Man, I need to play Yakuza 7 or I'll be playing catch up. Who would've thought a few years ago that the franchise would have this turnaround in the west.
What a time to be alive.

Stellar Blade caught my eye when it was first revealed as Project Eve and this new footage looks great. Definitely keeping an eye on this one.

Buy those games real quick because Johnny's still don't know what will happen to their precious idol within the next few days. Tons of screenshots and even mods. Oh god how evil the Internet is...!
We can save the Judgment series, we just need to make a mod that removes all textures from Yagami and turns him gray.

Man, no one is talking about Circus Electrique on either forum and I just don’t get it.

Like at all.

I’ve logged close to a dozen hrs. so far and it’s already secured a Top 10 slot for the year.

I mean, I get how personal titles of interest go completely ignored by the community. I don’t expect much love to be rallied behind my dumb Mundane Job Sims (though PowerWash surprised) or my stupid folk-art, garage indies like Carmeana.

But I would have imagined the respect & admiration for Darkest Dungeon would have drawn more eyes to Electrique.

So strange.

I might pick it up one day.
I've gone back to Darkest Dungeon (great on the Deck!) as I never completed it but i'm not sure if I'll ever get to the end, find it a bit too difficult. I get frustrated when all is going well and then everybody dies and i have to effectively start again.
If Circus Electrique is a similar level of difficulty I might pass.

It is definitely on my short list of games to check out! I was waiting to see if it would pop up on somewhere like GMG or Humble for a small discount, but mostly because I was a bit iffy on the Circus theme and there are so many games coming out and/or going on sale. Game looks interesting and Darkest Dungeon 1 is among my all-time favorite games.

DAI COMING TO STEAM AND PERSONA 5 ROYAL GOT A STORE PAGE, WHAT IS GOING ON!!!!!

It has just been amazing announcement after amazing announcement.

Would be neat if someone could data-mine the PS4 version and make a mod.
It's strange how these games have such a tradition almost for face-replacing actors after some scandal
It's just Japan fucked up priorities.

Got got with child pornography and openly admitting it? Oh dear, just a fine and please don't do it again :)

Got got doing some weed? You filthy motherfucker. Your life is finished.

I don't think it's that surprising. Circus Electrique is an obvious DD-clone. So for most people the question isn't, "Is Circus Electrique worth the money and time?" The question is, "Is Circus Electrique better than Darkest Dungeon?" But CE isn't showing much that differentiates it from DD. It's got a different theme, but that's all I can tell from the store page. Worse yet, nobody has even finished Darkest Dungeon yet. The game is long, tough, and grindy, and Steam's achievements show only 4% of players have finished it. Why bother with CE if it doesn't seem to do anything new, and I haven't even finished the game it's copying?

The indie scene is flooded with clones of popular titles these days. You've got 10-billion action roguelikes following in the wake of Spelunky and Isaac. Infinite deckbuilders fighting over StS's scraps. Vampire Survivors got cloned 50 times within like, an hour of launching. And Stardew Valley created enough clones to ruin yesterday's Nintendo Direct.

I've tried "Popular Game but with a Small Twist" quite a few times. Almost all of them have disappointed me. They set the bar high for themselves by drawing comparisons to amazing games and usually fail to reach it. I'd rather play a 6/10 game that's doing something I haven't experienced before than a 8/10 game that's retreading old ground, and I suspect many indie enthusiasts feel the same.

Your excitement for CE is helping to keep it on my radar, but it's a tough sell.

There was nothing that interesting for the holidays. Then yesterday and today hapened. Japan saved Christmas.
I need to seriously look at an updated release list, because oof.

Man, I really don't feel like replaying FF7, would much prefer going directly into Remake, even if it's worse. But I feel weirdly heretical.

So one of the very last games for the 3DS eShop dropped recently, called Automaton Lung. And oooh boy it's got a heck of a vibe. Chunky, low-poly aesthetic, exploring big, strange environments. I've seen a number of very positive impressions, including a video from ThorHighHeels.

I bring this up because it looks like the dev is working on a Steam port, and I'm feeling pretty excited about this. I have a real soft spot for games like this. They activate the neurons associated with exploring spaces in N64 games as a kid, and those are some of my favorite neurons. :blobmorning:
