serves its purpose just right - and there's not too much of it. Getting through the story, seeing evolutions your partners have is a strong hook (especially since some forms depend on the route).
I would give this an 8/10 so far. 9/10 if you're a fan of the Digimon Adventure style animes and always wanted to experience something like it in game form. Could change depending on how the other routes go (especially the True ending).

The the second part of the game is the "Free Battle" aspect, where you can combat random wild Digimon and either defeat them, recruit them or get items from them. This is a bit of a slog, because as I said combat is just "fine" and kinda exhausting in high doses, recruiting chances are pretty low and the special evolution items are fairly rare. The game also often forces you to use partner Digimons during the story anway and they have lots of advantages over the "wild" Digimon as well, so it all feels kinda tacked on.
I would give this part of the game a 6/10, but it can also be pretty much entirely ignored (which I ended up doing for the most part since I just wanted to follow the story).
Maybe my opinion will change during the next routes if I do end up engaging with it a bit more, we'll see. But even if not it doesn't make the main game worse.

They're not facing massive sub cancellations. For perspective, they've lost 2 million but they still have 220 million subscribers. Some of those 2 million are from Russia where they stopped offering their service. The rest are just natural losses because this is the first time they're facing real competition in the streaming space and inflation is hitting everyone now so people have to tighten up spending. The stock market reaction to their (less than predicted) losses was absurd but those fools somehow want infinite growth forever so it was always going to stop at some point.

My tinfoil hat theory is that their competitors are pushing Netflix doom and gloom narratives for issues that are going to affect the entire industry. Like the ad supported business. HBO Max already has it, Disney is planning it too, other smaller streaming services in America already have it but somehow only Netflix is getting raked over the coals for it. Or for example, Disney lost the IPL rights auction and are going to lose (as a guess) about 20 million or more subscribers in India in the next few months. Nobody will be writing out their obituary for that. Yesterday news came out that Netflix is considering going to weekly releases for episodes and people are losing their minds over this. Meanwhile, when HBO, Amazon, Disney and everyone else does the same thing it's considered a good thing that allows shows to build audiences and promotes discussions and what not. It all seems very weird to me.

People being upset makes sense.

I mean the whole reasons why episodes are weekly is to stayed signed up for the service. You could wait until it's finished and then sign up and cancel or you could just sign up and then cancel immediately and the whole show would be up.

Depending on the series there is more than 5 episodes in a series so you are at least watching for over a month with weekly releases.

Now the real issue is that Netflix made a all in a while style being their stable, it's WHAT THEY ARE KNOWN FOR, the stranger things being a weekly thing made sense seeing how much they spent on each episode.

Netflix is the old streaming service that set the standard for a lot of things but I'm sure that at some point Netflix realized that their strategy was not very viable in the long run.

The weekly approach is what others are doing since that is what they have traditionally done.

So in a way you have Netflix who is top dog and thought of new stuff that others haven't, while the new guys are trying to bring old ways to Streaming service (one of those being weekly episodes, also stuff like live TV)

One of the other "big" services is Hulu. Hulu use to have 2 account types. Hulu which was ad supported (you watch ads and certain shows are free to watch). You had Hulu Plus which was a paid version and didn't have ads and also had more streaming content that was locked behind Hulu Plus.

As I have mentioned, I'm not a fan of Netflix and there are just too many different streaming services in general

It’s 100% crypto gambling, no way they ask you to bet $50 directly to maybe win $1000, they need some layer of obfuscation

Well, so far I've tried of those that interest me on Ubi+.

  • Far Cry 6 DLCs - they are pretty bad, like bad roguelikes, really boring and uninteresting concept
  • Heroes Might and Magic VII - bad, just go back to Heroes 3 on GOG or some other Heroes like game, basically

  • Riders Republic - eh, not sure about this one, tried a few min, will try again later, so far
  • Dawn of Ragnarok - only decent so far of the bunch, will play more and see
  • Settlers 2 History Edition - nah, go back to the GOG one

So, a bit of
so far

Yeah definitely agree. The story is the strongest part of the game. Finished all the route and enjoyed it a lot!

The recruitment is definitely the most annoying part for the combat where the answer is just random as hell without any relation to the digimon you are recruiting.

It's also kinda forcing you to save scum or retry the battle once the recruit fail to prevent wasting a lot of time on that. For me once I've completed the digimon entry from free battles Some entries/form are story locked. I've just skip through it and just engage in story battles for the other routes.

Btw in order to complete the encounter all digimons achievement, you will need to obtain the digimon once but you don't need to keep it. So you can evolve your rookie to further levels but it will still count the rookie as registered in the entry. And since you should already unlocked Boltboutamon you also need to use the evolved form once in battle in your new playthrough for it to register in the library

For shipped thIngs, Valve more or less operates under the squeaky wheel princple. It is precisely why folks need to post something if there is something that needs looked at and hopefully it gets picked up. There are a high number of cases where Valve fixes problems that bubble up on places like Reddit and Twitter.

To be clear, not saying this method is right, but if I had to operate with limited number of coworkers, I would assume no noise no problem when deciding my workflow.

Gonna deise tommorrow wherever Im done or not with Dawn of Ragnarok. Expected a really cool expansion in the vein of Blood and Wine, but no.

First mission was regular decent Valhalla AC, then the game opened up and wants me to find and do a bunch of side activities, finding shelters and raiding enemy villages for resources before I can continue the story. Bleh.

It's TGS week!!!!!!!!

You already have some of the Valve staff there and that's pretty cool.

I hope that it goes well, the physical booklet would have been nice to be able to pickup.

Komodo had a both last month for Bitsummit and it was rather small, it looks like it will be next to the Konami and THQ Nordic booths.

From a business perspective ( seeing how the first 2 days are for press and business partners and stuff and the last 2 days are for general guest), I'm guessing this is will be Valve first real "push" in Japan since I don't think they have really attended trade shows and stuff in Japan, they have had some other stuff like with the launch of Steam China they did a thing with Perfect World, but not much after that I think, but I could be wrong. This is where those booklets that they made will come in handy,

On a map it looks like it will just say Komodo and doesn't say Steam/Valve, which is what more people likely know them as.

As part of its plan to return to growth, Ubisoft is aiming to deploy its three "pillar" games - "Assassin's Creed", "Far Cry" and "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six" - on all digital platforms, Guillemot said.

On all digital platforms unless that platform name starts with S and ends with team.
